I’ve watched this video more then 10 times this year because how obsessed I was with this exact honda . Finally got it a week ago exact color an everything I love it !!
I appreciate the fact that you are reviewing a typical trim level that average Joe looks at. Too many journalists go straight to the top of the line and forget that most of us are on a budget and that this is the only car they have. I've noticed in general that Honda and even Acura's tend to have more NVH.
For everyone knocking the sport for being nonturbo remember all turbos even Honda ones will go out and are extremely expensive to replace. Not to mention you are putting vastly more pressure on a little 4 cylinder engine. I'll happily sacrifice power for an engine that will last longer.
Several automakers, including Honda, use the "Sport" trim designation to disguise the fact that it lacks a significant number of features found in higher trims. In reality the $1600 MSRP difference between the "Sport" and the higher priced "EX" version buys a number of significant upgrades, the most critical of which is the more powerful 180 HP turbo engine. Along with that comes a power moonroof, blind spot monitoring, and more extensive driver assistance and safety features. The Sport's "advantages? 18" rather than 17" wheels and paddle shifters, a feature about as useful on a CVT equipped vehicle as they would be on a poodle. The new Civic is an impressive vehicle but the "Sport" trim is hardly the "value" leader. That designation arguably belongs to the EX trim.
@@stephenhendricks103 Better value is subjective. Each of the four trim levels are specifically configured for a different targeted demographic consumer. The Sport to me is the better value if you are old enough to understand the concept decades ago, when there were entry level performance cars with the sporty aesthetics, tires and suspension, and performance without the frills. The EX is the value for those that want all those features, but not so performance enthusiast minded. The Sport is perfect for me, I prefer the functionality over a sunroof, power seats, etc, but if I am able to, I would have no qualms splurging on a Touring or Sport Touring Hatchback to get the best of both worlds, especially the leather seats, Bose Stereo, wireless charging & Apple Carplay/Android Auto, etc. I still would prefer the N/A 2.0L engine with 20 less HP for the reliability and longevity. To each their own. At least we have option, not like if you only had one choice, like in China, where practically all the bicycles are identical.
Not having a Blind Spot monitoring when you have other safety features just doesn't make sense to me as that has to be the most useful and important safety feature. I think when it comes to value Hyundai Elantra is a much better option.
Agreed, but it's a much more substantial and better driving vehicle. The overall package of the Civic/Accord is better than the Sonata/Elantra, but if you want the most tech for the $, the Hyundai is the way to go.
@@smokesgtp I drove the two back to back. Liked the Civic much more. I do feel the Elantra gives a lot more for the money, but I plan to get the Civic. I also feel the civic looks a lot better, but that is subjective.
After driving my ‘02 Civic LX for 18 years, I really needed a new(er) car. I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January 2023. Definitely a lot fancier than my last Civic! I love the understated exterior and semi-luxury interior. Mine is meteorite metallic gray with a two tone black/gray interior. (Well, Honda calls them gray but the seats look ivory to me.) It’s a beautiful car and I’m thrilled with it.
I’m from Mexico and watched this video for reference (btw, great coverage, congrats!) and i’m amazed that in Mexico the sport trim has more equipment than the sport in the US, like a sunroof, the 9” display, rear central armrest, dual-zone ac, 60/40 folding, and fog lights, but it misses on the honda sensing
The reason I went with the EX instead of the sport for this generation is because the lack of a moonroof and blind spot indicators is kinda ridiculous 😅

But there are a few key features that I would want before I plop down or finance $25k -$29k for one of these compact cars (more like midsize by EPA standards). But Honda is smart and maybe they know these will sell like hot cakes as they are equipped currently in their respective trim levels. Who am I to suggest otherwise. And that is good for them. They will survive without my money.
@@2004cyrus I get that. they'll probably want to spend money on features people want like LED headlights and apple carplay/android auto and save money where they can. I believe Toyota does the same thing with the Corolla in terms of the upper door materials. But Mazda doesn't seem to do the same. Then again, like you were saying, Honda knows what they're doing and they'll definitely sell a lot of these Civics.
@@kevinabraham2029 oh yea you nailed it. I don’t pretend to know all their moves I’m just speculating. But they are successful companies for a reason. I know that I’m a particular person with high expectations. I talk to friends and family that could care less about a lot of things that I insist on or expect. They could care less about soft touch this n that and soft closing and felt lined this n that. I have to remind myself that different people prioritize different things. And for non car people who will be the Civics main demographic, they’ll believe Honda knocked this new generation out of the park. And that’s okay. It’s not a bad choice at all.
I like the car but definitely should have the turbo for the sport. And yes blind spot w Bose system, I would be willing to pay a little more since this is most likely the younger buyers. That said I’m waiting for the hatchback in touring trim .
The Sport 2.0L N/A engine is more reliable and durable than the 1.5L Turbo albeit 20 less HP. I also wish the Sport had the Bose sound system, wireless charging & Apple Carplay and Android Auto, because I would rather have this engine, and save money, unless I could afford the Touring with all the goodies. I wish they offer the LED foglights as an OEM Dealer installed accessories kit, if they don't plan to have it already. I passed by my local Honda dealership this morning, and they had an Aegean Blue Metallic Touring sedan. If I had the money now, I would have bought it today. But I would really like the Hatchback, too, for the cargo utility, though both body styles look great in Sport and Touring. *Sport Touring on the Hatchback. The latter has the Sport pedals like the Sport trim, and the Hatchbacks may have a slightly more performance oriented suspension, but the sedan Sport/Touring is fine. I am sure you can upgrade the shocks and springs if you have the sedan. The Bose system should be awesome, but at least the stereo in this one is pretty nice. Even another reviewer mentioned the stereo on the Sport is pretty decent. Again, you can also upgrade the speakers, amps, subwoofer, though not specifically engineered for this car. I would probably go with Rockford Fosgate, JBL or Sony ES Mobile. It's a cost and production streamlining issue that each trim comes pretty much configured one way, with everything else OEM dealer installed accessories you can get later, or at time of purchase to keep costs down. The Sport lost the foglights, leatherette door and center counsole armrests, along with the split 60/40 rear folding seat to keep the cost the same as the previous generation Sport Sedan with the new upgrades, and that's fine with me. I just wish the foglights were available as a kit to get later, especially now that it is LED. People always say cars should have more power, but both engines are fine for the respective trims for the majority of those that would get this. If you want performance and intend to tune and tweak your car, wait for the Si. If I had my way, Honda should offer the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine from the Accord Sport and Touring as an option/special order to really make it something in it's category, as the Si is the more common and affordable enthusiast option, that is more comfortable, and practical as an everyday driver compared to the Type R, which is more for diehard tunets, racers, collectors with more resources at their disposal.
@@cahg3871 I believe that the newer ones took care of the oil dilution, and they have new formulated oil viscosities to minimize that problem. I plan to get the Sport, but if I can, I will get the Sport/Sport Touring Hatchback. IMHO, the Touring Sedan and Sport Touring Hatchback should have the 1.5L 200 HP engine from the last Si, and the upcoming Si should have the detuned Type R 2.0L engine with 270 HP from the Accord Sport/Touring.

