CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Thomas (Pierce Brosnan) and his look-a-likes continue to allude the detectives in pursuit.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
When a priceless Monet painting is stolen from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the police find themselves wondering which world-class art thief pulled the job. What they don't know is that the thief wasn't a professional, but an amateur. Thomas Crown (Pierce Brosnan) was born poor but made his way through Oxford on a boxing scholarship. With his sharp sense for business and ruthless ambition, Crown has become a self-made billionaire; but despite his wealth and power, he still seeks new challenges, and he steals art not for the profits but for the sheer excitement. However, as fun as art theft might be, it's still illegal, and investigator Catherine Banning (Rene Russo) is brought in to track down the culprit. Certain clues point to Crown, so Banning introduces herself into Crown's social circle. Police detective Michael McCann (Denis Leary) warns Banning against getting too close to Crown. She takes McCann's suggestion lightly -- until she finds herself falling for the suave thief. The Thomas Crown Affair was adapted from the popular 1968 caper film of the same name starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway; Dunaway appears in the new film as Crown's analyst.

This movie had me fantasizing about being a professional art thief as a kid.
Being so good I could tell the police what i planned on doing before doing it.
Ya, when we're young we all have such wild hope's and dreams.
So what do you do now. Do scam phone calls?
@@DivineAtheistWannabe Lmao "scam phone calls" you're weak for that comment haha
To this day, I still walk into museums and in each gallery try to chose which art piece I’d steal. Makes for a great game with students
One of pierce brosnans best films
..
Agree!
Director John McTiernans too.
Thd Matador??
A very good example of a remake doing justice to the original. Excellent movie.
The best actual real con I ever heard from a TV report, was a thief tripping the alarm to cause the patrol to arrive only to find no thief & nothing taken. He did that two more times that night & they shut off the alarm thinking it wasn't working right. Then w/alarm off he cut thru the roof, dropped down & took priceless art. Pretty smart.
😎💥👍
that was an actual movie plot too with Audrey Hepburn
@@SL-zw5nj which movie?
@@PrinceOfCola " How to steal a million" with Peter O' Toole.
This movie is so underrated
༄༄U are right
... On God !!! ...
My favorite movie ever ❤❤❤❤
No the original with Steve Mc queen its underrated movie or the remake with pierce Brosnan are not bad 😊😊😊😊😊
Denis Leary was AWESOME in this movie, great casting seriously
One of the few times i have seen a song fit the scene so like a glove....just perfect !!!
Bought the album because of this song and ended up loving the entire thing, especially Everything is Never Quite Enough, which didn't stand in the movie as much as Sinnerman did.
2021 and I still won’t give up hope for a Thomas Crown sequel.
Why just watch White Collar lol
They're doing *another* remake... this time with Michael B Jordan.
@@AlyssMa7rin of course they would be. They need to tick a box.
Why would you a remake from Thomas crown? It gives 2 movies the original with Steve Mc queen and this Remake with pierce Brosnan 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
Henry Cavill or Christian Bale would be perfect for this role.
One of the rare occasions when a remake surpasses the original.
I had to make the likes add up 69...I am so mature.
Oceans 11 and True Grit also surpass the original... In my opinion.
Lmao no
I would suggest that, although the premise in both the films is the same, they are so different in every other way that I can watch both without making a comparison. So, I agree this version is very good - but I enjoy equally the McQueen version. Just my take on this.
@@theofarmmanager267 I get that. TH-cam is all about opinions and all opinions are welcome.
@@Rumpelstyltskin I appreciate your original comment. It is, as you say, an opinion. But more importantly, it was expressed politely and without any dogmatic words. As it happens, I agree that remakes rarely do justice to the original; too often it seems an excuse to make a new film cheaply by using an old idea.
One of the best on foot chase scenes.. 100% tops the original
Some scenes just elevate their films so majestically and brilliantly
Thomas Crown organized the first flash mob. Change my mind.
Omg when he walked in with the hat I instantly thought “oh flash mob” then thought “wait no cell phones no way”. But you are right it was the first one by god
Cierto 👍🏽💯💯
This movie made me hear sinnerman for the first time and I’m so
Thankful. So many Rene Russo Frankie faison films together but this one is my favorite
"Sir what do we do!?"
"Just start arresting people."
POLICE WORK AT ITS FINEST lol
Rather appropriate right now...
More like detain jeez :)
They are in a precious artwork museum...I think can stop people. They are not Miranda-Rights reading. “Detaining” would have been a better word, but not understood by all.
Hiding in plain sight. Masterful.

