At 6:35 you said after the BIOS update I should see that pop up. I never did. I instead had to go back into bios and select to use the Intel default settings like you show later. But is a disaster score, just purchased 42800 in CB-R23, now 39100 and 2205 in CB2024.
If you want stability, better use motherboard with H610 chipset. No overclocking will be applied, thus garantee maximum stability. If you want highest speed, then use motherboard with z690/790 chipset and either fry your CPU to death or learn how to undervolt your CPU.
B series like B760 are also safe bet but you won't be able to run CPU at 5.4 you have to downlock your p-core to 5.1ghz and e-core to 4.0 with UVP enabled -0.030 & LLC 50-80 on MSI boards (only MSI LLC).
Prawn, these settings made my system run like complete dog shit. No offense! I run almost the same exact setup you have (z790 carbon wifi and 14900k/4090). Spent all weekend trying to figure out what the hell happened. Latest bios, ME firmware, windows etc, every game I played ran like crap with fps drops. Had to restore all settings and select Tower Cooling, then manually set the power to 253/253/307 and XMP. Nothing else, whatever those intel recommended settings are they are crap! (at least for me). I play Apex Legends/Overwatch 2/Mortal Kombat 1, all were stuttering and running terrible! Apex Legends finally feels smooth again, but it still has a weird issue where I won't get my 240 fps until I have the game open for a minute or two. MSI NEEDS to figure this out asap IMO.
Does changing the Current Limit from 307 to 400 help? Need to monitor the clock speeds and make sure you keep them during gaming, if you’re not then that might be the reason. “In BIOS, either 307A, 333A, 356A or 400A. I would choose something that keeps the clocks for 99% of time in games. If it throttles ("IA: Electrical Design Point/Other (ICCmax,PL4,SVID,DDR RAPL" in HWiNFO) it's not a problem and if it downclocks during stress tests that is fine as well. 307A is stock and is in the Intel datasheets, but depending on clocks and vcore as you can see here this can down clock in games. 400A is the max Intel allows for the KS, so anything in between should be fine.”
I haven't been able to look at your system, but I would guess that what you saw has been the Effect of enabling CEP combined with "normal" MSI LiteLoad. Because CEP needs to have AC_LL=DC_LL=LLC. This is the case if you choose "Intel Default" in LiteLoad (you can match everything also by hand, but you need to know what you are doing). If you use MSI "normal" (or advanced) LiteLoad without any further adjusting, CEP will throttle your system, because in this condition MSI has a lower AC_LL then DC_LL and both most likely don't match the LLC. Short version: if you want Intel Standard Settings you need to set all things to Intel Standard, including LiteLoad.

