Hellooo I hope you enjoyed the video and found a couple photos that were not entirely ruined by light leaks hehe :,D I've got two thank-you-shoutouts I want to write here: 1. Tarion - thank you for the wonderful sponsorship, the bag is so nice and I'm so happy they reached out and support the channel! If you want to check them out you can do so here www.amazon.com/dp/B09XMJKR7B/ and here tarion.eu/ 2. The Patreon Community - I launched my Patreon at the beginning of the month and amazingly 28 people have already subscribed! So huge thank you to them for the support, they're credited at the end of the video. If you're interested in LR Presets, AE Files and postcards you can check out the tiers here: www.patreon.com/teocrawford Have a great week, Teo
0:24 is such a beautiful composition. The framing from the car window. The way the road guides the up to the house and into the beautiful colored sky. Wow.
The photo at 12:09 is like a dream. Happy accidents are honestly amazing. The light leaks are unfortunate, but honestly, they make very cool photos sometimes like that one. It's also good to see that film photography is not always perfect, and I love your transparency by the way! Amazing videos.
The leaks were quite unfortunate, but now I do want to try and shoot a roll of Portra 800 myself, the colours looked amazing and I can't wait to see your next roll 😊
Ahhh you should definitely try it out, and hopefully you'll get more consistent results than me lol👀😂 I'm surely going to try it again, but in a different camera🤗
Aww thanks, happy to always see you here!🤗🙏🏼 Ahh thank you, but you make it sound like I did it, which is not the case hahah - it's an experiment, so let's see whether I can make it work in the next months🙌🏼 Thank you for being part of the journey❤️
So unfortunate with the light leaks Teo, although there were a few that I think added a pretty cool unique effect on the images. It was nice following along either way, what a beautiful morning that was :)
Aww great, I'm happy you see some beauty in the errors. A friend of mine was also in awe with the look and in some cases I think it really is lovely, however oftentimes it was too much for my taste or unfitting, such as the white stripes.🤷🏻♂️ But I like your take on the collage look!🤗
I absolutely loved this video. I know some of the light leaks were disappointing, but you still got some great shots! The scenery and morning lights is absolutely gorgeous in that spot!
So how did the overlapping images have pictures from what looks like the inside of an apartment? I’m seeing windows and light shining through blinds, maybe I missed a detail somewhere, but regardless I think some of these shots are awesome with that double exposure/light leak look 👏🏻
Haha nicely spotted! I didn't finish the roll in the video and shot the last couple frames of the film in my apartment. What I myself don't understand is how they got to multiple images, because I think it should only hit the last photo of the session🤔 It appears that the film must have been in such a mess and scramble inside the camera🤷🏻♂️😅 Anyway, glad you can spot some beauty in the errors🤗
The shot at 12:00 looks more than semi-decent! It seems intentional, just the white stripe is a bit too wide. (Maybe warp the white to be narrower and make it 5:4..?)
Eek, those are some bad leaks, and on a roll of Portra no less! The only time I had a leak this bad wasn't exactly a leak. I opened the back without rewinding by accident 😅 With some of these I was getting happy accident vibes though and the colours were certainly beautiful. This kind of thing is why I test any new camera with cheap home developed bw film. Although of course "cheap" is relative with film prices right now. I laughed out loud today when I saw the current price of a roll of Kodak Gold 200. I bought a whole stash worth at 7.50 for a 3 pack some 6+ years ago and that's been keeping my wallet happy. Your videos make me want to shoot more colour, although I thoroughly dislike developing that stuff.
Hi! I don't know if anyone told you this already, but those leacks on Praktica cameras is pretty common! I've have those problem too on my PLC3. But it can be fixed by taping a back door of the camera with some dark tape or something like this :D Like the back parts, the gaps .
It seems you have a lot of double exposures whether intended or not. Most of them work. Perhaps the film advance mechanism is not advancing properly? Good stuff overall.
I love your photos and videos ! Have you ever tried the Portra 160 in the same way you tested the other films like in your videos on the Portra 400/800, Gold 200, ... ?
Love the videos Teo, it's really helping me getting started! As a newbie, I'm curious to know what causes the light leaks and also the overlapping? How do I avoid this? I have the Pentax MX with a Portra 800 roll atm.
hello! i am a beginner in film photography and i just want to ask if the portra 800 good for night or daylight photography? i’m kinda torn on what film to use and what i should buy 😅 tysm! 💌(i love your channel it really helps a lot 🙂)
love the photos, Teo. :) In a set the compositions might work even better since it'll give the captured situation overall more context... the light leaks are unfortunate, yeah sure, but don't turn me off too much. Portra still delivered some gorgeous colors!!
Ahhh thank you! I'm happy you can see some beauty in the errors🤗 Indeed, as a set this might not even be too bad🤔 And yes, I'm happy with the colours - definitely want to try another roll🙌🏼
4:28 could the light leaks have something to do with the pentaprism maybe? That bit on the left of the image makes me think it might, also the sun is to the right so shooting into the sun might be making it worse.
In last video I've written that I had the same problem and reason for that is in light seals. First of all because the light damages are vertical and orange-red, it is exactly what I had
@@Xisbrezatsgzormd I'm thinking more about the patterns you see on the left, they could be a reflection bouncing back from the pentaprism onto the mirror which then get bounced around the inside of the camera onto the film when the shutter is open.
Good take, I don't know. Also I'm a bit too unfamiliar with the making of these cameras to have an educated guess on your idea. But hopefully someone in a shop here can tell me🤗
Thank you! I should mention though, that this is an experiment, not something that I know is working - a leap of faith haha😅 Glad you're with me on the journey❤️
Happy accidents. However, this is another case of: The main thing making it difficult for a new generation of photographers to get into film is the lack of dependable gear at affordable prices.
Hi Angie, which do you mean, digital or analogue? My main digital camera is a Sony A7iii, which I use to shoot my videos (except the GoPro footage of course)🙌🏼 With film on the other hand I don’t have one camera that does it all for me (yet). I use all sorts of film cameras depending on what I‘m shooting☺️
Oh wow wasn’t expecting a reply lol I was speaking of film. I totally get it, I have a couple in rotation myself lol What camera did your shoot with in this video specifically? I was trying to identify it 😀
@@Grandmastergreyy In this video I was shooting with a Praktica MTL5. Personally I‘m quite a fan of the Pentax K1000, however it misses a self timer, therefore I got this Praktica. But for more fast paced photography I like to use the Olympus XA3☺️

The running shot with the light leaks is STUNNING. The abstraction added by the light leaks are beautiful and ended up framing you perfectly

Absolutely a joyful 20 mins to watch this! Thanks!

how do you prevent the light leeks? I honestly love them but just wondering how they come up ?

Haha good question... something went wrong inside the camera, but I don't know what :,)
@@teocrawford I mean in one photo you get some tree leaves from another photo. Is it because of the camera’s issue?

Hahah not bad!🤗

Why are allcthe shots ruined by leaks.? Is it tne film or badly exposed?