For example our SPORT, has heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, USB ports in the back seats, dual zone climate, arm rest in the back, and pocket on the seat!! You guys got screwed lol
Even with less horsepower, I would rather have the reliability of the N/A engine for the Sport. The Touring gets the turbo engine because it's expected to have more power for the extra price with all the bells and whistles. But yes, I can do without the other tech from the Touring, but I wish it did have the Bose system, wireless charging/Apple Carplay/Android Auto, 2 USB in front and back. But the infotainment deck is sufficient. You can upgrade the speakers, amps, and add subwoofers of your choice. They just won't be precision designed, tuned and calibrated for the specific acoustics of the vehicle like the Bose and other premium sound systems in other vehicles, like the Acuras, Lexus, Toyotas, and others. Long ago, at least the American car manufacturers would have cars wirh a whole choice of options. They used to have fully loaded performance models, but usually had a more affordable version with the performance engine, transmission and tires with a lower trim interior, different wheels, and not as fancy exterior body trim. Or it was more common or easy to special order colors and options. But, with today's more efficiency in production, to keep costs down almost all brands and models come a certain way with specific equipment, with most of the options available as OEM dealer installed accessories. That's just the way it is, and it makes sense to me. Unless I can spring for the Touring Sedan, or Sport Touring Hatchback, I would be happy with the Sport Sedan/Hatchback. I just wish that the Sport still had the foglights, which may be available later as a dealer installed accessory kit when inventory supply is makes the available. They already may be available for back order. Also, the leatherette door and center console armrests were replace with the cloth ones, like the LX, that also were in the Si. I can live with the one piece rear seatback folding down, instead of the 60/40 one, but wish that you could lower them from the passenger compartment, instead of just just from the trunk. Unsure if you can do that on the hatchbacks. IMHO, the Sport Touring Hatchback should have had the engine, gearbox and LSD from the last Si for the manual version. And they should make the Si essentially with Sport trim to keep costs down, but add the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine from the Accord Sport/Touring, and Si specific seats, trim, badging, suspension/brakes and body add ons.
Honda has done moonroof and fogs on EX trims forever. At least for the past 30+ years. I like the fact that they are trying to keep cost down for the sport
@@smokesgtp dual zone climate control should definitely be there and so should blind spot monitoring. The 10th gen had fog lights standard on every trim with the exception of the lx. Honda should offer a premium package for around $1500 that would give us a moonroof option with the bose audio. I say that because the competition offers options like that. I wish Honda would indulge in packages the same way Hyundai and Toyota does.
@@dannynguyen5608 Cmon, it’s the standard price for these kind of sedans, it has the same price than cars like Corolla, Elantra, sonata, Kia Forte, Mazda 3 and being very similar vehicles… Honda vehicles are very good, same with toyota they both are better than the others.
@@dannynguyen5608I live in Florida and here the price for the civic sport is about 25k not incluiding tax and dealer fees, it’s a reasonable price for this car but for 30k or more without tax it’s not worth it.
My brother had the exact same car but when he was leaving work he got in a car crash and only one airbag deployed.. the steering wheel airbag no other airbag but he came out safe just a broken knee cap it’s not severe but I’m so proud of Honda I recommend this car
I’m confused as of why the US Sport trim lack of equipment compared to the Canadian Sport one. Canadian Sport trim is basically a US EX trim + mags and black accent.
Those features have led to a generation of idiots that can't drive. If the car doesn't tell them there's a car in their blind spot they just pull over, heaven forbid you turn your head and LOOK.
@@nodak81 So right. It's nice to have, but better to have the driving skills, training, and years/miles of experience. I learned all and acquired all that ages ago in the old school tactical driving with Honolulu PD. Stab and steer braking and all that, decades before ABS, airbags traction/stability control, Honda Sense and the other equivalent safety features. The cars we trained in were old big Chevies like the originsl Five-OH series with the big blue bubblegum machine light and siren/PA speaker, and were light stock car racing machines. Way different than today's rides...
@@nodak81 actually just adjust your mirrors correctly, your outboard door mirrors canted well out so your blind spots are nearly eliminated (Click and Clack describe its adjusting). I know for a fact nearly every driver out there has them adjusted for parking (canted in) as opposed to driving, where the views are critical.

