Korean Twilight series is honestly fascinating. Cover is GORGEOUS, and back in 2009 when people still cared about the series unironically they had an event going on where you can get postcard with the cover illustration on it when you purchased the book. I still have that somewhere in my parents' home...
Anyways, the one thing people who did not read Twilight in Korean don't understand is that in Korean translation, the translator literally worked her HEART OUT and the book is actually... Very well written. I guess what happened is that the translator read the English version and went _yuck_ and just decided to reconstruct the book herself? I was first introduced to the series in Korean, and when I was good enough with English I decided to read the English version of Twilight because I really didn't understand when people made fun of how poorly the book was written, and yeah... I then understood _why_.
But let’s be honest, back in 2009 A LOT of teens loved twilight! Even tho the book was trash, we still liked it and it’s okay to like trash, especially when you re young and you have no/ barely no experience with quality books.
Now, everyone are making fun of this book and I can understand why but twilight was great memories from my teenage years.
Oh no, now I want to read it in Korean, because I would actually love to read a well-written version of Twilight 😭 Here's my new motivation to learn the language, I guess lol

This is the other way around for me! I feel like I’m way slower with ebooks, maybe because it hurts my eyes tho.
We have the same problem in Australia right now physical books are anywhere from $20-50 at the moment and ebooks are the price of what paperbacks used to be 😭

My tip if your in Australia is to buy books a Big W - most books are between $12-$16, including new releases

I was about to come here to say ita the same in New Zeland. A paper back is anywhere between $25 and $40 hard backs don't exist and kindle books work out to be about $15

Hendrix is so good at replicating 80's horror., even if it's not set in the 80's if you get what I mean? Like he nails the vibe consistently. If you're not burnt out his newest How to Sell a Haunted House is really good too.

About reading fasting on ebooks I've heard its partly because your eyes and brain get used to the font! Because you don't switch fonts between books your brain gets used to reading that font and can read faster!

I'm definitely the other way other around with the slower physical books, I get distracted easily on my phone or computer but having music or a sitcom I've already seen on and reading a physical book I can sit for hours.
Omg I didn’t realize that I have “The Name Drop” by Susan Lee on my TBR already! But I agree. I read ebooks so much faster than physical books. I especially devour library books faster than the ones I own. It doesn’t help that I work at a library lol

I also read physical books way slower too, then kindle. For me I like to make the font bigger, so it’s easier for me to read it.

Books are, thankfully, relatively cheap in the UK, but over the last couple of years there's been a noticeable increase in price.
I love cheesy romcoms so I will definitely be checking that out, and my friend is huge into Kpop so ill have to make her read it with me 😍

From what you said Korean editing world might be similar to Brazil! I was so used to gorgeous cover and amazing editing that when I came to France I was underwhelmed by bookstores haha ❤ books here are much more accessible though

hi cari, i love physical books, but I live a nomadic life, so buying books or finding a physical english library is quite difficult. As you now have a kindle, are you able to read many books on them, are you able to use the Libby library on it as well?
Also I may not be able to touch those books but through the video I can tell their textures, and I really just want to touch them (I love paper)
Yes i use ilbby and send all my books to kindle! It literally changed me life. I was a “no ebooks” girl for all my life cause i love holding a book but now i read soooo much more and so often because of my kindle. I highly highly recommend!

I live in Belgium and i feel you with the English section at the bookstore. It wasn't great (and fantasy just doesn't get translated to Dutch very often and if it is, then they just stop translating in the middle of a series 😑😑) with the popularity of BookTok is has become so much better over the last year

Highly recommend horror series "My heart is a chainsaw" by indigenous author Stephen Graham Jones. It's scary for sure 😅, but awesome character development 🤗. I tore through the two books that have been released (trilogy).

I’m a physical book girle but I only read some books online when I’m like 70 percent sure I won’t like them but still hoping I’ll enjoy the experience, and for some reason I always end up finishing online books faster as well! I think it’s cause I’m trying to speedrun the plot 😭
Examples include;
The love hypothesis (went out and bought the physical copy cause I enjoyed it a lot, it was a fun sweet read)
The summer I turned pretty (genuinely got mad at how bad the storytelling was cause I study storytelling and writing and I- was not my cup of tea)
Haunting Adeline (HATED. Hated hated hated. No further thoughts just burn the book.)
