ध्वनि ऊर्जा का एक रूप है जो हमारे कानों में श्रवण का संवेदन उत्पन्न करती है . यह तरंगों के रूप में गति करती है . ध्वनि तरंगें यांत्रिक तरंगें है . हम विभिन्न वस्तुओं में घर्षण द्वारा , खुरच कर , रगड़ कर , वायु फूंक कर या उनको हिलाकर ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर सकते है . इन क्रियाओं में वस्तु कंपमान होती है और इससे ध्वनि उत्पन्न होती है .