Honda needs to start adding a sunroof and fog lights on their sport models... and at least blind spot monitoring and dual climate control.. Especially if the sport model grabs customers attention
The point of the Sport is to have a fun daily to drive. Not a super luxurious one. And while I do agree that it seems a bit petty to not include BSM, The Sport trim is most likely just a cheap fun new car that's excellent as a daily.
I still have my 2000 model Honda Civic. It runs and drives perfectly. This vehicle has heart. I will never sell it, much to my wife's disgust, she has her Mercedes. Pfffft be gone woman! Solidarity brothers! I want to be buried in this car.
In Canada the civic sport is one of the higher trims(LX, EX, Sport, Sport Touring) and comes with a moonroof and fog lights. Not sure why it’s so different in the USA. All civics also have Blind Spot Monitoring.

I love this Civic Sport! Got mine a week ago and I just love driving it. It is so comfortable and quick and safe! Still haven't seen another one on the street yet but there are going to be a lot of these on the roads! I
I figure it was to keep the price rge same as the previous generation Sport Sedan with the new refinements. I am not going to argue much if they offer a dealer installed LED foglight kit as an OEM accessory I can get later. The same basuc equipment configuration is a carryover, except the two other things I noticed gone: The leatherette door and center console armrests, that the Si didn't have, either, and the rrar folding seats is one piece, not 60/40 like the previous one. No biggie for me since I usually fold both down when I do, anyway.
Within the first month of ownership the entire engine cover came off on the freeway. Then another piece came off 1 month later. Both fixed at dealership on separate occasions. The air flow lighting has never worked or lit up. I thought that was just the way it was. I was wrong. Taking that to get fixed. Dashboard makes cracking noises when going over bumps. Electric seats make creaking noises when moving. Audio cuts in and out constantly and navigation screen gets blurry and freezes. Averaging 27mpg constantly no matter how I drive. I just don’t understand what’s going on. I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 400,000 miles. I’ve never had issues with that car like this 2022 touring. Want records?? I have it.
Can’t go wrong with any civic model, even if after a couple years you crave more features.. you’ll easily be able to trade in and get a higher model due to the phenomenal resale value. I sell Hondas and always recommend picking up the highest trim you can afford from the start. Goes with any vehicle purchase if your in the air between trim levels.
I still think this 2022 Civic is a good car. However, I will say this. The 2022 is worth it if you have a 2015 or older civic. I have a 2020 Civic and if you have a 2016-2021 Civic, this new one feels more like a refresh than a redesign. Still, this and the Mazda 3 are my favorite choices and you can't really go wrong with either car.
The one thing that I don’t like about it that I think is kind of ridiculous is that they add the paddle shifters and drive mode to the sport, but you lose the turbo engine I feel like it should be opposite have the sport trim model with the turbo and drive mode and the EX with just the paddle shifters
Why did Honda delete the temp gauge from the lower trim models. I know, to save money and cheapen the instrument panel. So now you have hope the idiot light will come on in time down the line if the engine overheats. Bad design on Honda’s part. Hopefully for the 2023 model the temp gauge will be installed on all trims as it should be.

The lane assist is ok but the wheel will shake if u go out of yr lane to alert u which is a good function but it’s scary sometimes when u don’t expect it. But u can turn that feature off. I’m small so is spacious for me. My husband is 6’1 about 215 pds & he said he fits comfortable in the front but everyone is different. We went w the new car because we originally looked at a 2018 Nissan Rogue & they wanted $600/mo. He said for that we can buy a new car so we did. it’s so quiet sometimes I Check to make sure its on after I remote start it. Gotten a lot of compliments on it. Rides real nice. Really the car is great though.
I think I'd go for the LX cuz the EX is too expensive and I don't wanna spend over a thousand dollars just for smart entry and some other features that aren't worth it.
I just got this car today . For some reason, the turning wheel feels okay when turning, but when in a straight line, it gives you a jerk feeling, why come?
For the money I'll go with the sport,not to mention bigger engine and less stress. Even though has les horsepower. But that along will make the sport with the 2.0 litre last longer ,than the 1.5 turbo.
"Sport" used to indicate a quite high speced car, on this it strucks me how much this is a base car with a few "expensive but not really necissary options" Rather than keyless entry and a semi digital rev counter, I would have loved to had heated mirrors, luminated make-up mirrors or a 60/40 split rear seat...
*The Sport/Touring have the Sport suspension, and yes, that, and the engines are a carryover, which is a good thing. But there are refinements to this new version. Almost all reviewers have stated tge hsndling characteristics of both versions are great, but the new one is different, more refined, while the previous one has a more racy feedback. Though sporty, keep in mi ds these are the mainstream consumer models, not the performance oriented Si and Tyoe R, and the Hatchback, at least on Sport and Sport Touring trim are believed to have a slightly more performance oriented suspension tuning to go withbthe more aggressuve front fascia and smoke tint headlights and foglights.
@@jjacob25101 Nope you are wrong. Sport does not come with a sport suspension. I work for Honda Only thing that’s different is the Sport trim is the only trim that comes with paddle shifters. Again the sport trim is just aesthetics.
Can't understand why Honda went out of their way to make the cheap looking half LCD/half anaolog gauge cluster. Surely it's cheaper to just include the full LCD?
I went with the sport trim, partially because it was the highest trim in my budget, but also because it gets just a couple quality of life improvements over the LX still, like the smart entry, better speaker system, and the 3 drive modes. The paddle shifters are definitely fairly useless 90% of the time, especially considering you can basically switch driving modes to achieve the same thing, but having certain styling features is nice. Last car I had was 2007 CR-V and based on how much I didnt use the sunroof or heated seats, I figured I wouldn't miss them. I will say I did test drive the Touring also, and one thing that happened while driving and using wireless apple car play and wireless charigng is my phone notified me that its tempature was too high, so thats something to keep in mind for some particularly hot areas. I think the only things I really missed from the touring model were blindspot monitoring and maybe the bose sound system, but sound systems can always be upgraded aftermarket

