This video series is 100% the most informative and practical advice on you tube. After all the farting around I've done and had to learn through trial and error, these steps taken will certainly give you success as a new aquarist. Thanks Phil!! Just wish I came across this 3 months ago.

Josh! THank you very much. I try to cut the BS and just lay it all out. What is funny, is on ther other parts I go into a lot more detail about each of aspects (lighting, nutrients, CO2, etc), but when I was finishing up this series I was like "Someone who has been around the block a while is going to want to just see my methods laid out, and doesn't need the fluff", and the conclusion was made ;) This approach, the ASG approach has been from 18 years of wasting time and money through trial and error. I created this method so others could use the approach and become successful right out of the gate. I hope my method serve you well and your plants grow like crazy! Late scaper! ~ Kyle and Phyl

Keep the videos coming Phil! Honestly, I wish this channel was available when I first got into planted tanks - this is gold for a new aquarist

Aaawwwww, thank you James! We are trying. Now that Part 1 is completed, we are going to work on ASG University, which combined all this info into a free online course! Its going to be epic man :) Late scaper!

Wow I really wish I would have had these for my first 6 attempts at planted tanks! I’ve wasted so much time not using co2. Not knowing about EI. Not understanding why my sponge filters weren’t keeping my water clear. Using inert substrates. I’ve probably wasted a couple grand on things that just don’t work.

This is 100% why I started this series. I've wasted more time and money than I'd like to admit, but wanted to help others save time and money. So I'm glad you stumbled across this series :)

If you are keeping root feeding plants qe always suggest an aquasoil. If you're going for an island design with just epiphytes, then an aquasoils wouldn't be needed. Check out our section on providing nutrients here - th-cam.com/video/83ggwJmKXWk/w-d-xo.html
