@@Randomstuff33688 Not true. For example, the Divinity series is going strong, with Original Sin 2 both selling well and getting a lot of praise from critics. Isometric RPGs are returning thanks to guys at Obsidian and Larian. There's still hope. I also dream of a Revenant (1999) remake/reboot.
If you want to be immersed in an amazing story, with fleshed out characters, a great theme, a heartbreakingly beautiful soundtrack, and a great concept, you OWE it to yourself to try Arcanum.
Actually, it's the suitable music for every real life city. Makes you realize that nothing's really happening, people just do same thing everyday with not much purpose. Nobody really wants to improve anything, criminals and police may even be friends, money can buy everyone and everything, et cetera. @geoffd6 Nice timing, I completed a playthrough of the game the day you posted. Half-Orc technologist/firearms master. Most of my complaints are solved by Drogg Black Tooth's UAP and Krupps Ranged Mod. I got to actually damage Kerghan this time around instead of waiting for Loghaire and Dog to slowly whittle him down. Follower AI is still shoddy. Any healing items get wasted at the end of combat when my entire team uses one each to heal 10hp on me. Thats my only significant complaint now
@ATPrelax Yhe nostalgia i feel when i hear this is the one of an age I know... my childhood. This and OOt were ''my'' games. Really, it's just now that you realise how good was the time we lost playing these games. RIP ARCANUm, RIP KOTOR and RIP OOT may no remake exist please please stop the ruining they did with swtor, fallout3, oblivion and world of warcraft
I think Fallout does... Its different than Arcanum, and does not accomplish this to the same degree as Arcanum, but it does to an extent. Think about the reaction to Galaxy News Radio or the visual reaction of seeing the wreckage of the landmarks of DC. Metro 2033 also does simulate an environment incredibly well
@shimazu32 Oh, and Raven still plants more than half her arrows in the back of my head or the backs of teammates. She nailed Loghaire so many times in one combat round that he attacked her, causing her to leave the group while everyone else complained about attacking good people as they killed her. Doh.
@Pandemic97 gog.com has a digital copy available for about 6 bucks I believe. Patched to work, as well as a host of community patches still around that fix alot of bugs.
@Pandemic97 You do know that now there are to other versions right? I'm asuming you had the 2001 version, which only works on W.95, and 98. But there are A 2003 version which works on those two + Me and XP. A 2009 version which works only on XP, but with some bugs fixed I think. If you weren't using the 2001, I apologize for giving crap advice. Also, I don't believe the 2003 and 2009 support Vista, so that may be the problem. Anyways, you can get the 2003 and 2009 quite cheap on amazon(dot)com.
Oh my god, I realize now that I've had the idea of a game called Knights Of Tarot which is a RPG with steampunk element in a medieval setting, which has a main character called Tarant. And I realize the similarities of my own ideas and this game until now, AM I GOING TO JAIL?
@@knightsoftarot6794 If so, then it's cool. You can take for example in the setting Europe of the 17-19 century, especially Eastern, or even Russia of those years.A tasty morsel for such games)
@@АлександрКобяков-м3щ After so many years the ideas have changed around and I'll be much less to get a lawsuit thankfully XD, the setting is gonna be a lot more Tolkien-y
Oh, good old Tarant. Listening to this great tune, I remember with glee the time I massacred the entire city, just because I could. Ah, what a game this was...
i;ve heard that gaming communities sometimes collect money for companies to start a game they want, maybe we could do something like that ? create a website or something that would advertise the idea fo collecting money for arcanum 2, but oh god please not FPP like fallout 3,.
Plus, Mass Effect is basically as generic as you can get in terms of setting (totally not Star Wars!) and plot, and it's most definitely a shooter in terms of gameplay.
Methinks you're wearing rose tinted glasses while looking through a rose tinted window. Now, dont get me wrong. I liked Arcanum quite a bit. The setting was good. The music was good. The whole magic against technology theme was good. But the engine/mechanics were craptacular. My character passed out from firing a pistol once, for example. Or Virgil wasting all his magic trying to heal a tech character. Graphics were sorta ugly/simplistic, too. It was good, sure, but not THAT good.
No it does not, game developers these days fucking suck. All they have in mind is milking the cow, not delivering interesting content. Let's leave it at that and not taint the memory of this game with some fucking WoW clone gone bad.
To this day when I hear this, it makes me think of digging through rubbish bins trying to find materials to make an Elephant Gun.
i still remember my mechanical spider wiping out enemies before i enter the scene
I literally said this to my brother before reading your comment. 😂❤
OH a hammer handle!
Don't mind me sitting inside, starting at the shopkeeper, waiting for them to go to bed while i stay in le-shope unguarded and alone.

Hey, who knows. VtM:B 2's been announced. Anything's possible!
Maybe it's best to leave the license alone. Seeing how so many sequels coming out much later seem to butcher the original games
or remake
I'd be happy with a remake.
Greatest single area/hub in any CRPG, ever.

I agree! I miss the 2D era very much. Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment, and Arcanum were fantastic games.

This music leaves a lot to interpret ^^ Indeed those are beautiful pieces of art.
Nice comment dude
By the way, Tarant itself is similar to many large cities in Russia now,the architecture of the 17-19 centuries makes itself felt to this day)
wow, this soundtrack is amazing. I've never played the game but I guess I'll give it a try now after hearing this music
Did you ?
They need to remake this game its to epic to be forgotten :(
Ben Houge, we want more music like this one! Respect!
It's so sad troika is over. This was one of the truly great RPG games that ever existed. Even the music is impressive!
This brings back so many good memories..BEST game ever.
I remembered playing this game a some time ago...
This game is really something, the atmosphere is otherworldly!
Thank you for uploading!
wow, this brings back memories. what a beautiful song.
I want to live in a victorian society with steampunk reminiscences,i want a new game like this!!!
Tarant was truly a greatly designed city.
Troika :(
Only weird thing was... Gill Bates. Mr. Bates
Thanks for reminding me, I haven't played that game in ages! :D

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl is also an extremely atmospheric game...And Deus Ex was also brilliant!
also in 2024
Had a craving for this particular tune today so here I am. I was right - it was Tarant :)

I've played Dragon Age: Origin. It can lick Arcanum's boots.

This game has the most epic Final Boss encounter i've ever seen! :O
With master persuasion you can convince the final boss that they are wrong and they don't fight you.
@ATPrelax I think so too. But i guess its just a "grass was greener when I was young" thing.
Yes it is a bit of a older PC game, but you can find it online for pretty cheap in most places.

I play this at work to imagine I'm a dwarf. And who you think you are to call a dwarf his name?
@donuthead551 I think that's why he said LEGAL. It would be amazing to have the original game as it was released.