As long as it has the 2.0 Lt.motor.Those 1.5 Lt. Turbo motors suffer from oil dissolution issues.The turbo pushes fuel into the cylinders and with too much force which pushes that fuel past the piston head into the oil reservoir.There is no way to fix that issue irregardless of what Honda says.Check out Scotty Kilmer’s TH-cam channel for further information on this issue.
I bought the crv in 2018 and when I realized the oil dilution problem Honda did not want to address it , and the dealer tried to play it off. When I would change the oil you could clearly smell gas in it. Still to this day the gas is in the oil slowly wearing down my motor. Later Honda notified me of an extended warranty of one year more only on certain parts like the turbo, and the heating element in the heater. This is why I will only buy the sport model with the 2.0 motor. There turbo motors are the worst and dont make the same mistake that I made.
Here's where Honda cut corners. No fog lights, hard plastic on upper door panels, no power drivers seat, no map pockets behind front seats, no rear center armrest, no rear connection for USB or power, and no engine temp gauge in the instrument cluster. Pretty lame for a $24K car.
Not even a temp gauge, map pockets, or rear cupholders? My old 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier had all those features, and it was a freaking base model with no air condition or power windows. I am keeping my 2020 Civic EX. The 11th gen civic also come with standard start stop, so if you dislike that feature, then pickup the 2021 Civics while you still can.
@@StealthyAviator exactly. I’ve had 2 of those. The current model looks funky so I got a 21’ Mazda CX-5. I hurt my back in a car accident in June. I prefer a car like the new Acura TLX. Until I get my spine fixed it’s easier to get in & out of a crossover. So I leased this for 3 years. Maybe when I get healed I can get a Genesis sedan or Acura. I’ll have a larger budget by then too. But the current Accord does drive nice. I don’t like CVT’s anyway so this Mazda with Turbo is fine for 3 years. However I want 4 way lumbar and this Mazda only has 2-way. Oh well. Sorry you don’t care about all of this sh*t I’m spewing. My bad bro. Take care.
I love my 2020 civic sport sedan and actually like the interior better than the 11th gen but I like the 11th gen exterior a little more than mine. I do wish mine had heated mirrors and I was surprised the intermittent wipers aren't adjustable(my dad's 1995 ford escort has adjustable intermittent). I also could use heated seats since mine is a manual and does not have remote start. And while I don't usually haul people around it would be nice to have dual climate control. And to be honest it would be nice to have the blind spot camera with the use of the turn signal. But I can't complain too much except for the wipers and mirrors
I have a 2022 A4s and was wondering if I should have just gotten this car But I love my Audi, no road noise, turns are perfect, super fast! It just feels great to be in and looks luxurious and sporty Hondas are cheaper, maintenance are nothing compared to Audi Why do I have to want nice things lol As long as I can afford it, I guess but idk if it’s all worth it in the end of the day
The 2022 Civic CVT is tweaked and tuned to have more realistic shift simulation under more acceleration, and Honda and Toyota make the best CVTs out there. The 6 Speed is available on the upcoming Sport/Sport Touring Hatchback and the Si, along with the Type R.
Keep in mind, the fact is, the entry level cars with the smaller, economical engines are going to have CVTs for the automatic versions because of lower production costs, and mostly to get required, or competitive fuel economy numbers. Also, so many self proclaimed performance drivers alway chime in like this or that car should have a supercharger, or turbo, like the Toyota Camry TRD. What people don't realize, car manufacturers are not primarily there to make performance cars. They do offer them, but there are also specialized tuner companies that modify them, or aftermarket industry for DIY modifications if you are willing to pay to play. But, like any other business, car companies are basically making their specialty, people and cargo transporting vehicles, or special purpose vehicles to make a profit, and pay the bills so they can stay in business, and also offer what consumers want. But companies like Toyota have a paradigm of quality, reliability, dependability, and longevity, like Honda, which is why most of those cars well maintained and not abused can go over 300K miles with the original drivetrain. Anyone can floor the accelerator, but are the professionally trained like race car drivers, law enforcement, etc.? Not so much, because I see and hear of many crashes dsily, from mild to seriousl catastrophe from idiots speeding, driving recklessly or impaired, or goofing off can causing serious damages and injuries/fatalities. Cars are meant to be enjoyed, I get that, but we must be responsible and accountable, and the car manufacturers know that, for liability reasons. Which is great that super high horsepower cars come with better brakes, and standard safety features are more common. And that these uber high performance vehicles are usually too expensive for at least the majority of idiots can afford to buy, but sometimes they get hold of their parent's cars. These cars are mainstream vehicles for the massed. The popular models have a larger aftermarket performance offering available, but some people like cars with sporty trim, and performance suspension, handling dynamics with sufficient power to get out of the way, merge onto freeways, but do it safely. That's why they are called Sport versions. Anyone can drive them safely, but the moderate enthusiasts have what they need and want, instead of the entey level LX, and optioned EX 'pedestrian' cars, who like cushy rides with bling, or save money for the frugal. If you want performance, get a popular car model and knock yourself out with the aftermarket. Or take advantage of this capitalist society while you still can and find ways to make money and get the Si, Type R, or other weapon of your choice.
yall rlly commenting about the horsepower between the trim levels. if you care so much why don’t u just tune the car. that’s what i did n my car is simply flying and when i drag race against the EX ur precious lil turbo engine didn’t help it much and i won so. i’ll enjoy my civic sport thank u very much

