1994 was Jim Carrey’s breakout year. He was in a popular American TV sketch comedy show called “In Living Color” up until 1994, then he was in 3 big movies that all came out that year: Ace Ventura, The Mask and Dumb & Dumber.
"In Living Color" was such a great show. Really disappointed that the DVD releases were butchered. Particularly the "Men on Film" sketches. Season One box set anyway, I didn't buy anymore to see if all of them had the same treatment.
Jim Carey got started on the iconic sketch comedy show "In Living Color". You definitely have to give that a watch. It launched the careers of the Wayans Bros, Jim Carey, and Jamie Fox. Jennifer Lopez even started on the show as an intermission dancer known as the "Fly Girls".

An excellent reaction. Carrey was actually in the last Dirty Harry film, The Dead Pool (1988). He played a high concept metal rocker. For a shot time. 😏 When he said he wasn't ready for a relationship, that was a crack on Einhorn, not all women. 😏 Einhorn, by the way, can be translated as "one horn," so there was another clue.
Funny thing is I always said that if they ever had actors play live action Wolverine and Deadpool in the 90's it should have been Clint Eastwood and Jim Carrey respectively.
The wildest thing about this movie to me is how different the world is compared to that era. I mean I saw it when it came out, and a lot of that stuff just fit right in. This movie has to many iconic lines that are still quoted to this day. Jim Carrey back then was a global phenomenon. "She's got to be a love interest or something" Hoo boy.
The stadium where they shot the football scenes was known as Joe Robbie Stadium; it’s now known as Hard Rock Stadium. I used to work there for five years, and worked events that ranged from Miami Dolphins football games to concerts by U2, Metallica, Beyoncé & Jay-Z, Taylor Swift, The Eagles, and The Rolling Stones.
My dad used to run a baggage company (that my grandpa had started), they handled a lot of the moving luggage for different events between the airlines and Joe Robbie (and cruise ships where another large part of his business), He actually got 2 tickets to Superbowl 29 (pretty sure thats the right one based on the dates) because of his connections to the stadium, him and my older brother went, they brought home the seat cushion, not sure if thats still around somewhere or not, we've moved a few times since then and not sure who had it last, my dad also took me to a Marlins game one time, I still have the souvenir ball my dad bought me, still wrapped in plastic in a box somewhere.
"Once Bitten" 1985, "Peggy Sue Got Married" 1986 and "Earth Girls Are Easy" 1988 are his first most notable roles to me before "In Living Color" 1990. His wiki pages says his first staring role was in The Duck Factory 1984 as a cartoonist.

The music & scene that he does when he first found out that "Einhorn is Finkle" is from the movie -The Crying Game". You may want to check that out, but it's not a comedy, it's drama.
When I was a kid my family lived in Homestead, FL which is part of Miami-Dade County so the Dolphins where my football team growing up, they also at the time shared the stadium (then known as Joe Robbie Stadium) with the then Florida Marlins (now Miami Marlins), my dad and brother went to the Superbowl the year it was hosted there and me and my dad went to a Marlins game at that stadium (I have a souvenir baseball from that trip) so i've been to that stadium. Also as a kid the school I was in took us on a field trip to a renaissance fair, the fair was held on the grounds of that building where the party is (the "do not go in their" party) so i've actually stood on those same steps they are walking up from the car (fun fact thats actually the rear of the property). My oldest sister also worked with autistic kids for some big organization and they had organized some kind of group outing or something one time that Dan Marino was involved in (he has an autistic kid if you didn't know) so my sister got to spend a day hanging out with Dan Marino, keeping in mind he was our quarterback growing up. So I have some connection to this film.

Speaking of comedy classics, you HAVE to see THE PRODUCERS (1967). Stars Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel and directed by Mel Brooks. Gene Wilder got a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for this, while Mel Brooks won Best Original Screenplay. JOJO RABBIT owes a lot to this film.
The Mask was the real springboard to success for Jim Carrey. It came out in the same year after this one. You can say this one was the first real hit and The Mask the blowout that made him an overnight sensation
You should watch the movie "Once Bitten" (1985). It was Jim Carrey's first movie. I loved watching it when I was a kid growing up. I would love to see your reaction to it
You should definitely check out the second Ace Ventura movie. Personally I loved it. It had me rolling I would say it was probably the craziest movie I had ever seen.

Yes. I'd forgotten that fact until seeing it just here.
Sean Young was also in The Original Dune film. First thing I saw her in.
