    I own and commute 60 miles a day on a DCT version. Regularly get 85mpg and the only thing I wish it has is cruise control, otherwise this bike is the consummate commuter. The DCT version means filtering and slow rush hour traffic is a doddle, while the sport mode and manual shift options mean when you want a quick getaway from the lights you can have it.....

    Some interesting comments/comparisons, thanks (though its more of a walkround than a test ride... and you could lose the music: let's hear the bike!)

    So far, 3000 km on mine and never had a problem reading the dash, in any light condition. And the wear problem with the stock Dunlop Trailmax D609 has been solved months ago. I´ve seen many with 10-12K and still in good condition. I read in NC forums pretty much the same in different countries.

    If this bike was Shaft instead of Chain it would be perfect.

      You know that honda made an automatic transmission back in the 70's. I have the 1977 cb750A Hondamatic.
      Do you fight it any when you brake it.

    It's such a nice bike. Love that blue color. Unfortunately we get a metallic gray in the US, it's nice but not like that blue. We also don't get the 750, just the 700, and no LED headlight, maybe not even the 3rd gen of the DCT. The CB500 bikes get all LED headlight but not the US market NC so that's not fair. And since the NC isn't a strong seller here that's why they didn't bother to EPA/CARB certify the 750 engine. Such a disappointment, but I still would like to buy one.

    Interesting, I thought the complaint with the TrailWing tires was they are very hard rubber, they wear long but slippery in wet etc. So some models wore out too quickly? I wonder if they made them with softer rubber for better grip but ended up wearing too quickly? I guess there were different TrailWings, different numbers. My Xadv has 101 front and 501 rear, both tubeless radial tires and they seem quite good, although I haven't ridden them in the wet yet. My CRF1000 Trailwings seemed very hard and slippery, didn't like them. Hopefully Dunlop has sorted out the hardness/wear on the latest models.

    I also think we don't get the updated suspension. We don't have those nice anodized Showa fork caps.

    Great clip, I'm thinking of purchasing one for my wife. We have a VFR750 and R6, but my concern is how the car style engine goes. I'm hoping that not only does it have enough power not to be too gutless and also that it's nice and 'unintimidating' to ride for the commute etc. Does it seem to do both these things well?
    I know it's not a R1 or a 125cc scooter, I'm just trying to figure out if it will suit our needs.
    What do you think?
    Cheers
    Richard

    • @SlimPollack
      @SlimPollack  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Richard Sherwin Hi Richard,
      Thanks for your kind words :-)
      Answering your questions: this engine is definitely different from VFR and R6 and redlines at 6500 rpm. But has plenty of torque available from low revs. I would say it's like comparing car petrol engine (eg. your R6) and diesel engine (NC750X). It takes some time to get used to it and some riders (who changed bikes from bigger ones) complain they easily hit rev limiter. But here is the place where DCT is like godsend. With DCT gear changes are so seamless that you hardly notice them and all electronics will not allow you to redline. I bet I would be first from the lights (with my DCT bike) even with your VFR or R6 - off course up to some point :-)
      For sure this bikes will not be gutless on the road (maybe a bit when riding two up) and is ideal for commuting (returning 70-80 mpg easily). With the false tank you can even go shopping - standard full 5p shopping bag will easily fit there.
      The best idea is to take one for the test ride. If your wife will not be happy with NC750X try CB500X (there is a new 2016 model as well).
      Ride safe.

      +DervMan Thanks, was fed up with all rock music intros on biking channels so I put that strange one :-)
      Re Crosstourer, who knows? Maybe one day? The only thing in CT that puts me off is its weight.

    • @TheDervMan
      @TheDervMan 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SlimPollack fair point. I really fancy a DCT but would like a little more torque than the NC has to offer and the Africa Twin is too off road biased for me, plus I like a shaft drive! Don't want much do I!

    • @SlimPollack
      @SlimPollack  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DervMan Yeah, NC-type bike with a bit more 00mph and shaft drive + DCT option is something I would be tempted too !!!

    Thanks, SlimPollack, for a really good video.

    hi there. Thanks for the video.
    I'm thinking of buying this bike also with DCT. I'm 39 and it will be my first bike ever.
    Since you have the 2014 version can you please give me your opinion? is it a good first bike? And is it worth to buy the new model or better to buy the old model with a 1000€ discount?
    thank you for your feedback.