I used to follow him and his Attire ! Best Damm dresser ever and best bond period .
Just seen this movie for the first time. Very impressed and really really loved this scene in particular.... brilliantly done.
Indeed
This is for me THE moment, THE soundtrack I remember !
Superb song/music from Nina Simone
I just push the volume now to listen and close my eyes ...
AGREE....an all-time fave soundtrack of mine. IMHO, it made the movie
What's the name of the song?
@@paulokello5981 Nina Simone - Sinnerman
I will always think of this scene when I hear that iconic song, though it was also a good choice of music to feature in the "O.J.: Made in America" documentary trailer
This was an excellent film! It left me hanging on the edge of my seat as to what was going to happen next. If you like Pierce and Rene they are at their peak in this performance. Highly recommend for an evening flick!!!!! 👍
Brosnan's best movie outside 007.
The same goes for After the Sunset
@@stefanmovieflixtomasi yes right and the foreigner with Jackie Chan it's or not bad very underrated movie 😊
This song is so perfect for this scene
he editing, camera work, acting, writing, directing, soundtrack ... pure oneness
This is my favorite part of the movie.
This movie made me visit this painting by Monet.. Venice at dusk. The most amazing thing I was studying abroad for Uni at the time, and found out this painting was only an hours drive away from my uni!
Y'all can have 007 I'll take Thomas Crown. Lol 😂🤣😭
Still remember went to see this movie ! Best Bond ever !
I remember seeing this in the theaters and everyone was laughing their asses off haha.
"It's a love story between a pair of crocodiles.." director John McTiernan said of this film.
McTiernan also directed Die Hard and Predator.
He said that on another TH-cam clip. Sums it up, in my opinion, and makes sense of the story.
I think the 2 movies of the Thomas Crown affair were magnificent
Class never goes out if style.
Sing it Nina!!!! RIP🌹 27 🌹
i watched this movie high and I feel in love everything was perfect
I just loved both Thomas Crown Affairs !!
Everyone in my family has portrait of the everyday businessman because of this movie
brosnan and russo were fantastic!
I came here for Sinnerman, but after reading the comments I’m going to watch the movie.
No!!! wtf!! You haven't watched it yet? Go finish it and comeback.
I hope you got a chance to watch
Love it cuz it shows he stole it just for the thrill, not for any practical reason....although wouldn't the watercolors running down have damaged the painting, in addition to the water damage once it's all come off and the sprinklers are still going
No, it would have been just fine and easy to be restored to its original state because it was oil on canvas. There is another weakness worse than that though. The original Pissarro's painting The Artist's Garden at Eragny is oil on canvas, too. And the fake painting that Crown donated to the museum obviously had to be a watercolor one for the trick at the end to work. There is no way the experts would not have noticed the difference between an oil and a watercolor painting and they would've known it was a fake right away.
@@elliebakalova1239 so it's only good for the payoff and not the setup. Thanks, dude :)
@@brentage5000 well... It works well in the movie and make people go 'wow!!!', so I'm fine with it. While the movie was entertaining, it would not have been possible in real life but who cares? 😃 I love art heist movies and I enjoy the idea of someone pulling off the perfect one so I was pissed at first (it's too obviously impossible) but then I was like - big deal, it's an exciting movie with a thrilling ending.
@@elliebakalova1239 Actually the people at the museum wouldn't examine it if he already had documentation stating it was already verified as real. He could easily provide them as either faked or if in fact he really did own the Pissaro painting and simply showed them the paperwork for the real one. Not to mention they wouldn't have any reason to suspect it was a forgery given who was loaning it to them. So it's entirely possible they just put the painting in there without questioning it.
@@ReaverLordTonus Yes I was thinking the same thing. If a wealthy collector was leading out a supposedly priceless work of art, I doubt the art experts would insult that collector's generosity by testing to see of the painting was a legit original.
this is one of me fav scenes in this movie. that bowler hat painting was almost my f.b. profile pic but some one else nabbed it first.. :P damn bowler hats everywhere lol
One of my favourite movie scenes 👍🏻
When you love this movie, what it's with the original with Steve Mc queen?????
best scene in the entire movie
Dont forghet the dance part..
Another beautiful movie, from the Steve McQueen collection.
"Let's play ball".
Completely impossible but good scene
I’d like to be Thomas Crown.
This is an excellent Movie, a modern classic !👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🙋🏽♀️❤ Adding Nina Simone was genius !
A great and interesting film. I love it.
Super. I thought the song was cinnamon, but thanks to the comments, sinnerman makes more sense. Love this scene. Both movies were awesome. 💙 T.E.N.
Great film.
Yes...Remington Bond acquisitions outwit so called detectives.
Very nice play on words. RS and JB are his two best characters.

