    The recent strike of university lectures in Ghana was not about their salaries not been paid. It was about they seeking that they salaries be made equivalent to some of the counterparts in the western world universities.

    Am from Nigeria and I was in the University in 2010 went for an excursion from my great school. There are a lot of historical places in the institution. Palm library. Great Hall.Department of History. The location of the institution was so strategic like sitting on top of hillsides.I wish to have my master's degree program over there then.I love the serenity of the institution.

    Ghanaian lecturers has never embarked on strike on reason of unpaid salaries. But rather on salary increment, condition of work and research allowances.
    Ghana has 15 public universities.
    Top amongst them are LEGON, KNUST, UDS, UCC, UEW, GIMPA, UENR,MINES, etc.

    The strikes in Ghana are nothing compared to elsewhere. They are not as frequent and the issues are usually not as trivial/basic as salary.

    There are 15 public universities in Ghana.
    Private ones are more... VVU, Presby, EP, Methodist, Central, Baptist, Islamic, Wisconsin, etc are private universities. All major religious organizations and denominations have a uni plus individuals and foundations as well as foreign unis have a campus or built one.

    Lectures don't go on strike because of non payment of salaries, but it is usually bonuses that they feel is either not enough or requesting for other benefits. please don't misinform the Lady.

    The best university in Ghana is University of Cape Coast, KUNST, the University of Legon. University of Cape Coast hands down in Academics

  • @kofig5519
    @kofig5519 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The issue of strike is not because lecturers are not being paid.
    Lecturers are always paid. But we need to pay them commensurate salaries since the universities by their nature are internationally focused and attract academia from across the world. The value of the salaries has deteriorated and needed to be adjusted.
    It was not about them not being paid

    There are 13 Public universities funded by the Government of Ghana and there are numerous private universities funded by churches and other NGOs. The strike by University lecturers was politically induced and motivated for no good reason by the NDC opposition party of Ghana to cause distress to the current government of Ghana. Strikes are not commonplace in Ghana's institution of higher learning.

    • @freddieadjei3876
      @freddieadjei3876 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Leave NDC out. You are saying all these professors were all influenced by a political party.

    • @jakebaba2149
      @jakebaba2149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is John Mahama's modus operandi; influencing labour strikes like the UTAG, Trotro and now Electricity (ECG) Workers strikes create ill affection towards the sitting Government for political purposes.

    strikes are not often here in Ghana. it is usually when they feel the government is not listening to them enough or meeting their demands that is their last resort.

    Ghana does not have only 3 universities, you are being misinformed by this GIRLY FACE BOY. I am a Ghanaian and LEGON is not a prestigious University because it accepts everyone that applies, what is the acceptance rate? almost 90% so how does that become a prestigious university? Havard accepts less than 5%, that is a prestigious university. 🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠🤠.
