    Hello!
There are lots of Amazigh villages across Tunisia.
Like Matmata and Tamezret near Gabes.
Takrouna North of Sousse i think
An Amazigh village built on a top of a big rock.
Kesra ( Siliana ) almost 1100 m above sea level
Chawach & Toukabar ( Medjez El Bab )
    Tamerza & Chibika ( Tozeur )
And near by you have the Chaine of Thaljah near Gafsa
The oldest city in Tunisia almost
    12000 years old
    The first Amazigh civilisation
    The Capsian culture 💪
Cities like Mahdia. Monastir Sousse Bizerte, Beja, Kef…….
And you don’t miss the national parks they are nice.
    Enjoy Tunisia.
    Look after your self.
    ❤❤❤

As a tunisian from Sfax, I was camping with a group of friends in Ain Drahem on 31st December 2022. It was amazing experience . We also visited the feidja national park! It was so beautiful 😍 you will clim a mountain and see the green forest from above!
My advice is to really be careful from the sloppy roads. But it's totally worth visiting!
Also the military are all over the place near the borders which makes you feel safe ❤️

Thank you for the advice and your experience, we are excited to head up there! We are waiting for the snow/rain to leave as we do not like the cold! We're currently in Mahdia and it is lovely and warm. We are excited to see the forest and mountains! Hopefully you like our next videos too!

the heads of animals is quite shocking for europeen people and that's understandable. But in our culture is very important to know if the meat is fresh or not. So when the butcher hangs the head of the animal outside is giving a lot of information about the kind of fresh meat he is selling (cow's, goat's, camel's or sheep's meat), or is it male or female and how healthy and old it's (by looking at the teeth). And with all that aside, we have meals prepared with the head and the legs, so it is for selling as well as the meat. Hope you enjoy your journey.

My husband is from Djerba, so Aslema, our daughters first impression of seeing a cows head and legs hanging up with parsley in its mouth was awe mummy they didn't let him finish his dinner before cutting his head off, she was 4 years old, we still laugh about it now and she is almost 30 years old now x

    • @courtsandmeeks
      @courtsandmeeks  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you for the explanation, we completely understand why and it makes sense! We have been removed from seeing this in the west but knowing why and that it is to show freshness is logical. We are more used to it now and don’t have a problem with it at all, we just want to show it so that people that visit here know what to expect but it is important to say why. Thank you for this comment my friend

@courtsandmeeks you said you visited Djerba and saw the abandoned hotels. Well it's very sad that this has happened to the country. A throw back to my first ever visit prior to my marriage to my Tunisian husband, in 1992 Djerba had approximately 26 hotels on the island, djerbians were allowed to use the beaches with the tourists, we swam in the pools to although we were not guests. We also could join in with the hotel entertainment until the hotels sold out to major organisations. Djerbians were only allowed to swim on a certain part of the beach then. Since 1992 100's of hotels were built leaving less beach space.for the locals. Also it was a strict policy that I could not hold hands with my fiance or he would be in trouble with the police, going back on the bus I had to wear my wedding ring as I had a small wedding out there but not a legal one. I hope this makes sense? The police were much stricter back then but since the revolution much has changed.
Back in 1992 women did not drive but they do now.
Djerba and the South of Tunisia are very traditional where as in the North, especially Tunis they're not, yes they abide by the Koran but it is just different.
You will see lots of cats in the country, these are acceptable in a home where as a dog is not and considered dirty. In 2018 we rescued a pup, we searched high and low for its mum but she was not found, he is with us today in the UK. The police will shoot stray dogs, unless they're tied to a tree to guard a property. I can go on but Tunisia is my second home and I love the people there. Safe travels guys x

Also about the "Road in Ain drahhem" I want to advice you to drive slowly and pay attention very well especially when you have a big sized van like that, the roads are very steep, with sharp turns in the mountain, very zigzagy, but it's extremely beautiful and worth it.

    Hi Guys
A subject came up on the radio today about travel insurance,
It turns out that most companies only give travel
Health Insurance to cover you for only 31 days abroad at any one time,
Where do you get you travel insurance from please?
    Loving the channel thanks

    • @courtsandmeeks
      @courtsandmeeks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hey! thanks for watching the live. We have backpacker insurance so it covers us for longer periods of time and our specific policy is worldwide :) It's a good alternative to the traditional holiday packages. One company we have used before is Big Cat Travel (but never had to get medical care so can't vouch for whether they are good). Also heard of Safety Wing Nomad Insurance from others who might be worth checking out.

    Don’t listen to the media.
    Travel any where you want.
Only avoid the extreme South not bcoz of terrorist but some protesters did block oil rig few years ago and since then they blocked that area showing in the foreign office
Ovoid the Extreme portion West of Kasserine near Chambi Mountain and Jabel Samama i think.

The second background was that the soccer player Messi is called goat also because of his abilities. And you drive the mountains up like Messi plays soccer... Even snow above 800m up North
Places like : Ain-Draham. Sakiet SidiYousef. Thala, Makthar, Kesra.

Tunisia and North Africa don’t have any Arabic roots

I suggest you not to go to Ain Draham and to Tabarka !!
The towns are safe but not the ways to reach that towns !!
You van can be detected by bad people in a town and your return can be dangerous. Please leave it for your next trip to Tunisia when the country will be safer than actually
Try to use highways (eastern of the country = coast ways) and the southern touristic places (Douz Tozeur Nefta)
Salakta Mahdia Sousse El Jem Nabeul Hammamet are good places Korbous and el Haouaria too but not touristic !! At Korbous you can visit a thermal place with hot water and you can swim down the hill with the mix of Mediterranean sea and this hot water
For El Haouaria it is the top east of Africa and if you have nice weather you can see Sicily.
Bizerte (cap angela) is the top of the African continent you can visit it but the road is not fine (3 km bad road)
Bizerte is a safe place too
Have a nice visit to the country and be safe !!
Food: try the maklouba in the south of the country and plat Tunisien or sandwiche Tunisien (fast food), kaftaji plate or sandwiche everywhere in the country !! Fricassé is a little bread cooked in the oil and in it they put potatoes olives eggs thuna and harissa (it is very tasty and popular)
