We had the same issue in the 90s, this is a prime example of why Calgarians dislike transit; they refuse to adapt to meet the needs of customers. Perhaps when the child of someone who has some clout gets passed by in February they will take some action.
Its every bus routes and trains all across Calgary. As population continues to grow, services are having a hard time keeping up with the demand. And lack of drivers. I've always said, those billions that were financed towards the greenline, maybe they should have used that money to improve what we already have. Maybe city transit call up first student bus and southland and come up with an agreement to help with the school rush
Last year most people were working online or remotely. This year many employers require more in person days or fully in person along with university classes going away from online, of course bus services will be used more often. The question is why they didn't plan for this? Hire more drivers and make more jobs if the city is growing and demand is there.
I have talked with Taxi drivers who were once bus drivers. It's a thankless job tbh. The union and city administration are not putting Calgarians first. The seniority based system is hurting new drivers. Also the bus drivers have to put up with drug addicts and aggressive people all the time, especially after COVID. Nobody wants to put their life in danger. It is not as simple as "let's get more buses and drivers". From municipal to federal levels, multiple levels of incompetence need to be corrected.
@@UnbreakableM1nd Thanks! Those are very good points. Sadly, most politicians will use a scapegoat (in AB often immigration) for their poor decisions. A growing city could be an opportunity for economic development or disaster in making if not planned appropriately. But, it is always easier to get a pension and blame everything on others.
Let's not forget population growth is a major factor as well, even before C-VID in 2015 for example, when workers were working in the office, it wasn't as bad as it is today
@@Valcon41 but one would hope in 10 years the city has gotten some growth. I remember during COVID and shortly afterwards, my social media feeds were all ads sponsored by government of AB or city of Calgary to move there (to pay taxes and make their numbers look healthy). However, they never invested back into the city. I hope Albertans don't blame everything on others but their own politicians.
Calgary needs more bendy buses and a more frequent service. I always hated how bendy buses are no longer common on the route 301 like it was 5-10 years ago.
We pay enough in taxes, young Calgarians deserve much better service than this. Commutes should be at least sort of comfortable. It’s ridiculous in such an affluent, high tax paying city.
This city is not investing money for public transportation. There’s only one bus in every 20minutes in our area, most of the time the bus is full and the driver won’t stop at many bus stops and ask people to take the next bus.
Probably at least a quarter of these teens who are complaining sneak onto the bus without paying fare. Perhaps if they paid their share, the city could provide better service.

Soon they'll be riding on the bus roof like they do back home.
I made the same joke here in Halifax and got in trouble for it. BTW I am a city bus driver who is of Indian descent.
I hate riding the bus when the teens get on after school.
trust me, not all "teens" enjoy their presence either... doesn't justify poor bus service though
@ArrrrrrPeeee Even young girls are calling each other 'bro' these days-lol.

Maybe the new ice hockey stadium could wait, and they should improve the public transit first

Don't worry, turdeau has an expensive dental program to cover cleanings for a few elderly people. Hope that helps.

Of course we do, but not for high schoolers.

Tell them to ride the TTC if you want to see overcrowding
Someone must tell you that TTC has much better frequency and route coverage
We get it bro you're from Toronto
Ttc isnt that bad
I've visited Toronto and I think TTC is better than Calgary Transit.
