Jimmy, welcome back.! There are several public universities in Ghana 🇬🇭. that are top-notch. Even private universities with a single building as you put it, are affiliated to the public universities.
What I have come to know is Nigerian government is failing the citizens. There should be enough number of universities that can meet the growing population. Even the existing public universities in Nigeria today have a big problem as far as the maintenance of the infrastructure is concerned. For example, when you look at the University of Ibadan and the University of Ghana, there is a fast difference between the two in terms of infrastructure, but both were built in 1948. So my sister, it's not the problem of numerous intake. even those who come to Ghana here are from well-to-do homes that can easily maneuver their way into school in Nigeria. They come here because of among other things, the quality. You have been to the University of Ghana, can you tell me one public university in Nigeria that can match it in terms of infrastructure?

The alumni also play a big role in Ghana because maintenance culture in Africa is poor but due to these associations they try and get things done in their various institutions . I think let’s applaud lily because she is highlighting the various schools and the work of the alumni. Well done everyone involved

There's no Ghanian university that can match OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY, OAU, ife! In terms of infrastructure! Not even in Ghana, we are talking Africa here! .. visit Nigeria & take tours of our Public/federal universities.. UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, OAU, IFE. UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS ETC..

But why should a student write, WAEC, JAMB, and still write entry exams. Then why was the need for WAEC,

Let the students in both countries start the Africa Unity . I like the idea because diversity is the only way to make Africa better . Traveling abroad has made me understand that because west Africans are neighbours and most of us blend together

The way nigérians troop to Ghana for tertiary education is the same way ghanaians troop to other anglophone countries for better education too. It is a matter of choice and a way of studying abroad. For example, I had my tertiary education in Ghana but it was when I travelled to the US to further my education that I realized that the so-called Top Universities in Ghana cannot even be compared with the low-ranking universities in the US

which anglophone countries are you talking about? Ghanaians only go to UK , Canada or US to upgrade their degrees. But they don't troop there because of visa processes, please get your facts well mon amis. Ghanaians don't go to any country in Africa for education if its not outside they stay in their country. lastly there are 10 public technical universities in Ghana, about 10 public universities and affiliated universities....then amazing private universities.

The education in ghana is a system, with the SHS and basic incorporated, if you get it right from the basics you're guaranteed of a good university, especially if get the SHS right. The problem with Nigeria is your senior high is well integrated, thats why there are so many exam before admission. If its about population just build more; you have the lands also, there could be a whole state or community just for universities. Think about it

    Strikes.
    Jamb.
    Competition.
Strike is the biggest thing that turned Nigerians to foreign universities. A 4 years course end up taking 6 to 7 years or indefinitely....
The Nigerian system priorities university, that is why the competition for university education is high in Nigeria. Other countries are not like that, most are alright with secondary school education.Western countries do not priorities university education but primary and secondary, after that you can be whatever through different means.Even jamb is a bottleneck to Nigerian progress, here in England, there is nothing like jamb just school certificate result.Students with distinctions (As) go straight to the top universities and the ones with less apply to other universities. In Nigeria, the school certificate exam is of no use, people still have to cross another hurdle call jamb like everything Nigeria.A country that wants to educate her citizens yet there is one obstacle or the other known as jamb.Cheers.❤

The denser the population, the higher the tax revenue my sister. Every country has corruption issues but priorities should be made clear. There are some monies not being put to use. More infrastructures should be built to accommodate the population of brilliant students. The inconsistency of graduation is also a major factor as you said. Most African countries are facing self centered leadership and that is killing our system of governance and development.

I don’t know whom this piece is addressed to…Nigerians? Ghanaians? Or whom else? The fact that they troop or continue to troop in means something is amiss at home. The Leadership in Nigeria should get to the drawing board and DO SOMETHING different about the education system. And they shouldn’t just sit aloof because in Ghana, the tertiary education system moved from being free, to cost-sharing, to cost-shifting, to cost containment. All these stages have been characterized by social upheavals which till date has not completely died out. No pain, no gain.

Fight means who is strong will win not who passes his exam, The fact is, there must be a screen of students because the numbers are too many than the schools available, So many dont have a choice but to move elsewhere,,

Why, doesn't the government know that the population is growing, hence, the number of students seeking admission? Again, why are they not building new schools to accommodate the population? Meanwhile, the situation is only going to get worse. One thing about Ghana, the citizens will complain and demonstrate on the streets for everything important and trivial. Yes, these students should exercise their options, but until the citizenry develops and builds on their protest spirit, nothing will change.
