In Russia, I have to pour a concrete base under the drive for the gate to a depth of 1.5 meters. Severe frosts in winter raise the soil by 10-15 centimeters.
I enjoyed watching. I’m installing a gate opener just like yours on a friends house the edge of the driveway is what I’m using. It’s at least 20 ft long to began with. Very cool 😎
Is the drive control module board covered with a protective varnish in your case? I have varnished my sliding gate drive with a low shrinkage. Insects will shit on the contacts and road dust will also do its job .
Do you have a link to what gate opener you purchased? I have a gate that rolls that I want to do this to,however mines a bit heavier. 2x2 steel frame with two 6x8 board on board privacy panels..
This is not the same seller, But it is the same gate opener. Hope this helps..www.ebay.com/itm/3300lb-Electric-Sliding-Gate-Opener-Operator-Gates-Kit-Automatic-Remote-Control/123089110481?epid=15027565081&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item1ca8aec5d1:g:mWQAAOSw101fgW7p&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACgBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkp2NA0WuhQytmt4dbStg00ONlk9wAD3BqsV%252FHWm275scHuP7WZw6b33wpy%252BNmDJT51bb851eSHv7ETHiIVn2H%252BkkS%252FW1f0t9LbY4m5zZlnQ6ICyGQoforz3uMqNfeF5EJUl5tvGjmQAzEPGL4o4VCEDnSJ8onGxxx1LoypNBepiAnH9W5T5JfkfF5fD4SHIjXBMU6FuIAqch24Be65MzFA1O%252B1AWSPGjzzM2pd%252FxCUt2H3Vm11felHOgOzu7NAC9kz7J0QaQT4YamVPjU4jc04AA2hNJNUvJu%252FotwaUXfzv%252BJTxWTlOtgt3gk82MA7kQDs3wN%252FxUcr3VzhNAUCWqPRhjAdajk3a%252Fxt4fZ%252FObBcfZ%252FeLuePGcYWj262DL0IQg072O5BzlOjjUM2aw86LlX%252B%252B3awlerlL4M8gLZZRUejP7h8jbstsAeHCxWtSMj%252B3FOemLvl2FEONwtuFWXuxxR%252FXj1gBwyGoRWI3UpxcpIBdGtuN19teJskkrvQlQ%252BWOA2nmIGALXEzpOhYvzJjTIDkUVAiSmDjMECqMVrYF6YSEnPjPW0BMnagK7ctaUz%252BOLJTvb8DQgU7x%252BuhIkXzlm8%252FsDOrcAMEsCipluKEVaN4y242cj%252BkLCgqypUa3JLJKBAyQLJvmfYZ8eV0WtoS%252F%252Bm4yxOi0uQWWfFnU3rKrYFPiITku8b1BdnyWI6OqWbPpJVfcMm%252F%252B8L%252F3D3S1IG9ZB9mBZh6Our2NxMpyLxa9aRALYfb1hRvFKk%252B3KSCI1n9%252BGv7fYuggkRcNc5ALC6w1uPeD%252F1GojxpOMFIU6BK1%252Bcs%252BQ%253D%7Ccksum%3A123089110481a3a984e72dab43709d6bd6509d2d346c%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524
Seems to me like you will doing this again soon, the concrete needs to equal the weight of the gate that is hanging over when it’s closed if not the gate will lift the concrete out of the ground just like you had happen before.
So far everything is going great and it's been in the ground over a year..we have had months of 12 inches of rain and dry ground with cracks as big as 1"..I guess with all of the rebar enforcement that I welded in bottom..it really holds it in place..appreciate the comment..thank you
Thank you Larry! The part about the magnetic sensors really helped alot!! Much appreciated!!!
