This just in. The D.B. Cooper comics also were published in German language edition. Did a search recently, looked at images of covers and saw a German edition. I don't know the years though.

Ironic sidelight: Larry Carr, who was the last FBI lead agent on the case and the one who commissioned the Citizen Sleuth group that investigated the case, looks very much like the Dan Cooper character in the French-language graphic novel series.
Another sidelight is that you do not need to know much French to read the Dan Cooper comics. Someone with high school or college French or someone who picked up a little French working in Canada or serving with the military in Europe could easily read the Dan Cooper stories. For that matter, Dan-D.B. Cooper, the fugitive skyjacker, may have studied French in the military language school. People make things seem cosmic that aren't cosmic. It isn't that hard to spend off or break 10,000 $20 bills one or two at a time over a few years. It isn't hard to know enough of a foreign language to read a comic book.

In actuality, as A Fan of 1930s/40s Mystery Movies, Whiskey (Bourbon) and Soda is what's Normally Ordered by The Characters, however, it's The Norm to Put Club Soda (Seltzer) out of A Bottle, into The Whiskey. From Reports on Cooper, He'd Ordered A Bourbon And 7Up. Therefore, at the very least, Whiskey And Soda was A Usual Drink, at least, in The Movies.

Maybe he needed the whiskey to calm his nerves and thought of the soda as an add on to keep his stomach feeling good plus he was smoking to chillax

Sounds like Duane Weber, may have decided to go straight after he found out FBI, photographed most of the money and FBI wrote down most of the serial numbers ,also he buried most of it at night ,the night of the jump, and just couldn't find the place, when he returned at later time,in the rugged thick terrain of the WA, Cascade mountain range.

Cle Elum (pronounced like El in Ellen, plus um) is due east of Seattle in the Cascades, there's no way Cooper landed anywhere near there. The other point you never mention is that there's no way Cooper could have survived given the clothing he was wearing. He would have been hypothermic before ever hitting the ground. He had no way of telling where he would land. The authorities had no clue where he landed and they had the benefit of a location where the "bump" happened presuming he jumped at that point.

When did the Dan Cooper comic strip come out? Is it possible he got the idea and name from the comic book?

    • @anonymike8280

The Dan Cooper comics started in the 1950s and continued at least into the 1970s. It was French language. It was not published in English, but it may have been published in German translation. I saw a cover in German on the internet but only once.
It has been speculated that Dan Cooper the skyjacker took the name from the comic series, but it is not at all proven. Further speculation is that Dan Cooper may have been a French Canadian. But someone would not need to know a lot a French to be able to read the comic. High school or college French would would be sufficient. If the series was published also in German, that would a gamechanger for the people who believe that he took the name from the comic. I consider it possible that he took the name from the comic, but who knows?

S.T. Sunshine did a video about the F.FENN treasure hunt auction. The nose rings that weren’t noticed or talked about are my 2 gold C’s.
Yesterday was my 4 years of being out searching. And yesterday was the first I ever heard A Bunko Steerer.
Chris, The Fenn thing was a hoax. Do I care about the treasure or the Truth? When the world gets on track I would like to tell you about what my experience was about the infamous treasure hunt that Flopped.
Why tie this together now? New information has come to light.
I’ll leave a comment on swindler “fools gold” so not to mention any of Man’s Dates and that pcast isn’t 3 years old.

Bourbon (actually blended whiskey) and soda, Coke or Seven Up was what everyone drank back then if they didn't drink beer. What someone today likes is irrelevant.

People keep on saying, none of the money was ever spent. But $200 was missing from one of the bundles found at Tena Bar in 1980. At least that much could have been spent. Whether any large amount was ever spent is unknown, of course. Many claims have been made by various investigators and aficionados. All of them are far too emphatic, including the so-called "scientific" ones. As to suspects, some of the arguments in isolation sound compelling. But at the most only one of the suspects can possibly be Cooper, which means that just as easily, all of them could not be Cooper. The strangest theory without a doubt is that Cooper used the money to invest in a night club in San Jose, California called D.B. Cooper's. Even in the 1980's, $200K was nowhere near enough to open a mainstream nightclub.

When you say bourbon and soda, is it like club soda? Carbonated water? Coca Cola?
I know many who do bourbon and Coca Cola. I prefer neat myself, with a glass of water on the side.

Bourbon and mix of some kind probably was the most popular hard liquor drink of the era, and I was there. The most common mixes were club soda, Seven Up (lemon lime), and cola. What these guys would or wouldn't drink is irrelevant. It was what people drank back then. The type of bourbon used usually was blended whiskey, not straight bourbon.
