Finally someone with a realistic comparison of the Syntesi to the Rockwell.. plate 3.5 is the perfect description… Ohio shaves compared it to a Rockwell 6 plate… and I thought sure… I use the Syntesi daily and would never touch a 6 plate… so nope.
@peterk.824 sorry I was logged into my other account & forgot to circle back. Yes I was rather confused Ohio shaves chose the #6 plate & didnt stress the big difference shaving with them. For me the Rockwell 4 plate can be pushing it on sensitive days with a light vegan lather soap. I enjoy the syntesi and didn’t find a ton of comparisons or reviews on it so I took a chance on it. It’s definitely Rockwell 3.5 category too me. Thus far it’s the smoothest SS razor I’ve tried. Although I imagine the overlander in SS would be nice as well but also costs much more than syntesi. Thanks for the comments & have a good weekend.
@@Stubblemeetssteel I was looking some time for a stainless steel cnc made de razor which is not to aggressiv. I couldn’t find one. For some reason companies tend to make ss razors more aggressive… Mühle Rocca, ej 3one6, even the Greencult and so on. So I stuck with the rockwell mim made stainless, which is a fantastic razor… currently I rotate between Rockwell plate 3, Merkur 34g and the Syntesi… for me these are all close to each other. Thanks for the video comparison.
Great shave John! Regarding Bay Rums, I think I would like Gabel's Bay Rum because I love forward scented clove aftershaves. Clubman is still my favorite. I just wish it have more benefits and longevity to it like the artisan products have in their Bay Rums like B&M, Stirling, or PAA. PAA is a beast with their Bay Rum lineups. Atomic Age Bay Rum is awesome and Capt'n Smythe's Bay Rum and Leather Aftershave/Cologne is amazing!
@zypang1447 that would be a fun comparison. I don’t have the torqx to compare it with though. From what I’ve heard the torx is more aggressive and less useful settings according to users. Slope if you like more mild razors. Torqx if you like more medium/aggressive
Great comparison. I love my styletto but the synthesis ss has being on my radar. I Currently rotate between styletto and the timeless aluminum for daily shaves.
@r55mannyp if you like the styletto and timeless aluminum you should love the syntesi. I’ve yet to find a SS razor as smooth and easy to use as the syntesi. The 921, alpha EVO, muhle rocca are all a bit much for me. the Syntesi is much closer to the razors you have. I would say it feels easier and safer than the timeless but is more efficient too.
All these open comb videos made me want to try a new open comb. I'm tempted to try the Fatip OC, I know it's very efficient but a lot of people say that with the blade clamping, rounded teeth and the right angle, it can be quite smooth.
@saguarosmart4100 I was very underwhelmed with Fatip. They require careful manual blade alignment & the finish on mine looked like they dropped it in sand then plated it anyways 🤣🤣 I just watched a video of sig solo and his Fatip had the same crappy finish. Seems like they have 0 quality control. Which is ironic because they claim the razors are hand made. So what they just don’t care what they look and fit like once built? 🤣 Mine was the closed comb slant. It had a very narrow shave angle that was harder to maintain then other slants I’ve used & I hated the blade alignment issue so I sold it.
@@Stubblemeetssteel Yeah that's what I heard. Basically If you're lucky to get a good one, the piccolo open comb is a nice aggressive razor (a bit less than R41 but still very high efficiency) but lots of people get lemons or at least disappointing pieces. As you've said, It's a bummer because otherwise they offer a full brass razor for cheaper than some brands sell zamak razors. I might have to splurge for a Lambda Ares if I really want a top quality and enjoyable open comb.
Hey thank for the video. I bought an open comb and basically came to the same conclusion as you. Think the open comb has a bit more blade feel. I still think the syntesi is the better option even better than a Rockwell 4 plate
@garyseymour1617 I agree! The Rockwell 4 plate is a tad much some days for me. The Syntesi feels less dangerous and as efficient if not more. Glad you saw the video.
@bendawson4336 I would say the Styletto feels like a Rockwell 3 plate but has efficiency of a 3.5. I find it gets me bbs easier then a #3 plate and it’s probably very close if not even to a 4 plate efficiency wise
Nice shave John

Compare the Ultima Slope to the Torqx. Fav Bay Rum is from Caties.