    • @SlimPollack
      @SlimPollack  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Pedro. NC750X is a very good bike for a new biker. It has very low centre of gravity and handles very well. It is excellent all-rounder. New or old model - hard question to answer... Maybe try take both for a test ride on the same day and then you decide whether is worth paying 1000 euro more for the new one. Personally I wouldn't change my 2014 for new one. The only thing I like in new model are LED lights the remaining are just cosmetic changes in my opinion. But ultimately it's your call...
      Ride safe

      Hi Nizar
      It is a tall bike so you might be on tip of your toes. Bike can be lowered so this might help a little. Another solution might be NC750S which is lower comparing to X version. I would go to the dealer and sit on the bike to see how it is. Hope this helps.

      Witam
      We wrześniu 2016 zrobiłem na NCeku objazdówkę północnej Szkocji (tutaj krótkie wideo: th-cam.com/video/Ay4v4Rg_m88/w-d-xo.html). Ja, żona, komplet kufrów i worek (dry bag) więc trochę motocykl ważył. Zrobiliśmy w sumie 2600km w 8 dni.
      Żona ma ok 172cm i z tego względu narzekań nie było.
      Niestety w takiej trasie z 2 osobami i bagażami ujawniają się 2 wady tego motocykla:
      - słabe i nieregulowane zawieszenie,
      - niska moc silnika.
      Zawieszenie przednie jest w ogóle nie regulowane, a w tylnym da się tylko podkręcić napięcie wstępne amortyzatora. Więc czasami na gorszej nawierzchni tylny amortyzator "dobijał" co odbijało się na komforcie jazdy pasażerki.
      Co do mocy, to 2 osoby i bagaż sprawiały, że trzeba było bardziej uważnie wyprzedzać, gdyż zabierało to trochę więcej czasu (brak komfortowego przyspieszenia).
      Ale tak na prawdę jest to jeden z lepszych motocykli "do wszystkiego" na rynku. Super niskie spalanie, bagażnik w miejscu zbiornika, tania eksploatacja (części itp).

    • @Husar89
      @Husar89 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      dzieki za odpowiedź! a'propos bagażu, czy przy pełnym załadunku motorek nie był mnij stabilny /sterowny? Czytałem parę opinii, w których recenzent wypowiadał się negatywnie własnie o możliwości jazdy z bagażem...
      1.pisali o pogorszeniu właściwości jezdnych
      2.podobno były jakieś problemy z mocowaniem kufrów(co de facto mnie dziwi , ponieważ na autotrader, co 5ty ma kufry....)
      tak więc narazie zasięgam języka ;)
      Pozdrawiam!

    • @SlimPollack
      @SlimPollack  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mój komplet kufrów to oryginały Hondy dedykowane do tego motocykla. Nigdy nie miałem z nimi jakiegokolwiek problemu z mocowaniem. Powiedziałbym, że ich mocowanie jest najlepsze z dostępnych, gdyż nie trzeba montować specjalnych orurowań. Wszystkie 3 kufry zamykają się tym samym kluczykiem od stacyjki. Nigdy nie miałem też problemu ze stabilnością jazdy z tym bagażem (jechałem max. 160 km/h na niemieckich autostradach w drodze do Polski zerknij tutaj: th-cam.com/video/Qlk_OjcMoJc/w-d-xo.html i tutaj th-cam.com/video/KYTclr871WM/w-d-xo.html). Jedyną wadą Hondowskich kufrów jest ich cena...
      Rozumiem, że rozpatrujesz zakup tego motocykla?

    • @Husar89
      @Husar89 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      SlimPollack ogólnie fajne filmiki, tylko czemu te Country na wstępie? Odnośnie pytania, narazie więcej się zastanawiam niż realnie kupuje... Ale coś do miasta i na trasę, a może na drobne ścieżki z opcją brania pasażera ciągle siedzi mi w głowie... Póki co najtańsze są versys 650, nc750 I... Vulcan s... Więc chodzę, patrzę, pytam.. BTW, jakiego jesteś wzrostu? (sam jestem dość wysoki i często utrudnia to jakiś wybór...)

    Why Dunlop tires ??? They are not good?

    • @SlimPollack
      @SlimPollack  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jose. The 2014 NC750X model had Dunlop Trailmax D609 fitted as a factory fit.There were different tyre models fitted at factory as well but most of them here in the UK were D609. They were not so good on the wet but the worst thing was they were wearing very quickly. Some guys here in the UK had them for 1500 - 2000 miles and the thread was under legal limit.
      Therefore Honda UK was changing them for different tyres once you filed a warranty claim. Mine's were changed after 2500 miles.
      Here is the thread on UK's NC Forum about that:
      www.nc700.co.uk/index.php?/topic/6372-the-definitive-750x-dunlop-tyre-thread
      Apparently the 2016 model got Trailmax D610 as far as I remember but as new users are reporting they are not better.
