I am about to lease to any company maybe landstar
7 years by my own authority but no more.

I’m really curious why you think the business didn’t work. I’d considered starting my own authority, so I wonder what you think went wrong. Or maybe you found that running your own authority can’t work out in the current economic climate? Was it difficult to lease-on drivers to your authority? How do you think the business failed? Did you not charge enough of a percentage from the drivers you did lease-on? Could you not find people to lease-on?
I had been thinking of going down the road you were on, and I’m really curious why you think the business didn’t work.

Man.... don't even think you failed. Running a trucking business is not easy, nor is starting one from scratch. Getting a license, buying a truck and getting your MC....you dove right in the deep end. The odds were stacked against you right from jump. Then with all the pandemic, rate drop, fuel through the roof...it's like a perfect storm death by a thousand cuts. Yet you hung in there, SAVED some $, and learned a lot, and had enough foresight to get out when YOU chose to. I'd call that a win. If you decide to get back in, you have 2 yrs of experience you can't buy. There's a lot of exposure owning a truck, and a lot of things you can't control that will affect you. It's like farming, you gotta love it to do it, because it sure ain't easy😁. Hang in there!

No offense but your video about how you started a trucking company popped up on my feed and I saw that it was 2 years old and I already knew you weren't out of business. Then I looked at your channel and saw this. Everyone saw those tic tock and TH-cam reels where everyone was "killing it" and it become a frenzy of people with no trucking or business experience jumping in. I've ran into so many people like that and you it's not funny. And I see all kinds of TH-cam channels just like yours. So don't feel bad live and learn.

I listen to you and you got a hold of some bad information, you listened to a lot of halfway bosses listen for anybody that’s reading this comment in the world of business always consult with somebody that’s been in the business 20 years or more not just other owner operators the reason why I say 20 years and more because those old owners gonna tell you the history of the business three years worth of information isn’t nothing no value. You went from being in complete control of your life now you want to work for someone else Hell No!! You didn’t try you looked at the cost of business and quit that’s sad you sound scared full of excuses excuses TH-cam university doesn’t count.. you are a business owner sit down with your wife/ and work together to establish your business together you can’t be home right now you have to grind like no other so later you can live like no other you quit before you struck gold

I def agree with your overall message but at the end of the day we all have different lives and situations going on maybe he couldn’t be away from home that long who knows. But I do get the main thing your saying is the rough times and even nasty times if he woulda grinded it out maybe it would have worked out or maybe not who knows

Hey man,I went through the same thing,I revoked my authority late last year, sold my truck because the mileage had become too high and kept my trailer, believe me,many owner operators have done the same so it’s not your fault at all,COVID & Ukraine war messed up the economy and trucking is very sensitive to the economy,we will be back when things get back to normal, keep your head up brother.

If you or anyone would ask me for my opinion, I would tell you no matter what business or industry you go into, crunch your number from day 1. Listen to the numbers 100% wholly. 2. Don't allow your emotions to drive any decisions. 3. Crunch the numbers frequently, this is where you can make a decision to shut down and liquidate the business before you lose to much money 4. Don't listen to people, only listen to the number, NUMBERS DON'T LIE!!!!! 5. It's ok to call it a failure. It's easier to understand and rebound if you understand failure. To me trucking was and is mostly hype, my emotions was 50% of the reason why I wanted to go into trucking but once I keep applying the numbers, the numbers kept telling me NO!!!! Once I put the notion of trucking to the side I had so much brain cell to focus on better and more profitable, less stressful ways to make money, and I'm always home in my own bed. Trucking for the small guy is a flawed concept especially with the deadhead mileage the concept of reliant upon BROKERS....I deactivated my DOT # in January, which was the best thing I could ever done. I was half the way through the authority process and I saw freight prices looking crappy and trucks and trailers 15-20% more expensive and diesel fuel high, and again those are some of the numbers I was watching. At that time I was looking to buy my truck, and Insurance went from $17,000 a year to $24,000, I said to myself at the time, "I had to be a glutton for stupidity" to spend $60,000 for trucking my first year. I feel really great to still have my $60,000 plus my 830 credit score. And even though I don't make the potential money we "THINK" we can make in trucking, I still earn $12-13,000 a month working and average of 7 hours a day. My man, you're at the beginning of something much better than trucking!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!
