Yeah I may sound harsh but damn. :D Anyway, I find this important, you need to divide areas not just in geological way, but also in some other ways, i.e. also cities have their own erbs.

In regards to the dead mountain climbers, my friend told me that they always used to make bets: Pole or Czech
That sound horrible and correct. Poles have bad luck, too, when it comes to our mountains. Which makes even less sense than with Czechs, because Poland has Tatras, too. We share the damn mountain!
The problem is that Poles often climb alone in Tatras.
It's always either a Pole or a Czech. There's no inbetween. And if for some weird reason the news report some other nationality, the first question that always gets said out loud is "And wtf was that guy doing there?"
Nah it's mostly Czechs. We have a common conversation starters with our Croatian friends, because Croats know Czechs for ignoring warnings and drawning in the sea and we Slovaks know Czechs for ignoring warnings and dropping of the rocks. Czechs have their own sets of rules.
I mean if this is such a frequent occurrence, why not ban Czechs from climbing those mountains, I'm sure the Czech government will support it.
As a Pole, I can easily understand Slovakian. There are similar words, grammar. I love this country! Na zdravie Susedia!

I am Welsh, married to a Slovak and live in Slovakia and we have a massive mint where I am from in Wales that makes a lot of the money around the world. Between that, the castles and the pride in the nature and mountains found in both countries and the way we are both overlooked in favour of our louder, more well-known neighbours I totally have found my spirit-home in my adopted nation. Now I just need to get fluent in Slovak (getting there) and learn Welsh (hmmmmmmm - a plan for my old age) and I'll be the perfect Welsh-Slovak! This video was great but didn't mention the lakes, spas, and love of wellness here enough.

I am a simple Czech myself, when I see Slovakia I laugh at first, then I take sip of my beer and then I press like.
I am simple Slovak, when I hear Czech i try to get out of avalanche, which is caused obviously because Czechs used their satanic sound of " ř " , which sounds offensive to mountain gods and they try to make a point. I make snarky comment, sip my czech beer and THEN I press like.

Aa far as i remember it's because the track has been historicaly used for lumber and leads through mountains and the area it goes through happens to be the only place around big and flat enough to host a sorcer field. So it was probably more like track first, field second, then they needed a place for tribune but the other side of the field goes downhill so screw it, let's build it at the other side of the track

I was in Bratislava as well, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the city
When it comes to ice hockey, in my eyes, Finland was always the toughest opponent for our 🇸🇰 team but for some reason, I don't know why, I don't know how, Finland had always a soft spot in my heart and it's my number 2 for cheering 🏒🇫🇮 (sorry Czech brothers). What's even weirder, after watching this, I watched the episode about Finland and it seems like heaven to me.
I would literally move there but I'm too scared of the language 🤣.. maybe some day.

We love Finnish hockey fans! Especially in Košice, my hometown. They were fun and not pretentious! We were simply glad, we made you feel happy :)
We also feel some kind of "underdog" (Slovakia) to "semi-underdog" (Finland) connection, when it comes to fighting your big brother (Czechia and Sweden) in ice-hockey. Only difference is, that we are unable to beat our rivals in hockey (we love Czechs, we just desperately want to beat them in the game) , whereas you are just as good as Swedes, despite the population size differences

Slovak is actually considered the original and the closest to what a “proto” Slavic language was / sounded. Polish neighbor here and linguistic hobbyist. I love, love our Slovak Neighbour! 🇵🇱❤️🇸🇰
Different old features remain in different Slavic languages, not a single one contains all of them, but the highest number is in Slovenian language.

Edit: ok, sound and grammar/vocabulary are not the same. But we don't have any tapes of early Slavic, the closest thing, Old Church Slavonic is not as close as someone would think.

Small note regarding pronunciation, we read "j" not like "j" in "pyjamas", but like the "y" in "yes", so some words like "Juraj Jánošík" or "fujara" should be read differently :)
Yeah I’m actually pretty sure most languages would naturally do that which is why the IPA represents Y with a J. I think it’s just that English and French kind of standardised the use of J as a separate letter which is why it’s more commonly seen now.
Yeah, and that "c" is not a hard 'c' or weak 'c', it's a "ts/tz/ț" sound... (Don't know how to spell it... lol)

I am from Croatia and I can understand Slovak language if they talk slowly. "old croatian language" uses the same words. On the other hand I do not understand Czech.
Slovaks are my favorite european people, the ones I met are very similar. I have met plenty slovaks in the Adriatic, but never been to Slovakia unfortunately - it is first on my visit list. High five for this episode!

Learning croatian vocabulary is easier than slovenian - more common roots, much less false friends. Slovakian and slovenian languages have dozens of false friend words.... it´s tricky!

Nad Tatrou sa blíska. A je to trošku inak. Jednak nikto na nás nepošle atómovú bombu pretože nás nikto na mape nenájde. Ďalej. Ak ju náhodou predsa len pošlú z východu, cez Kecerovce a Chminianske Jakubovany neprejde nič čo je zo železa, takže sme v pohode. Ak zo západu, tam to istia Malacky, indiáni z kmeňa Siuxov ju rozoberú za letu a skončí vo výkupe železa alebo v záložni.