The naturally aspirated 2 liter 4 cylinder engine is pretty much bulletproof, plus if you like to keep a car for a long time this engine will probably outlast the 1.5 Turbo.
Anyone else have an issue with the backup camera? It make it seem like everything next to you is closer than it actually is and it's also distorted. I've attempted to switch the views on the screen but no luck.
Strange that this car doesn’t have blind spot warning ⚠️ on the side mirrors and heated seats. My 2022 civic sport does. Just bought it on Wednesday night in Canada

i just got this car in red today. I’m loving it so far, i the eco mode is nice. I def think you could get more for less with another car make. However, I dont think you can go wrong with a new car and the trunk space is very nice which was my biggest concern.
I feel like they could have at least given remote seat adjustment for the price, the Honda accord 2018-2020 has remote seats and is a bit cheaper, its still an amazing car but some things they have downgraded in

I appreciate the fact that you are reviewing a typical trim level that average Joe looks at. Too many journalists go straight to the top of the line and forget that most of us are on a budget and that this is the only car they have. I've noticed in general that Honda and even Acura's tend to have more NVH.

For everyone knocking the sport for being nonturbo remember all turbos even Honda ones will go out and are extremely expensive to replace. Not to mention you are putting vastly more pressure on a little 4 cylinder engine. I'll happily sacrifice power for an engine that will last longer.

Several automakers, including Honda, use the "Sport" trim designation to disguise the fact that it lacks a significant number of features found in higher trims. In reality the $1600 MSRP difference between the "Sport" and the higher priced "EX" version buys a number of significant upgrades, the most critical of which is the more powerful 180 HP turbo engine. Along with that comes a power moonroof, blind spot monitoring, and more extensive driver assistance and safety features. The Sport's "advantages? 18" rather than 17" wheels and paddle shifters, a feature about as useful on a CVT equipped vehicle as they would be on a poodle.
The new Civic is an impressive vehicle but the "Sport" trim is hardly the "value" leader. That designation arguably belongs to the EX trim.

@@stephenhendricks103 Better value is subjective. Each of the four trim levels are specifically configured for a different targeted demographic consumer. The Sport to me is the better value if you are old enough to understand the concept decades ago, when there were entry level performance cars with the sporty aesthetics, tires and suspension, and performance without the frills. The EX is the value for those that want all those features, but not so performance enthusiast minded.
The Sport is perfect for me, I prefer the functionality over a sunroof, power seats, etc, but if I am able to, I would have no qualms splurging on a Touring or Sport Touring Hatchback to get the best of both worlds, especially the leather seats, Bose Stereo, wireless charging & Apple Carplay/Android Auto, etc.
I still would prefer the N/A 2.0L engine with 20 less HP for the reliability and longevity. To each their own. At least we have option, not like if you only had one choice, like in China, where practically all the bicycles are identical.
Personaly I strongly prefer the line of the 10th generation. 11th generation looks more like a small Accord.

Not having a Blind Spot monitoring when you have other safety features just doesn't make sense to me as that has to be the most useful and important safety feature. I think when it comes to value Hyundai Elantra is a much better option.

Agreed, but it's a much more substantial and better driving vehicle. The overall package of the Civic/Accord is better than the Sonata/Elantra, but if you want the most tech for the $, the Hyundai is the way to go.

After driving my ‘02 Civic LX for 18 years, I really needed a new(er) car. I bought a brand new 2023 Honda Civic Touring in January 2023. Definitely a lot fancier than my last Civic! I love the understated exterior and semi-luxury interior. Mine is meteorite metallic gray with a two tone black/gray interior. (Well, Honda calls them gray but the seats look ivory to me.) It’s a beautiful car and I’m thrilled with it.
I’m from Mexico and watched this video for reference (btw, great coverage, congrats!) and i’m amazed that in Mexico the sport trim has more equipment than the sport in the US, like a sunroof, the 9” display, rear central armrest, dual-zone ac, 60/40 folding, and fog lights, but it misses on the honda sensing
The reason I went with the EX instead of the sport for this generation is because the lack of a moonroof and blind spot indicators is kinda ridiculous 😅
Plus you get the Turbo charged engine instead which makes it faster than the sport lol.
And remote start
I looked at the EX but once I sat in and then drove the Touring I was sold. Great car for $29k.

But there are a few key features that I would want before I plop down or finance $25k -$29k for one of these compact cars (more like midsize by EPA standards). But Honda is smart and maybe they know these will sell like hot cakes as they are equipped currently in their respective trim levels. Who am I to suggest otherwise. And that is good for them. They will survive without my money.

