Wish I'd have read the comments first. I did the replacement and figured out as I want along not everything needed removing and certainly not disconnecting. Useful video though, objective achieved.
Great video. I have the same model of notebook and a message appears to me to press f5 to continue with Windows, and also when I turn it on the time is late.
I have probably replaced around fifty CMOS batteries (for BIOS data settings backup) in my days. This video would have been even more informative if the ending section where the actual CMOS battery connector removal and pin layout shown, had not been completely hidden by a big hand quickly moving, blocking any possibility to view connector layout and wiring. It cannot even be seen in slow-mo clearly. Advice: show that part slower and zoom in on battery spec and connector pin layout. Other than that, keep up the good work!
I believe I need to change the battery on the motherboard as well. And another problem with my notebook is the speark sound, which sometimes works and then stops. What can this be?
I just removed the back plate. I think this was a complete tear down video and they just stopped when they got to the CMOS. There's a ton of screws holding the back plate in place, but you do not need to do a lot of what they did. You will have to remove the speakers, fan, and hard drive though.
this is so f cked up from dell to access the battery you have to strip the whole unit. this unit has mainly fault with backlight where the mosfet is so weak it will burn out . advice always put tsop package mosfet n fet with larger current then it will last.
the mosfet for backlight is on the right side of the board just next to dock connector you can use a capton tape with 3 wire and any n fet like 4022 and so on.

Thanks, you just increased my confidence, now I feel like a professional technician.
It was not very simple, but you saved me a lot of time and cost. Thank you for sharing.

All went well ☺️... Now my laptop is able to save bios settings after a reboot... Thanks 🙏👍
you do NOT have to remove the heat sink to get the back plate off...

Hardest part was removing the speakers. The @#)!% connector was so tight!

Damn it dell... Why you make it so hard to get cmos battery replaced.. The other model, you just remove back cover...
A great laptop I still use to this day but this is a serious con. Thankfully I bypass it by just having a normal battery inside.
That's what downvotes were useful for
this guy buries his dog in his back yard every time he needs gas.
Ohhh fuck...all this..to remove the fucking cmos
you did not need to remove the keyboard.
its easier than it looks.
holy shit.. just for a stupid battery..
dell thiết kế máy này kém quá, pin thì lồi ra, pin cmos thì rả cả máy ra mới thay đc
Yeah this sucks but not as bad as having to replace my video card on my old Compal FL90 lol
