Palau was never invaded by the Japanese, when Germany lost ww1 the allies forced them to make repremends. Japan was part of the alliance and was given German territories in south east asia and the Pacific, it was a peaceful transition.
@@jrechebei Before the end of the war, Japan did take control of the island by placing their military there. After the war and peace conferrence the island became Japanese.
@Shown Morris Exactly how am I misguiding the public? The video stated that Japan took over Palau during WW2. That is factually not correct. The Japanese Navy seized the islands during 1914 and later during WW1 the islands were annexed by the Japanese Empire. After the war Japan received a mandate to administrate the islands as part of the South Pacific Mandate, in a similar way South Africa had the mandate to Administrate South West Africa (now Namibia). (SOURCE: Wikipedia) This is basically what I said above only with more detail. If you still disagree with what I posted, I suggest you state which parts you find an issue with and give a source rather than attacking people in the TH-cam Comments section for trying to correct a date. Just because you are local does not you know everything about your own country. And I am willing to accept if I am wrong, but I have no idea what you are on about and you just decide to lay into me for what? Trying to state a correction regarding during which war Japan took over control? Maybe try adding substance and context to your post rather just being insulted. Why not use this oppertunity to educate someone not from your country on your history rather than just attacking them.

Wow Palau has tinola too! 🇵🇭♥️🇵🇼
Pacific islands are not even mentioned or given enough attention besides the state of Hawaii. I’ve been very fascinated with islands in the pacific and one day, I might visit some of the islands like Fiji or even Vanuatu 🇻🇺
Ok , Ninja 🗿💣
Seeing that you have fans from pretty much all the countries, I am surprised you only have 1.6mln subscribers.
Waiting for the combo: Philippines, Poland, Portugal in a row

What's funny about it??

Beautifully made episode. I appreciate the effort put into making this. Animations especially with satellite maps are greatly improved! Thanks! Excited for the Philippines episode
Yo barbs great content thanks for continuing to do geography and teaching people new things while everyone else is playing Minecraft and Fortnite
Finnish Nationalist agreed

Woot woot! Panama. I met many amazing friends from Panama while studying in the USA! It's been over 15 years now - I need to visit Panama!
Finally another video! Palau has a pretty rich history which I didnt know.
Correction: Palau was invaded and taken over by Japan from Germany during World War 1, not 2 as stated at 13:05.
Thanks for the episode.
Thank you! I came here looking for this comment
(SOURCE: Wikipedia)
This is basically what I said above only with more detail.
Very true
As a Palauan, this was awesome to watch since I haven't been to my home since 1980.
Wow! Im surprised palau has foods like "tinola" and "halo halo" which can also be found from the philippines. btw im filipino
Yung tinola at Halo-halo galing talaga yan sa Pilipinas. Nagsimula yung mga yan dito.
@@SantomPh 17%
with 17% of filipino community, you should not be surprised. dont be surprised to if they also have a tagalog creole lol
I was surprised at first because i was just at the food part then i realised i spoke to soon because at the ethnicity part 17% is filipino
Palau is part of Spanish East Indies.. and was among the initial provinces of the Malolos republic but chose their own way....
Interesting. Very similar to the Philippines. Bai = Bahay/Balai, Tinola, Ukoy, Halo2x, loves Japan and US(not sure now) and very similar past.
we are linguistically and genetically related to each other. in fact, palau and other pacific islanders are descendants of taiwanese aborigines and early filipinos in luzon. hence the similarities.
@@SherwinCeleste-cj7ng of course that does not apply to everyone. A lot of older people hates the Japanese for their monstrosity during WWII (ie., Throwing babies and stabbing them with Bayonets midair etc), still you can't deny that the younger generation adores them since Japanese anime, appliances and other stuff are what they grew up with.
Steve Czyrus Nogadas Also the same for Indonesian, Bai = Balai, since both refer to a community building or town hall, something like that
Sherwin Abarca in Indonesian there’s a specific word for house though, it’s ‘rumah’
Sherwin Abarca but what makes it cool is the fact that its still related
Noticed an increase in quality this episode. Really liked the video
Palau 🇵🇼 is one of my bucket list countries along with Italy 🇮🇹 France 🇫🇷 and Switzerland 🇨🇭
FRUITBAT SOUP!?
it’s good trust me. our bats are clean 💀 and we’re a coronavirus free country still
Bats can be eaten actually, the thing is, the bat soup in China was already infected of some man-made disease.
ah fuck
@@mhmm5264 no thanks
Tinola, Ukoy, Halo-halo... there must be a sizeable Filipino community in Palau.
Barbs just said so. 17%, going back to the Spanish period. It's a similar situation in Guam.
Yes a lot we love Filipino food!
@@mariamargaritaverdadero1874 nakaka gutom diba?🤣
Palau was a part of the Spanish colony of La Islas Filipinas. And Palau and Philippines are very close in some culture. History molded it. Even the language may even sound same.
@@ninjasiren Philippines and Palau are gentetically, linguistically related. but not just palau, all pacific islanders, island southeast asians, madagascar and taiwanese natives are all our relatives. our languages, culture and genes proves it all

China is a human rights violator, makes illegal territorial claims in the East and South China seas, uses unfair trade practices, and destabilizes the east and southeast Asian areas.
Is that enough reason to "hate" the PRC?
@@brianjordan2192 yep
salty sailor i wrote it as a joke, I don’t hate China but I don’t like the illegal claims that they make in asia and no, i’m not a kid
