So, Mary, you just proved that it is about 80% player and 20% instrument. While not quite the same reception as The Beatles enjoyed when they landed in New York, you are going to be recognized in the States. You are the bomb! Great to see you signing with Rick and Rhett. Enjoy your holiday.
We’ll played! That B-roll to live was done incredibly well, I rewound and listened to the transition 3 different times. Can’t imagine how long it took you to plan that out, absolutely brilliant! You are an amazing guitarist
I bet some of the other customers in there were LOVING the mini-concert they were getting :) I live close to SweetWater Sound, in Indiana and I love it when someone is really testing out and playing guitars. It's so fantastic to meet other musicians, especially ones who are outstanding players. I've made some amazing Aquaintences just by sitting and admiring :)
How profoundly gifted you are. And staggeringly beautiful. Listening to you speak is every bit as satisfying as listening to you play. Utterly enchanting. Love ya!
D’Angelico make great guitars, I had one of their travel guitars over lockdown and it was super fun to pick up and jam away on. Funnily enough I also gave it away!
I’ve had a jumbo acoustic LAG guitar for 12 years now and I have to say that I rarely find any other that sounds better to me. Seeing you play one was cool
Welcome! We have a granddaughter at school in NYC - music production and theater- you could leave the guitar with her! She has a beautiful singing voice.
Welcome to the Big Apple. You make every guitar sound like a million dollars. Glad you got a chance to "chill" after the shopping! The best. Also thanks for the stuff you did with Beato and Shull. Great all around.
Cool, I visited a music store over the weekend and bought a Ukulele...it's awesome! And since I have a long background in guitar, it was very easy to pick up on! I'm very much into it...I never thought I'd buy a Uke, lol! Thanks for the upload, Mary!💜
Mary, thank you for another great video and in NYC, cool! I do not shop at Guitar Center because of their business practices of buying out and taking over the independent shops and the small shops. But, thanks so much for recognizing the independent shops in the beginning, spot on!
Mary, love watching your journeys and listening to you play. Your dedication to fingerstyle is evident in your ever-increasing mastery of the style. I love that ending electric guitar tone at the end of this video. Can you share the guitar, pedals and amp combination you used? It's so sumptuously rich and warm.
Your just incredibly relaxing and enjoyable to journey with in this format Mary. You just got....something really intangible, quite difficult to pin down about your cadence in life on your vids.
The 14th street GC been there for almost 20 years! Bought many great instruments there 😀 Sad to hear that the Broadway got closed though, the staff there was really great and good that they re-allocated some of them
I have that exact same guitar! It’s my acoustic daily driver. It’s a big boy and I feel like I’m hugging a suitcase sometimes, but it sounds great and is easy to play. Good choice Mary!
Cool video. As an intermediate guitarist its was great to see some advanced strumming combined with interesting chord fingerings combined with some barre chords and variations. I can barely do some of the patterns, but it is good to look forward to what I need to learn next.
GRATS on half a million subscribers. I remember first episode of Tuesday Talks when you had around 10k subscribers around 4 years ago, I think it was, what a growth in those years.. you gotta aim for 1m subs !
Love this! I stopped in a GC last Wed...been a couple years since I visited one. Was actually looking for banjo, but none, so played a few nice classical guitars and started off playing "Long Island City" (my fav) and some Tom Petty songs. Glad you're in the U.S. again!
Welcome (back) to NY, Mary... We're practically neighbors now - I'm north of Manhattan, about 100 miles up the Hudson River... Have fun with the new guitar !

The first time you played that D'angelico, I was.. This is it. 👌🏻 Pretty good for the price. The headstock design also for D'angelico is unique. Haven't seen their guitars much here in Ireland though 😔
Lived in NYC for a few years, moved back upstate a couple years ago at the beginning of the pandemic to work in medical devices. funny seeing you at some of my old stomping grounds. 14th street GC has been there awhile, they shut down times square in the beginning of 2020. Hope you enjoy your stay...there are some incredible stores upstate if you ever venture further north!
I have been mistaken for someone else on several occasion, and for some reason I was actually hoping this was a case of mistaken identity as well. Mary would realize he is mistaken, then keep trolling him until he remembers who she really is.
Wish I lived in New York! It would be really cool to see you believe me you are recognized more places than just New York in the United States it's cool that you're leaving the guitar there I hope someone really appreciates it as much as we appreciate you!
I am surprised to see that many guitars. The GCs around here looked like ghost towns last time I was there and the few they had were overpriced. Maybe things are getting better.
It's a pretty good store, actually. Have always seen some fun stuff on their wall. Wished I could have bought the '64 Esquire I played there once. Was amused to see one of the custom shop GoT guitars on the wall, but also a bunch of Fenders, Squiers and Epiphones we tried while helping someone get a first guitar. Amused to see Mary there where I would have been very amused to see Mary, er, or something like that.

I love trips to the music shop like that except I don't get recognized by anyone unless one of my friends are there. All kidding aside it looks like you had fun and that's what matters.
Hi, Mary. Thanks for the video and the beautiful playing. That Guitar Center is actually the music shop I go to most often. I’m a British expat who teaches in a high-needs school in Brooklyn. If you haven’t decided what you’ll do with the guitar, I’d love to throw my hat in. I give free guitar lessons to students and could do with another one! I hope you have a wonderful trip :)
There's something special about spending time in a music store. I just spent the past two days at Thomann in Germany. Picked up a nice single-cut electric. The whole place just reeks of tonal-wood and creativity. 👍👍👍😏😏😏
I love that GC in NY, I always go there when I’m visiting and I recently bought one of my guitars there too. I understand how the guy at the entrance felt bc I also probably would have fangirled had I walked in there and seen you just chilling and playing guitar hahah. I hope you’re having a nice trip!

Mary Spender in NYC! I like the sound of that! Even though I will probably never meet you, it's nice to know you are in NYC! Have fun, and don't forget to pick up that guitar when you are done!
Hey, Mary-Nice bit of singing on Rick’s channel; it took me totally by surprise. One second you’re walking into a NY guitar store and the next you’re near Atlanta with all our favorite music theory teacher! 👍
I've not seen ALL of your vids, but have seen quite a few and I'm not sure how much I've seen you play acoustic. Really enjoyed hearing your playing style on an acoustic, it really works well on an acoustic.
Well you walked into " my" Guitar Center store today Mary . I live only 7 blocks away. If I'd been there today I would have recognized you. I'm glad you love NYC and I hope you plan to visit Adam Neeley while you're here

Dude she got recognised with a mask on ..... I'd call that a win
I think it's closer to 99% / 1%. A guitar, no matter how beautiful and/or expensive, sitting on a stand isn't going to make a sound.
So delightful.
My 9 year old refers to Mary as the Princess of the Guitar as we view her videos in our den.
High praise, indeed.
Kind of sweet that you are surprised to be recognized in a guitar shop. 😇

NICE singing on Rick Beato's 2 chord video. That rendering of Dreams was terrific.
Can tell right off you feel right at home with the D'angelica. Sounds gorgeous in your hands. Love the Mayer-sounding licks.
