Mounting a spare wheel crane on the Unimog

Chad buys a Harbor Freight truck bed crane and mounts it to the fire truck body so he can put the spare wheel on the roof.

Good job Chad - perfectly adequate for the weekend trip. If you wanted to strengthen it a bit for lifting weight “sideways” you could extend the plate and angle iron of your upper bracket to the centre of the roof and drill through to the box section which appeared to run down the centre line of the roof. Hope that makes sense 👍

Excellent work! Beyond the wheel hoisting, it will be interesting to see if the crane comes in handy for random unintended purposes while out on the road. I'm sure it will.