Perfect movie

This is how I get out of spending holidays with my extended family.
The corona is doing that for you now xD
Iconic Scene!!!!
I’ve never seen an art museum busier than Penn Station at rush hour.
1:38 Illegal search and seizure.
I've always wondered about the scene where he puts the painting into that briefcase that folds over. How was that a thing?
Plot hole, or something from Q branch.
he addressed it at an Instagram live, I remember he said that he did mention to the director that it was weird but they didn't really seem to mind about the detail
Custom made equipment
I cry this is so simply amazing
Such a good scene!
In some ways I feel like Thomas Crown. At least in the sense that I am loner. I hope I find my Rene Russo someday.
Wishes from my side.
Russo was 45 at the time, and a devout Christian. I'm a Christian too...and to be honest, she was unbelievably smoking hot!
Such a stylish robbery and getaway 🎞
This movie is best ..... really awesome .
Met Pierce last year, who is Remington Steels, who is James Bond.
Super , genial, me encanta esta parte de la pelicula 😁
Hallo, super, Herrn Crown. !
People I can understand, that you find the Thomas crown affair with pierce Brosnan not bad or the original performance from Thomas crown with Steve Mc Queen, it's very very very underrated and better I find it greetings from Germany 😊
Wanderful movies and music 🎶,
Classic!!!
These lyrics tho 💕💕💕💕
Deceptive Theatricals ....... Power agents to the initiated.

HOLD THE LINE.....🚛 FREEDOM TRUCKERS
QUEEN!👽
I loved this movie, even though they cheated a bit with Crown "folding" the painted into his case. I'll presume that the original painting was coated with some protective agent before being painted over. Otherwise, the water didn't just reveal the painting, it would have also ruined it. Hmm, although, if it's an oil painting ... anyway, loved it, loved the homage to the original and many fun supporting roles.
great movie
Smooth criminal

I swear the truckers took inspiración from this scene to troll the cops with some people carrying empty gas cans, while others have full gas cans. Love it!!!! Freeedddommmmmm, let's go Canadians!!!! 🇨🇦
If they'd've just reviewed the security footage from earlier then they'd've seen thomas crown place his briefcase under the bench.
Really nice.
Play ball!!!
A flash mob before flash mobs were a thing
This was a great movie in its own right, but I prefer the original version, because, well, no one was cooler than Steve McQueen. Ever.
Recognize the beige / tan jacket Crown is wearing? He was getting fitted for it by his tailor in his office with the rest of his coworkers in the room. He was hiding and planing this heist in plain sight.
Absolument magnifique 😊🎈
SHEER BRILLIANCE ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Can't help thinking if only they'd locked down the building...
William Page Could they do that? No fire or theft or alarms tripped until he did.
Besides if they locked it down my guess is he would have escaped via one of his doubles.
Do you know how massive The Met is? It's over twice the size of the British Museum. Locking it down isn't easy. Also, it's normally packed with people.
Since he pulled the fire alarm wouldn’t that be like the police locking a ton of people in a building that might be on fire?
The Met is big!
That’ll work until the fire alarm goes off.
Then you’ve got a locked building with a lot of people in it that might be on fire.
i love this movie but the only thing that i didnt get was how the original painting did not get ruined when the fake was washed off of it? ya know watimsayin
I'm not a painter, but I believe they say that the fake was painted in watercolor (like the painting done with the dogs at poker), over the original oil painting. So I think the water would wash out the watercolor paints, but not the oils? Just a guess.
The "fake" painting was actually water paint while the original was oil. Once water gets on the waterpaint it washes off but doesn't hurt the original oil painting underneath.
Can be paint on watercolor on top on glass protective layer....like this protecting completely the old paint
2:55 Irony
How?
@@monetizeandsubscribeg.m.da4430 it was the complete and exact opposite of "missing" ; Irony
This is a good movie. It doesn't surpass the first one that was made. They are 2 different stories with different actors. The olny simalarties are money was stolen and a painting was stolen

Does anyone know the name of the leather briefcase that the bowler hat people use? I don't mean the one for the painting, that is different. The one which all of the bowler hat people all have.
