    This used to be called the LAG T90PE but is now the P98!
    No question - The LAG T98PE "niche" is anyone looking for a small body electro acoustic who wants a warmer natural acoustic tone - on a budget - and wants it to be super stylish. If thats you - this could be the one for sure!
    This is yet another guitar that I feel sad not to have presented to you earlier but there is only so much time in the day!!! Really pleased you know about it now anyway.
    Hope you like it.

    Holy, that a minor solo at the end was deeply touching, wasn't expecting that. Thank you for that out of the moment magic!

    I have had my T90PE for about 4 years now and this guy is right. I run electric slinky 9's and do finger style with lots of tap on this guitar.
    I lowered the action a little and it is so great to play. I love it.
    It also has thick rounded edges so you can lay over it for hours without needing chest surgery.

    Lovely that, Richard. Always drawn to the Parlour shapes though I have never considered myself much an acoustic player over the decades playing, mostly an electric in my hand. Usually had an acoustic laying about but never quality, really. This is certainly something I would consider .. a natural finish would be my preference but as you say there are ways it interacts with sound more than I realised .. it is a beautiful piece for the money. Once again an amazing guitar, great price and each guitar I see you reviewing, they're made with care and attention to detail, would give most the other well-known makers a run for their money there is no doubt about that.
    I think we share a very similar taste when it comes to guitars there's no doubt about that. My love for Gordon Smith and Godin led me to your website and can't believe I have still not visited your store! tsk
    Every brand you stock you know you are getting quality for money because you've invested so much time in finding the best luthiers selling guitars that frankly, are better than something you'll see hanging on the shelf for two, three times the money just because of what it says on the headstock
    Great stuff and keep up the good work

    Played one yesterday. Exceptional build quality and resonance to it. Bang on the money if you’re in the market and want a quality acoustic without breaking the bank . They will do well

    I was just looking at PRS parlor guitars and stumbled upon this exact same guitar. I quit playing for several years so I had no idea who Lag guitars were. I had never heard of them. I picked it up and started playing around on it and next thing I knew, I was buying it over my beloved PRS brand guitars. I love how the edges on the body are just slightly rounded over which provides so much more playing comfort.

    Hi Richard, love your honest video reviews. Have you any Faith Nexus guitars you can compare which look beautiful and also the Faith Mahogany range which all look excellent. Perhaps compare the different body shapes. Keep up the good work.

    Great review. We tried the faith Naked Mercury parlour the other day and found the sound to be one of the best in the shop. How would you compare the sound of this one with the Faith? Also, is the Lag guitar as loud as the Faith? The projection of the Faith was astonishing. I love the fact that the Lag is electro-acoustic so that you are able to increase the bass. The Faith was only acoustic and the bass was lacking.

    This is the demo that i wanted to watch..... connecting to a amplifier instead of having a mic in front. I was deceived once because she used mic in front of the guitar, i supposed its a condenser mic, so it produced good sound but when i tried, it lacks bass

      Snapping Turtle the guild is £600. Thats £200 more and it’s not electro. That would open up a whole range of options I won’t bore you with but I think it’s fair to say it’s very much a different price point with different focus ie electro vs non electro

    Hi Richard ! Cheers for the video! Absolutely lovely guitar !! I seen what you mean with regards to our conversation yesterday between this and the Faith Bloodmoon! Just curious do you have a favourite tonewood mix when it comes to LAG guitars ? I seen your video on the T70ACE and think it is a beautiful looking instrument! But this my first time seeing the LAG Mahogany, and it looks stunning!

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will be honest that I haven't got on too well with the combination of spruce/snakewood. It looks pretty but tonally I just find it all too sharp and unnatractive to my ear RELATIVELY to the cedar options and the mahogany. The 98 series is a lovely warmer sounding guitar - so will get the grand auditorium to show you guys on here too. Again - for the money its just beautiful. Nice combination of visual asthetics and tone at a great price.

    • @spor5521
      @spor5521 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichardsGuitarshop brilliant Richard thank you!! I think the T70ACE you showed before was Spruce Top with sapele back and sides! Really looking forward to your next LAG video!

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spor5521 Again for the money - STUNNING. Love that guitar - hence I have reviewed it. You then have the T88 which is simply the same guitar with gloss. Again - some people love gloss - some dont. It certainly protects the guitar in gigging situations and brings out the grain etc. Mahogany often transforms when lacquered as shown here. When keeping the price down though you will get moe guitar for your money without the gloss if you buy wisely because the gloss costs more to produce.

    • @spor5521
      @spor5521 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichardsGuitarshop thank you! Really looking forward to seeing the grand auditorium in the 98 series ! A lot of the LAG features appeal to me...price point, thinner neck, great finish, headstock etc ... I have had my mind so focused on the Bloodmoon because of its looks, that I have ignored a lot of other brands. Which as you say, in terms of value for money, is often the way to go!

  • @Barbarapape
    @Barbarapape 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This seems to be a guitar for finger style playing, the sound is a bit too toppy for me, and the string Zing buzz would drive me mad.
    Shame as it looks very tempting for the price.

    • @RichardsGuitarshop
      @RichardsGuitarshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Allan Pape maybe I shouldn’t have been so honest to show you how guitars arrive from the supplier ? The action is set beautifully low and we set up every guitar to perfection to suit the players requirement. You are correct it’s setup for a finger style player but our service ensures you receive a guitar setup to your spec. Smaller body guitars especially at this price can sound toppy hence why this ones stands out as it is far more mellow than most

    • @Barbarapape
      @Barbarapape 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RichardsGuitarshop Thanks for your reply, realy good mellow sounding acoustics tend to be expensive with large bodies making them hard to play.
      I am shure that with a full set up for playing with a pick this would be an excellent guitar.

      jim bayerle hence the focus on it being a great small body electro more so than calling it a parlor. I love the parlor tone and feel but this is a different concept. For people who need small dimensions but don’t want the stereo typical parlor that they tend to get boxed into as their only option
