I’m 82. Pleated skirts were what I wore, including the box pleated one you showed. We couldn’t afford to buy Pendleton skirts, so Mom bought the Pendleton fabric and made one. She also made “Lanz” dresses.
omg that is so lovely i would love to meet you and just hear you talk about all the fashion you've experienced in your lifetime... what would you say has been your favourite fashion era and why? 💗💗
@@abimon76 Hi. I think I liked the 50s dresses the most, because they were so pretty. Of course, in the winter, I wore skirts and sweaters. The 60s had some cute clothes; that was the Jackie Kennedy influence for suits and dresses were “sheaths,” close fitting. Hemlines went up, a lot. I was working by then. I had some “cocktail” dresses. I wore heels all the time, and the day after our wedding, I had to buy tennis shoes at Piggly Wiggly (grocery store in Seattle area).
I have fallen down the Kibbe style rabbit hole and am trying to really hone in on what clothes look good on my body type. It’s not going well at the moment. I don’t know what’s what anymore. 😂
I agree about the boat shoe/ballet flats connection. I feel like they're the same shoe to me, just the masculine/feminine version of the same shoe. Which is weird because they aren't the same shoe. Like they don't look the same. But they're the same to me.
Ooh yes I love all of this! I am also obsessed with wearing lacey white blouses right now with puff sleeves or big collars. And I have amassed quite a collection of pleated skirts bc I am wearing those a lot too! For Summer I'm looking for cotton or rayon pleated skirts as opposed to the wool ones that are too hot for Summer.
Zara has a pair of lace up black boots you might be able to find it second hand, timberland has a pair and so does Dr martens, I got rid of my arden B ones and truly regret

Loving boat shoes. And I have found them so reasonably on Ebay. Even got a greyish/white pair!!!
what are some good brands for them? I don't mind if they are trendy or not but I love the ones of the girls she showed wearing them
@washingtonskies8698 My fave is Eastland but the following are also good: LL Bean, Sperry, Dexter, Bass, Land's End.
I enjoyed the inspiration. I to am looking for colorful jewelry. I like the footwear for spring but I having jacket problems lol.
So many inspo 😍
Anyone else here late 40s and realize all of this is from our school days?!😂😂
hahahahah i love it!!!
Ha yes. I’m 50 and the boat shoes unlocked a memory of teenage boys slouching around in them, where the backs had been trodden down.
such good ideas
