- Hey Goodfellas,
It's time to compare these two Pilot Fountain Pens. The Pilot Custom Urushi and the Pilot Custom 845 Urushi. Both feature a black Urushi Body and Cap, 18kt Gold Nib and the typical Pilot Converter.

Which one would you choose between the Pilot Custom Urushi and the Pilot Custom 845 Urushi?
both and the emperor too
@@Cortesevasive thank you so much for sharing your feedback!
@@tisanai yep the Namiki Emperor always fits in every collection 🤣
I prefer the Custom Urushi. BTW, do you find the broad nib of the Custom Urushi comparable to European broad nibs or is it more like European medium nib?
@@omeryehezkely3096 i would say the Broad of Custom Urushi is comparable to European Broads.
I find it a surprisingly easy question. My answer between these two is....the one that I have! (845). Yes, I'm tempted by that larger size (Custom Urushi) and nib but the law of diminishing returns applies
Thanks for sharing your opinion 🙏🏼
My fave is the Custom Urushi in Medium/Fine! Amazing writer & I still giggle every time I see the nib when I uncap it 🤣
Yes i can imagine that with the Nib Giggleing 🤣
Good to see you again Samu! Love the pens, and that polo is incredible!
Thank you Kuba!!
So far just 845, Eventually both. Pilots are so good that its worth to collect them all xD
Great advice and feedback! Thank you!
I bought the 845 in vermilion about two months ago. It is an incredible pen, which is a wonderful writing instrument well worth the price. While not inexpensive, if you love high quality fountain pens, then the 845 may be the pen to add to your collection.
Totally agreed! Enjoy your 845
I totally agree.!! Smoothness 🔥
🤩🤩🤩
Great pen but even greater shirt 😁
Haha really glad you like my shirt! 😂
I have small hands. The Custom Urushi would be too big for me. I handled a friend's pen, so I can say this with certainty. The 845, while oversized (for me), is still comfortable.
custom baby!
Cool one bro! 😎
I've owned both. The Pilot Custom Urushi was simply too large for me. I sold it. The Pilot Custom 845 (M) Vermillion is one of my favorite pens. You honestly can't go wrong with either.
Thanks for sharing your feedback Ron!
Imagine a custom urushi with maki-e finish it would be dope
100%!!!
Have you had your pilot long?has the urushi discolored?I'm thinking of getting the 845 in black or vermillion, but am afraid the colour will change.i guess I could always put the 845 nib in an 823 should it happen.
Urushi has the property of “living” therefore could always be. Definitely will not happen on the Black Urushi!
@@SamuelNaldi means with black one no problem
@@vinaynagdev3774 it shouldn’t change in color
Pilot Custom Urushi is definitely a Must-Have!
Absolutely!
Nice comparison
I m for the 845!
Thank you Dear!
I think in terms of size comparisons, I would acquire a MB 146 with a PC845, as I don't have a set of giant mittts for hands.
Beautiful pens. Would have love if the camera had been better position to have a good look while you were writing
We have improved this now!
I prefer the bigger one 😎
it's a cool one indeed!
I bought the custom urushi in black with a medium nib….I loved it so much that I had to get a vermillion with a medium fine nib 😅
That’s the only right thing to do 😂👏🏼
Hot stuff!
Thanks bro!
Maybe this is prejudice, but I would expect such a major pen to be a piston filler, not cartridge-fill.
Custom Urushi
Thanks for sharing your Feedback
Good review. I have two of each of these pens --- both in black and vermillion. I love them ... even more than the European flagships from the likes of Visconti, Pelikan, and Montblanc.
Thank you for your feedback
Absolutely! I feel the same
Your signature is bad ass
Thanks Michael!
🤩🤩👍
🙏🏼
what is the value of the pilot custom urushi with delivery in Brazil?
1380 CHF excl. VAT, incl. shipping with DHL to Brazil my dear. Get in touch with us at info@styleofzug.ch if you’d like to discuss details
Too thick
Thanks for sharing your opinion!
Told you before: You are testing fountainpens like they are dip pens. You are neglecting the feed, which is essential to fountain pens! Fountain pens are not quills!!!! Cutting corners doesn't create valuable TH-cam content!
I do agree that the performance of feed in a fountain pen is an important part of the experience, but also we have to keep in mind Samuel is not demonstrating his personal collection. He is in retail business and these pens are offered to public to purchase. Once a pen is inked up, for all intensive purposes, it becomes a used pen. What you see him do is exactly what you would experience at any MB or high line pen shop if you ask to try out a pen.
Thank you 1pashar!
@@1pashar wouldnt dipping leave ink residue?
@@Cortesevasive Since the ink is not drawn in, the inter parts will remain clean. The rest can be rinsed off. There hasn’t been a single occasion my request to try out a fountain pen has been refused at a pen shop and that includes high end factory authorized dealers.
@@1pasharthe capillary action actually brings a lot of ink into the feed, so even though it’s dipped it’s technically gone into the internals of the section