@Kapono5150 that is funny. love the car. totally for got about the law suit till one day got 7 bucks in the mail. ahh, naivete tasted so sweet. i would expect the same from intel, but i hope the mobos and intel get on the same page.
Glad I skipped the newest gen intel and settled on a cheap 11900k. Super overclock ability and stable as can be. It's still waaaaay more cpu than I need and no silly efficiency core bs.
To be fair you still could of gone 12900k and got all the next gen chipset advantages without any of these problems. It's only 13th and 14th gen hitting issues
@@slayerr4365 Ecores vs performance cores mainly. Also the 11900k has incredibly good latency which the next generations all seem to have lost. It's the last good intel gaming cpu and I hope they come back to a pure performance design instead of trying mimic amd with its chiplets. I currently have an all core 5.4 oc on the 11900k too which is a bit out of the range of the next generations unless you invest in a very expensive water cooling setup. I get the 5.4 off air but to be fair the pc is in a climate controlled room that never gets above 70F and its a HUGE bequiet dark rock elite. So no worries from me I have all the cpu I need for years to come.
I have an MSI pro board with 13900k with the default settings (4096W etc) and it would hit the thermal limit of 100 degrees C at around 300W but no stability issues. I use the Noctua NH-D15, but my case isn't loaded with fans. 1 back (intake, CPU fans blow the same direction) and 2 front exhaust. I have a 4070ti non super. The Corona benchmark used to be around 37-38 seconds, it's 40 seconds now. But if that prolongs the CPU lifetime I really don't mind. I've set it manually to 288W now without fw update.
Asus did the same thing. I built my first DDR5 PC I9 13k 2 Years ago and had blue screens for like 10 months I was pissed because I put about 2800 into this build. I wanted it to be future proof for the next few years for editing videos and for my photography workflow. I had the worst year just because of my computer and the amount of money that I put into it
overall, a strange situation with my processor. In settings 253/253/400 I definitely overheat while playing and the computer often turns off. The second settings are 253/253/304, my processor clock is 5.6 and at these settings it is unstable, it drops and increases during games. The only settings that give me the lowest temperatures, but sometimes it throws me out of the game but not from the computer, are unlimited power settings at 4000w 😆i9-14900k here with msi z790 pro p
what Voltage to cpu.. sounds like your AIO or whatever cpu coolor you're using isn't seated properly or the Voltage is too high. Or enhanced boost is on.
I just set p core limit to 53 on my 13700k. Runs at 1.22v under load and scores slightly worse single core and same multi core in cinebench. Peaks at 225w and 82° on the hottest core on air. This should limit the voltage spiking for single core boost as well. Much easier than doing all this until the microcode update comes from Intel.
I've watched a lot of these vids and my takeaway is that I should have went with Gen 9 because the 10th gen and up are not ready for the regular guy who just wants to do some gaming and video editing. The 12Gen - 14Gen boards and CPUs are total crap. Have fun burning up $500 worth of computer components and having to run below the advertised performance.
Thanks for the info in this video, do you think this bios issue would cause problems with audio and DJ software? I have just purchased an msi katana 15 i9 and I have lots of audio glitches with software I use on my old i7 laptop with no problems. Any advice would be great before retuning this laptop. Many thanks.
Have this issue with my i7-14700K, did all the bios updates and flipped it to Intel Defaults but now XMP only registers 1 stick of Ram being used. It doesnt detect the B2 slot if i have it enabled.
Thank you for doing this, one question I have is can we choose the intel default cooler setting and then go into the other settings and change them or will that mess things up?

Hello, before you go, thank you very much for the video. I solved my problem by deactivating the turboboss, I know that I lose a lot of performance. - The current processor that I have running is an i14700k. I saw a long time ago that Msi has that BETA version of bios but with all the problems we had with the k gen13 processors and 14 and intel and the motherboards, who do not agree. I would like to know if it has a configuration for 14700k Intel7 users because I see that TH-camrs only use the i9... What I'm going for is to download a BETA version of Bios, and using us as a tester seems strange to me but good. I solved the problem of crashes and blue screens by disabling the TuroBoss but I know that this is not a solution. - Since when it is activated it is working all the time at 5.5 ghz and when it is deactivated it drops to 3.2 ghz... Until At the moment I don't see the solution for i714700k, greetings.-
With this method i fell we louse too much performance i rather set down the p cores manually to 5.6 ghz and keep the power limit to 253 or 288 (in my case) and the cpu current at 400 set cpu lite load to mode 10 this fixe my crashing problems while trying to play games completely with a minimal amount of performance louse. and still getting temp around 85c under full laud might not work for everybody but it worked for me so far after 1 mouth of usage .
problem is degradation being quite significant...I promise you this much you keep staying at those temps in 1 year your chip will be ruined....thats a promise.
I had a 13900KF since launch , ASRock MOBO. No issues at all , is this an issue with all Intel i9's or just certain motherboard brands and chip lottery? If it's chip lottery, can't you just RMA the chip as it's not functioning to spec?

