- Chicago Air & Water Show, actor Vince Vaughn tandem jumps with the golden knights from 13,000 feet and lands on the beach to start the Air Show. He exited the aircraft with SSG Joe Abeln and members of the Gold Demonstration Team. The photographers are SSG Jon Ewald and SSG Aaron Figel.

I was in the Army 24 years, and served all over the world including 4 combat tours...my best memories were when I was on the US Army Parachute Team...every day was an adventure...

I went skydiving. I had a similar reaction to this. Really what it is is the unpreparedness of being interviewed... you know your gonna be taped but your not ready for the questions on the interview. And your so focused on what your about to do and ready to do it literally your mind kind of goes blank. The only thing your thinking about is doing it and not looking like a fool on camera... you can see his body language is alot chiller and relaxed after the video.... he was feeling good. It's just awkward having a camera in your face when you are doing something extreme that you never did before.

I know you asked this 7 months ago, but that's what's called a wind direction indicator. Before they jump, they throw that out and watch it fall, and based on where on the ground it lands compared to where they threw it, they know where to get out of the plane on the next pass to land close to their target.
He kept saying he's so excited, he looks bored or scared.
forzaitaly1 Yes he didn't look too excited!! lol. I did a tandem skydive in 2012 and I was a lot more excited than he was. I wanted to get back up and do it again. soon I hope. Maybe one of my family members will give me a voucher to do this as a birthday present to do this again lol 😀

Probably scared. I know I was my first time, but I also went during a storm, in a hole in the clouds and my buddy and I were the only ones to go that day so I didn't get to see people landing beforehand.

Not little emotion . Paralyzing fear in the subconscious . I have 15 jumps and most experienced jumpers on the plane are unusually subtle during the flight up . In a meditated state .

He was probably nervous. I've been 6 times and I'm usually thinking about it all the way up. I usually don't see anyone smiling or acting excited. Everyone is just waiting in anticipation. Especially for people who are going for the first time. Even though I've been because I sit there and think to myself, shit this may be the last few minutes of my life lol. Though I am much more animated once I'm done, but I'm always animated.
@@tylerroach6254 nice! I'm doing number 7 as soon as the weather breaks! My last one was a high jump at 21,000 ft. Wasn't really any different Tha a normal 14,000 ft jump though. Doesn't look any higher and doesn't seem like it lasts longer and I could take a breath until I hit about 13,000 ft. Thankfully I didn't panic. I just started making turns back and forth to take my mind off of it.

I thought doing Airborne ops at 800ft ( T10D), 1200ft (T11), or 1500ft (T10 CH47) was extreme, what these guys do is just plain wicked!!

He had a basically normal reaction, he seemed scared. Watch other vids of first time jumpers, they usually act similar.

I had tears in my eyes haha, but I was jumping alone. But the jump itself? Insanely fun and not terrifying at all! The scary part was actually going out of the door of the plane, as I had to hang onto a ledge and get further away from the plane (watch static line jumps). Once I got outside, it was fine. Wasn't scary. Letting go was like ripping off a plaster. Just have to do it.
And then the rest... Pure joy! You are literally flying. You have these giant wings that you control with your hands. It's just insane! (As I'm still in training, I haven't gotten the opportunity to try free falls yet, but I imagine it'll be super fun.)
Maybe he was high or impaired in some way but maybe he got no sleep because he didn't want to scare himself by what he was about to do. Don't know about anyone else but after a point of sleep deprivation your inhibitions and fears aren't as strong.

That's how most people are before they jump. Zoned out and thinking about death. That's how I was the first few times I packed my own parachute. Very miserable, regretting even getting into skydiving, and trying to pretend I wasn't on the verge of pissing my pants around my buddies. I usually give the first couple tandems a fist bump before I jump out and there were a few times they didn't even see my hands in front of there face cause they were so lost in their thoughts.
