@@Legoboy3998 you must not be familiar with LA or where any equipment that you’re suggesting would be located as compared to where the clean up is happening. I get your logic but in this current scenario it just simply wouldn’t make sense.
I would have thought a 'Curotto Can' with no front in it wouldn't be a bad idea, then the 'truck' could be used as a sort of DIY digger, and you could still shovel rubbish in it as well.

This just happened here in Vegas a few months ago - a truck caught fire while in a cul-de-sac of a residential neighborhood. I think they traced it back to someone throwing away full aerosol cans of paint remover or something like that.
Damn, what a mess. Definitely not the most efficient method of cleanup, but I guess they got the job done. Since they brought a scout truck with some containers they should have grabbed an already destroyed container from the shop, had a shop guy torch out the front so they could use it as a giant scoop, and save about 10 man hours of labor, lol. Nice work on this video, I know filming for this long and then going through the editing and uploading process for something this long isn’t the easiest thing.

When you have to clean up on the fly in the middle of a route day you don't always have the luxury of ideal equipment. it's expensive to have a rear loader or worse a grapple truck sitting around waiting for an emergency, because you need those trucks out there making money. that they were able to summon the manpower this quickly is impressive
You're looking at a company who aren't the brightest of people. Other companies would have any of their bulky waste trucks come and take care of this mess, while they have a mechanic look over the main truck for any damage.

I was a firefighter and we had a garbage truck load catch fire right outside our station at 5:15am we had him dump it in our lot. It was there most of the day until a crew came out to pick it up. It being the summertime it stunk and we could not open our bay doors the rest of the day due to the smell.

It’s a fire in the load. These trucks are 200-500k just dump it have the fd put out the fire if it’s too big then put it all back in and off on the route again.