But, when they refuse to help when you just purchased the items, it makes you climb walls.
for i9 stability you need to have 150-200$ cooler water ones !!! Intel pushes this cpus with tons of cores and over 6 ghz and no wonder they crash especially with crappy coolers
TVB voltage optimizations will cause too high voltages and mess with undervolting...Turn it off and if you want significantly lower temps turn OFF Enhanced turbo
people just because youre not thermal throttling at 85c doesnt mean your chip is going to last. you shouldnt be even hitting much over 70c while gaming ....over 80 will absolutely positively degrade these cpus at a significant rate.
Awesome video! but why did you not show tests after that bios update to check scores? and use R23! what the rest of the world is using.
I did. The MSI update score was the bios update one? And 24 is the latest version?
Thanks for the video! Unfortunately there is no "Intel Default settings" or anything like it in my MSI Raider GE78HX 13VH´s BIOS.
What a huge mess Intel has created. Do you think we could see a class action lawsuit from this situation?
Good luck with that
they are never worth it. i was in the class action against toyota and thier shitty airbags. got a check for 7.29us. 8 years after we said ok to be in the suit.
@@RiceNoodlestw it’s kinda crazy how you brought up Toyota airbags bc I work at Toyota and we replace airbags almost every week, lol 😂
@Kapono5150 that is funny. love the car. totally for got about the law suit till one day got 7 bucks in the mail. ahh, naivete tasted so sweet. i would expect the same from intel, but i hope the mobos and intel get on the same page.
Intel isnt to blame here, it's the motherboard initial stock setting which is too high that cause high temp and crashes.
Good news that you don't have stability issues!
bro you gonna smoke your chip way faster than necessary, Recommend you watch this video and take notes lol.
Asus did the same thing. I built my first DDR5 PC I9 13k 2 Years ago and had blue screens for like 10 months I was pissed because I put about 2800 into this build. I wanted it to be future proof for the next few years for editing videos and for my photography workflow. I had the worst year just because of my computer and the amount of money that I put into it
I’m looking into a 13 or 14 Gen i7 for my new build. What are your thoughts on these CPU, prawny?
I've not had issues with the i7 from either of those generations.

overall, a strange situation with my processor.
Try 125 for pl1 253 pl2 and 307..
what Voltage to cpu.. sounds like your AIO or whatever cpu coolor you're using isn't seated properly or the Voltage is too high. Or enhanced boost is on.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
It's 13 and 14 that are the issue. As far as I know 12th was solid.
You don't neccessarily have to put the update on a USB, you can navigate local SSDs just fine.
Bitlocker may muddle things
z690 EDGE DDR4 Board latest bios is only 11th of april ,
They're meant to be rolling out new BIOS updates by the end of the month
Thank you for doing this, one question I have is can we choose the intel default cooler setting and then go into the other settings and change them or will that mess things up?
You can

Hey this might be a stupid question but why is my Vcore so low in my Bios?
My 14900k shows 0.887V for example, while yours shows 1.024.
I am using a Z790 msi motherboard also with mostly default settings
I have had no stability issues with the water-cooled settings.
Excellent
Ah this latest bios update contains an etvb bug so I'm waiting for the new bios
Should you still enable TVB Voltage optimizations if you are undervolting with a negative offset?
Intel i9 instability are price of pushing clocks from Intel too high from 12th to 14th gen and adding more cores on that and you get barbecue or crashes
hey, how i can find this shedule for 13700k?
Hello, in my bios I don’t have the GT CEP settings …
Has the new settings/bios update caused any noticeable negative difference in gaming?
You will notice nothing besides 5-10fps at max. Better off to adjust the chip and prolong its life.

I have an MSI motherboard. I updated the BIOS and made the changes you have suggested. I have an i9-14000K chip. My temps on my P-cores have come down to about 74-88C, however when I'm playing games I get spikes up to 100C on about half my cores that I can't seem to stop. Any suggestions or should I just leave it alone? My Cinebench score is already in the toilet around 1825, but my game performance is more than acceptable. (I primarily play Star Citizen and I'm getting 70-100 FPS).
You've got the latest bios updates? I.e. the end of May? I believe there are new settings now.

Does this temperature and instability problem exist in all Intel processor models or only in K series?
Hi is it possible todo a how-to guide on an ASUS ROG board Z690 to tweak the settings on 14900K. Much Appreciated Thanks
SOOOOOOOOOOON
Hi..after the bios update i had an incredible loss of performance with the processor i have 13900(No k series, only 13900). what should i do in this case ? before the update i didn't have any crashes or heat problems and my processor was much more performant. i use z790-p motherboard. how can i access the performance before the update ?
Until At the moment I don't see the solution for i714700k, greetings.-
You honestly don't lose much performance by turning turbo boost off. Which program are you loosing performance?
With this method i fell we louse too much performance i rather set down the p cores manually to 5.6 ghz and keep the power limit to 253 or 288 (in my case) and the cpu current at 400 set cpu lite load to mode 10
this fixe my crashing problems while trying to play games completely with a minimal amount of performance louse. and still getting temp around 85c under full laud
might not work for everybody but it worked for me so far after 1 mouth of usage .
problem is degradation being quite significant...I promise you this much you keep staying at those temps in 1 year your chip will be ruined....thats a promise.
Thank you sirrrrrrr