I believe Toyota does the same thing with the Corolla in terms of the upper door materials. But Mazda doesn't seem to do the same. Then again, like you were saying, Honda knows what they're doing and they'll definitely sell a lot of these Civics.
@@kevinabraham2029 oh yea you nailed it. I don’t pretend to know all their moves I’m just speculating. But they are successful companies for a reason. I know that I’m a particular person with high expectations. I talk to friends and family that could care less about a lot of things that I insist on or expect. They could care less about soft touch this n that and soft closing and felt lined this n that. I have to remind myself that different people prioritize different things. And for non car people who will be the Civics main demographic, they’ll believe Honda knocked this new generation out of the park. And that’s okay. It’s not a bad choice at all.
I like the car but definitely should have the turbo for the sport. And yes blind spot w Bose system, I would be willing to pay a little more since this is most likely the younger buyers. That said I’m waiting for the hatchback in touring trim .
The Sport 2.0L N/A engine is more reliable and durable than the 1.5L Turbo albeit 20 less HP. I also wish the Sport had the Bose sound system, wireless charging & Apple Carplay and Android Auto, because I would rather have this engine, and save money, unless I could afford the Touring with all the goodies. I wish they offer the LED foglights as an OEM Dealer installed accessories kit, if they don't plan to have it already.
I passed by my local Honda dealership this morning, and they had an Aegean Blue Metallic Touring sedan. If I had the money now, I would have bought it today.
But I would really like the Hatchback, too, for the cargo utility, though both body styles look great in Sport and Touring. *Sport Touring on the Hatchback. The latter has the Sport pedals like the Sport trim, and the Hatchbacks may have a slightly more performance oriented suspension, but the sedan Sport/Touring is fine. I am sure you can upgrade the shocks and springs if you have the sedan. The Bose system should be awesome, but at least the stereo in this one is pretty nice. Even another reviewer mentioned the stereo on the Sport is pretty decent. Again, you can also upgrade the speakers, amps, subwoofer, though not specifically engineered for this car. I would probably go with Rockford Fosgate, JBL or Sony ES Mobile.
It's a cost and production streamlining issue that each trim comes pretty much configured one way, with everything else OEM dealer installed accessories you can get later, or at time of purchase to keep costs down.
The Sport lost the foglights, leatherette door and center counsole armrests, along with the split 60/40 rear folding seat to keep the cost the same as the previous generation Sport Sedan with the new upgrades, and that's fine with me. I just wish the foglights were available as a kit to get later, especially now that it is LED.
People always say cars should have more power, but both engines are fine for the respective trims for the majority of those that would get this.
If you want performance and intend to tune and tweak your car, wait for the Si. If I had my way, Honda should offer the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine from the Accord Sport and Touring as an option/special order to really make it something in it's category, as the Si is the more common and affordable enthusiast option, that is more comfortable, and practical as an everyday driver compared to the Type R, which is more for diehard tunets, racers, collectors with more resources at their disposal.
The turbo 1.5 Lt motor suffers from oil dissolution issues.Stick with the 2.0 Lt.It is a far more reliable engine.
@@cahg3871 I believe that the newer ones took care of the oil dilution, and they have new formulated oil viscosities to minimize that problem. I plan to get the Sport, but if I can, I will get the Sport/Sport Touring Hatchback. IMHO, the Touring Sedan and Sport Touring Hatchback should have the 1.5L 200 HP engine from the last Si, and the upcoming Si should have the detuned Type R 2.0L engine with 270 HP from the Accord Sport/Touring.

For example our SPORT, has heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, USB ports in the back seats, dual zone climate, arm rest in the back, and pocket on the seat!! You guys got screwed lol
Even with less horsepower, I would rather have the reliability of the N/A engine for the Sport. The Touring gets the turbo engine because it's expected to have more power for the extra price with all the bells and whistles.
But yes, I can do without the other tech from the Touring, but I wish it did have the Bose system, wireless charging/Apple Carplay/Android Auto, 2 USB in front and back. But the infotainment deck is sufficient. You can upgrade the speakers, amps, and add subwoofers of your choice. They just won't be precision designed, tuned and calibrated for the specific acoustics of the vehicle like the Bose and other premium sound systems in other vehicles, like the Acuras, Lexus, Toyotas, and others.
Long ago, at least the American car manufacturers would have cars wirh a whole choice of options.
They used to have fully loaded performance models, but usually had a more affordable version with the performance engine, transmission and tires with a lower trim interior, different wheels, and not as fancy exterior body trim.
Or it was more common or easy to special order colors and options.
But, with today's more efficiency in production, to keep costs down almost all brands and models come a certain way with specific equipment, with most of the options available as OEM dealer installed accessories. That's just the way it is, and it makes sense to me.
Unless I can spring for the Touring Sedan, or Sport Touring Hatchback, I would be happy with the Sport Sedan/Hatchback.
I just wish that the Sport still had the foglights, which may be available later as a dealer installed accessory kit when inventory supply is makes the available. They already may be available for back order.
Also, the leatherette door and center console armrests were replace with the cloth ones, like the LX, that also were in the Si.
I can live with the one piece rear seatback folding down, instead of the 60/40 one, but wish that you could lower them from the passenger compartment, instead of just just from the trunk. Unsure if you can do that on the hatchbacks.
IMHO, the Sport Touring Hatchback should have had the engine, gearbox and LSD from the last Si for the manual version.
And they should make the Si essentially with Sport trim to keep costs down, but add the detuned Type R 2.0L Turbo engine from the Accord Sport/Touring, and Si specific seats, trim, badging, suspension/brakes and body add ons.
This trim, which is the volume seller, should definitely come with a moonroof and fog lights...

Honda has done moonroof and fogs on EX trims forever. At least for the past 30+ years. I like the fact that they are trying to keep cost down for the sport
@@smokesgtp dual zone climate control should definitely be there and so should blind spot monitoring. The 10th gen had fog lights standard on every trim with the exception of the lx. Honda should offer a premium package for around $1500 that would give us a moonroof option with the bose audio. I say that because the competition offers options like that. I wish Honda would indulge in packages the same way Hyundai and Toyota does.

My brother had the exact same car but when he was leaving work he got in a car crash and only one airbag deployed.. the steering wheel airbag no other airbag but he came out safe just a broken knee cap it’s not severe but I’m so proud of Honda I recommend this car

I learned all and acquired all that ages ago in the old school tactical driving with Honolulu PD. Stab and steer braking and all that, decades before ABS, airbags traction/stability control, Honda Sense and the other equivalent safety features. The cars we trained in were old big Chevies like the originsl Five-OH series with the big blue bubblegum machine light and siren/PA speaker, and were light stock car racing machines. Way different than today's rides...
@@nodak81 actually just adjust your mirrors correctly, your outboard door mirrors canted well out so your blind spots are nearly eliminated (Click and Clack describe its adjusting). I know for a fact nearly every driver out there has them adjusted for parking (canted in) as opposed to driving, where the views are critical.

