- There was a time not too long ago when Cuba Gooding Jr. was on top of Hollywood. The ‘90s were good for him - he appeared in a number of critically acclaimed films, including A Few Good Men and As Good as It Gets. The actor took home a Best Supporting Actor Oscar in 1997 for his role in Jerry Maguire.
But the good times didn’t last for Gooding. The early aughts brought a series of misfires, and the actor was almost completely relegated to a direct-to-DVD wasteland. It might have something to do with his problematic personal life. Here’s why Hollywood won’t cast Cuba Gooding Jr. anymore.

Outbreak was a great movie, Cuba puking in a hazmat suit was priceless.
It’s weird, you can’t find Boat Trip online ANYWHERE. You have to literally buy the dvd somewhere to watch.
It was on Netflix about a year ago but got pulled so fast! Glad I caught it before it left

I found the Unrated version in a Goodwill about three weeks ago. I had seen it once before, but I forgot 99% of it. The first time was a friend lent me a copy she DVD'ed off a movie channel.

One of the most important parts of being an actor is getting good parts in good movies. As an Oscar winner, I doubt there was any shortage of good roles being offered.

that was a great movie. His role was to wear makeup, say the word "Radio" and look surprised/scared. Not sure, this is the best display of his acting skill, but it was a great movie and I loved the role.
Too bad. Jerry Maguire and Men of Honor are two movies that I really enjoyed.

Radio, The figthing Temptations, Boyz N the Hood, and Men of Honor are my favorite movies from him.
He was great in his direct to dvd movies, as well as his mainstream movies, and I own quite a few with him in it. He was good in chill factor, fighting temptations, red tails, boat trip, and judgment night.
I love a lot of his direct to dvd stuff.
He’s done some good B list/Straight to DVD movies. If you’re a Cuba fan, I advise you to watch “Dirty”, “Bayou Caviar”, “What Love is”, “ShadowBoxer” and etc.

Cuba Gooding Jr went through same mess as Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes. He was a excellent actor. I enjoyed his Action films such as Machete Kills, direct straight DVD action Thriller films also Fighting Temptations opposite Legendary pop star and Actress Beyonce Knowles.
