Both armies look fantastic. But as a fellow Slaves to darkness player, I gotta say..wow! I wish my army looked HALF as cool! I love the snow theme & colour choices, also the alternative models were dope!
The bases are pretty simple. I do a basecoat of Vallejo: Black Lava Asphalt, then I put down some Army Painter Deadland Tufts. Finally I just smear on Vallejo: Snow. I've responded to several other comments about the various alt models. :)
Great batrep as always, love seeing Sylvaneth in the new edition. Warsong is just great! Only one thing, you played the Battleplan slightly wrong. You don’t gain 4 VP for holding both objectives in the middle. As soon as you hold one of them you gain 2 VP, even if you hold both it’s only 2. Looking forward to even more batreps in the future, cheers!
As always the narration steals the show (especially at the end of the Sylvaneth turn four, re-listen if you missed it!).. Great game, the warsong revenant is looking like an auto include for any Sylvaneth army. Interesting point raised by Ryan at the end of the battle about the smaller board size, how big would you say the impact has been from this change?
Loved the BR. The scenery and narration is amazing :) Not sure why StD did not use Inspiring Presence with his last CP on the Marauders in the bottom of round 2. 7 dead Marauders is a lot! (maybe I missed something). Sylvaneth are looking really good in 3.0. Those 24 MW's from the spell were scary!
Love that Sylvaneth army performace in 3.0! Great potential from where they were sitting in 2.0, not the best army but with more tools. And that warsong revenant it's incredible, it's almonst an autoinclude in most match-ups, well, for me it would be him and the ancient tree lord for making sure to have more woods. Maybne this battlerep has been the best from the new edition because both of you have used really well the new command abilities, and redeploy... will be reaaaally usefull! Even for that general who doesn't remember to attack with his scythes XD

The narration is scripted - but that line was on 'on the fly' addition as we were recording. I was originally going to ignore the fact they didn't attack, but thought it was worth pointing out - we all make mistakes at times! XD Plus I knew it would be fun for Cass 🤣

Though, my copy is a special edition resin cast they offered to early backers. I don't know what the quality of the plastic version is. The other with more normal Daemon wings, I randomly came across on Ebay. I have no idea where it is from, I think it was a 3D print on some patreon at some point. Since then I've seen it several times on various Etsy stores. No idea if they have a legit license to sell it or not. Bloodslick ground is a great command ability that doesn’t get used often, Especially with redeploy now a thing. Slaves just lack that punch and shooting. My games have been exact mirrors of this one scoring early and holding on for dear life. Unless I take Archaon of course, but don’t want to always be that guy!

They are a kitbash between the Kings of War: Northern Alliance Clansman box and the Marauder Horsemen kit. I wanted more of a "Wildlings" look for my marauders that makes them look like they actually could live in a frigid north rather than doing the "Conan" style. ;)
I struggle to ever get any value out of it tbh. 1/3 for the prayer to fail makes it an expensive paperweight far too often for my liking. The buffs are great but too unreliable and the 6+ feels redundant in a depoilers build. I think it has a place in Ravagers where you get more mileage out of the ward but since it doesn't even buff non-mortal models, it fails to synergize well with the DPs to begin with.
@@ryancooper3629 good points. Yeah idk I found my self starting to run 2 in my lists just for the undivided buff alone. Basically the best buff piece for the pounts and they can buff them selves in a pinch and make a decent attacker. But I get what your saying with a demon prince heavy lists.

Do modifiers count for the revenants warscroll spell? It says casting roll, so how do you figure this includes modifiers? EDIT: Just checked again, and if you include modifiers, you'd roll 12 dice for each of the 3 units affected and you are doing 24 MW out of the 36 dice on 5+. That's crazy impressive.
You would include modifiers, and with the spellportal placement I actually hit 7 units with the spell (though 2 ignore its effects). So would have been 24/60, which is still slightly above average - but less godly then 24/36 would have been! XD

The 4+ stomp from treemen is the most magical 4+ in the game, it is uncanny how much below 50% the chance of it actually working is. Also, spellportal is so silly, disappointed they didn't take the chance at the edition change to get rid of it they way they got rid of balewind. It warps the value of all sorts of things (e.g. the revenant probably costs 75 points more than it otherwise would simply because spellportal exists) and I really don't think anybody enjoys the kind of gameplay it promotes. "Oh yay how cool, Kairos sniped my hero for 6MW from outside unbind range!" or "wicked, Nagash just one-tapped my Mawkrusha from 19" away" or "awesome, teclis/revenant did 30+ MWs over a doublet turn" said nobody, ever. Even when you're on the dealing end it feels kinda dirty, especially against an army that just doesn't have answers for it. One of those "the strong get stronger, the weak get weaker" sort of effects that I don't think really improve the game. Put another way, if spellportal had never existed, would anyone have thought "hey, what this game really needs is a way to boost the range of super powerful spells that are balanced around being short range?"
My wife and I played our first AoS game this weekend. We noticed that objective holding is supposed to be 6" from the center. The rings on your board appear to be 3" rings. So two questions, are those 3" rings or am I just seeing it incorrectly. If they are 3" is there a rules override or errata turning them into 3" instead of 6"?
They are indeed only 3" Objectives. I reckon they just measure 3" from the ring is my guess :) I also own 3" Objectives my self, reason be they are easier to move or remove where rules command it, and they doesn't take up much visual space. I can't stand the 6" "see through" ones.. They ruin my armies at war fantasy :P

Thanks for the thoughts on the clear objective markers. We were really liking how those looked on the board and thinking of something similar, but at 6" they would be pretty crazy. So we were also thinking of the clear ones. Or maybe a clear 3" ring around something like that. I like your idea of just measure out three inches from the edge.
In this case, it was a miscommunication - Ryan didn't realize the objective markers weren't the full size (he plays a lot of 40k too which uses different sizes).

Idk if the points work out but I've had a lot of success with war shrines lately. Maybe switch out the brute for it?

objectives have a diameter of 6 inches. Radius is 3". if they were 6" radius that means the objectives would make up over half the board lmao