The point of the Sport is to have a fun daily to drive. Not a super luxurious one. And while I do agree that it seems a bit petty to not include BSM, The Sport trim is most likely just a cheap fun new car that's excellent as a daily.

In Canada the civic sport is one of the higher trims(LX, EX, Sport, Sport Touring) and comes with a moonroof and fog lights. Not sure why it’s so different in the USA. All civics also have Blind Spot Monitoring.

I figure it was to keep the price rge same as the previous generation Sport Sedan with the new refinements. I am not going to argue much if they offer a dealer installed LED foglight kit as an OEM accessory I can get later.
The same basuc equipment configuration is a carryover, except the two other things I noticed gone: The leatherette door and center console armrests, that the Si didn't have, either, and the rrar folding seats is one piece, not 60/40 like the previous one. No biggie for me since I usually fold both down when I do, anyway.

Within the first month of ownership the entire engine cover came off on the freeway. Then another piece came off 1 month later. Both fixed at dealership on separate occasions. The air flow lighting has never worked or lit up. I thought that was just the way it was. I was wrong. Taking that to get fixed. Dashboard makes cracking noises when going over bumps. Electric seats make creaking noises when moving. Audio cuts in and out constantly and navigation screen gets blurry and freezes. Averaging 27mpg constantly no matter how I drive.
I just don’t understand what’s going on. I have a 2003 Honda Civic with 400,000 miles. I’ve never had issues with that car like this 2022 touring. Want records?? I have it.
Great review guys. Honda should have switched out the soft dash for hard touch plastics and made the top of the door panels soft instead of hard.
Can’t go wrong with any civic model, even if after a couple years you crave more features.. you’ll easily be able to trade in and get a higher model due to the phenomenal resale value. I sell Hondas and always recommend picking up the highest trim you can afford from the start. Goes with any vehicle purchase if your in the air between trim levels.

I still think this 2022 Civic is a good car. However, I will say this. The 2022 is worth it if you have a 2015 or older civic. I have a 2020 Civic and if you have a 2016-2021 Civic, this new one feels more like a refresh than a redesign. Still, this and the Mazda 3 are my favorite choices and you can't really go wrong with either car.
The 11th generation’s design is more mature.
The front of the 10th gen SI is awesome , the rest, meh ... Cant wait to get the next Si. So far, my 2014 SI was my favorite

The one thing that I don’t like about it that I think is kind of ridiculous is that they add the paddle shifters and drive mode to the sport, but you lose the turbo engine I feel like it should be opposite have the sport trim model with the turbo and drive mode and the EX with just the paddle shifters
Why did Honda delete the temp gauge from the lower trim models. I know, to save money and cheapen the instrument panel. So now you have hope the idiot light will come on in time down the line if the engine overheats. Bad design on Honda’s part. Hopefully for the 2023 model the temp gauge will be installed on all trims as it should be.

The lane assist is ok but the wheel will shake if u go out of yr lane to alert u which is a good function but it’s scary sometimes when u don’t expect it. But u can turn that feature off. I’m small so is spacious for me. My husband is 6’1 about 215 pds & he said he fits comfortable in the front but everyone is different. We went w the new car because we originally looked at a 2018 Nissan Rogue & they wanted $600/mo. He said for that we can buy a new car so we did. it’s so quiet sometimes I Check to make sure its on after I remote start it. Gotten a lot of compliments on it. Rides real nice. Really the car is great though.
I think I'd go for the LX cuz the EX is too expensive and I don't wanna spend over a thousand dollars just for smart entry and some other features that aren't worth it.

The Canadian Civic Sport seems to be a different car than the American version. It's a trim level above the EX. Interesting.
For the money I'll go with the sport,not to mention bigger engine and less stress. Even though has les horsepower. But that along will make the sport with the 2.0 litre last longer ,than the 1.5 turbo.

"Sport" used to indicate a quite high speced car, on this it strucks me how much this is a base car with a few "expensive but not really necissary options" Rather than keyless entry and a semi digital rev counter, I would have loved to had heated mirrors, luminated make-up mirrors or a 60/40 split rear seat...

*The Sport/Touring have the Sport suspension, and yes, that, and the engines are a carryover, which is a good thing. But there are refinements to this new version. Almost all reviewers have stated tge hsndling characteristics of both versions are great, but the new one is different, more refined, while the previous one has a more racy feedback.
Though sporty, keep in mi ds these are the mainstream consumer models, not the performance oriented Si and Tyoe R, and the Hatchback, at least on Sport and Sport Touring trim are believed to have a slightly more performance oriented suspension tuning to go withbthe more aggressuve front fascia and smoke tint headlights and foglights.

Only thing that’s different is the Sport trim is the only trim that comes with paddle shifters.

Can't understand why Honda went out of their way to make the cheap looking half LCD/half anaolog gauge cluster. Surely it's cheaper to just include the full LCD?
I went with the sport trim, partially because it was the highest trim in my budget, but also because it gets just a couple quality of life improvements over the LX still, like the smart entry, better speaker system, and the 3 drive modes. The paddle shifters are definitely fairly useless 90% of the time, especially considering you can basically switch driving modes to achieve the same thing, but having certain styling features is nice. Last car I had was 2007 CR-V and based on how much I didnt use the sunroof or heated seats, I figured I wouldn't miss them.
I will say I did test drive the Touring also, and one thing that happened while driving and using wireless apple car play and wireless charigng is my phone notified me that its tempature was too high, so thats something to keep in mind for some particularly hot areas. I think the only things I really missed from the touring model were blindspot monitoring and maybe the bose sound system, but sound systems can always be upgraded aftermarket
WE got better deal in CANADA lol IT's crazy. It's like they gave us the Sport model, with TOURING features, minus the Turbo engine. For example our SPORT, has heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof, USB ports in the back seats, dual zone climate, arm rest in the back, and pocket on the seat!! You guys got screwed lol

As long as it has the 2.0 Lt.motor.Those 1.5 Lt. Turbo motors suffer from oil dissolution issues.The turbo pushes fuel into the cylinders and with too much force which pushes that fuel past the piston head into the oil reservoir.There is no way to fix that issue irregardless of what Honda says.Check out Scotty Kilmer’s TH-cam channel for further information on this issue.

I bought the crv in 2018 and when I realized the oil dilution problem Honda did not want to address it , and the dealer tried to play it off. When I would change the oil you could clearly smell gas in it. Still to this day the gas is in the oil slowly wearing down my motor. Later Honda notified me of an extended warranty of one year more only on certain parts like the turbo, and the heating element in the heater. This is why I will only buy the sport model with the 2.0 motor. There turbo motors are the worst and dont make the same mistake that I made.

Here's where Honda cut corners. No fog lights, hard plastic on upper door panels, no power drivers seat, no map pockets behind front seats, no rear center armrest, no rear connection for USB or power, and no engine temp gauge in the instrument cluster. Pretty lame for a $24K car.
Not even a temp gauge, map pockets, or rear cupholders? My old 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier had all those features, and it was a freaking base model with no air condition or power windows. I am keeping my 2020 Civic EX. The 11th gen civic also come with standard start stop, so if you dislike that feature, then pickup the 2021 Civics while you still can.

@@StealthyAviator exactly. I’ve had 2 of those. The current model looks funky so I got a 21’ Mazda CX-5. I hurt my back in a car accident in June. I prefer a car like the new Acura TLX. Until I get my spine fixed it’s easier to get in & out of a crossover. So I leased this for 3 years. Maybe when I get healed I can get a Genesis sedan or Acura. I’ll have a larger budget by then too. But the current Accord does drive nice. I don’t like CVT’s anyway so this Mazda with Turbo is fine for 3 years. However I want 4 way lumbar and this Mazda only has 2-way. Oh well. Sorry you don’t care about all of this sh*t I’m spewing. My bad bro. Take care.

I love my 2020 civic sport sedan and actually like the interior better than the 11th gen but I like the 11th gen exterior a little more than mine. I do wish mine had heated mirrors and I was surprised the intermittent wipers aren't adjustable(my dad's 1995 ford escort has adjustable intermittent). I also could use heated seats since mine is a manual and does not have remote start. And while I don't usually haul people around it would be nice to have dual climate control. And to be honest it would be nice to have the blind spot camera with the use of the turn signal. But I can't complain too much except for the wipers and mirrors

The 2022 Civic CVT is tweaked and tuned to have more realistic shift simulation under more acceleration, and Honda and Toyota make the best CVTs out there. The 6 Speed is available on the upcoming Sport/Sport Touring Hatchback and the Si, along with the Type R.
Keep in mind, the fact is, the entry level cars with the smaller, economical engines are going to have CVTs for the automatic versions because of lower production costs, and mostly to get required, or competitive fuel economy numbers.
Also, so many self proclaimed performance drivers alway chime in like this or that car should have a supercharger, or turbo, like the Toyota Camry TRD.
What people don't realize, car manufacturers are not primarily there to make performance cars. They do offer them, but there are also specialized tuner companies that modify them, or aftermarket industry for DIY modifications if you are willing to pay to play.
But, like any other business, car companies are basically making their specialty, people and cargo transporting vehicles, or special purpose vehicles to make a profit, and pay the bills so they can stay in business, and also offer what consumers want.
But companies like Toyota have a paradigm of quality, reliability, dependability, and longevity, like Honda, which is why most of those cars well maintained and not abused can go over 300K miles with the original drivetrain.
Anyone can floor the accelerator, but are the professionally trained like race car drivers, law enforcement, etc.? Not so much, because I see and hear of many crashes dsily, from mild to seriousl catastrophe from idiots speeding, driving recklessly or impaired, or goofing off can causing serious damages and injuries/fatalities.
Cars are meant to be enjoyed, I get that, but we must be responsible and accountable, and the car manufacturers know that, for liability reasons. Which is great that super high horsepower cars come with better brakes, and standard safety features are more common. And that these uber high performance vehicles are usually too expensive for at least the majority of idiots can afford to buy, but sometimes they get hold of their parent's cars.
These cars are mainstream vehicles for the massed. The popular models have a larger aftermarket performance offering available, but some people like cars with sporty trim, and performance suspension, handling dynamics with sufficient power to get out of the way, merge onto freeways, but do it safely. That's why they are called Sport versions.
Anyone can drive them safely, but the moderate enthusiasts have what they need and want, instead of the entey level LX, and optioned EX 'pedestrian' cars, who like cushy rides with bling, or save money for the frugal.
If you want performance, get a popular car model and knock yourself out with the aftermarket. Or take advantage of this capitalist society while you still can and find ways to make money and get the Si, Type R, or other weapon of your choice.

yall rlly commenting about the horsepower between the trim levels. if you care so much why don’t u just tune the car. that’s what i did n my car is simply flying and when i drag race against the EX ur precious lil turbo engine didn’t help it much and i won so. i’ll enjoy my civic sport thank u very much

1.5T Touring was my go to choice with all the bells and whistles..we love ours!

The naturally aspirated 2 liter 4 cylinder engine is pretty much bulletproof, plus if you like to keep a car for a long time this engine will probably outlast the 1.5 Turbo.

i just got this car in red today. I’m loving it so far, i the eco mode is nice. I def think you could get more for less with another car make. However, I dont think you can go wrong with a new car and the trunk space is very nice which was my biggest concern.

Test drove one today and ride was too stiff for me. Sadly rough Utah roads were too much for the suspension.
