- Hey guys, I'm back with another hot take that isn't that much of an hot take. It's no surprise to anyone currently who plays this game that there is a lot that Bushiroad could be doing to make the game more accessible. From promos pricegating people out of their favorite decks in standard to a certain card in premium that should have been distributed better, it seems like things are getting worse before they get better. In this video I'm going to attempt to explain this idea that's been in the back of my mind and many other people's minds lately and answer the question, "What happened Bushi?". This is also a follow up video to something that AlexCFV recently posted up so if you're interested in the original video I'll provide links further in this description and in the outro.

The funny thing about this, it's 'supposively' cheap here in SEA but because people based their prices of western sites like TCG player, its going to hella expensive here as well.
Yea but I doubt it'll be as expensive
@@dragnoa.shadow It's more or less going to be around $35 here. Half of what western sites list it. But it's still hella expensive. Just glad I managed to get back my PR copy if I ever want to play the format.
@Wslasher please make a rant vid
Appreciate the shout out my man! Sad that this has to be discussed, but I think everyone should put their best foot forward in pushing back on recent practices 😔
Facts
You’re right and you should say it. The fact that this set has over 300 cards in it but only 3 per pack is also ridiculous.
The fact that they put the Guardian Shield as a box topper but not the actual card that generates it alongside it, even if it was a common promo version, is absurd.
It literally feels like they were like “we need one card in here that everyone wants so people will buy lots of our product to get it.”
Bushi put a massive entry cost to Premium and it will absolutely cut down on the amount of P players there are.
As for staple promos, yeah, the previous director was like “we hear you and we’re going to stop making staple promos.”
Moment he was gone? Bushi brought back staple promos.
Staple promos aren’t as much of an issue in Japan. You maybe have to annoyingly buy 4 copies of a magazine or some other product sometimes.
Japan has like multiple tournaments every day from the multitude of shop tournaments there and they don’t have distribution issues and they mainly play Standard.
Here? Tournaments might be like once a week in your area and the format might be different each time if they support multiple formats. And sometimes promo packs only last a month.
So yeah, definitely a major disconnect between Japan and English side.
It's stupidity at its finest lol
i have been hearing about these stuff about promo shortages, promo that are used as staples in deck and now history collection
everyone who addressed this was super right, including you
the game right now feels like what V is a long time ago when it came to staples, ridiculous pricing of cards
history collection on the other hand shouldnt be the thing that its supposed to be
they could have done the v collection format guaranteed clan pack and have 2 volumes separating them into 12 clans per volume so that it get too cramped with the cards(254 commons, christ what is bushi thinking?) and have both harmonics AND the 20k shield token as box topper
Even though I bought my harmonics(the really old promo) rather early does not change the fact that they underprinted that card, that card really needs a reprint even if the premium playerbase is quite small, everyone in premium does need it now due to how the powerscaling is in premium.
It is also quite hard to procure those said staple promos + harmonics now and it quite boggles my mind on why bushi even want to do that in the first place
if i recall correctly most ygo decks ive played didnt really need promo cards now, they are just usually inside packs
I wonder if me switching to ygo is a good thing since OCG english will be coming out a few months by now and i want to play heroes(most likely konami will make a starter deck for this), I dont know what the ruling about using this on actual OCG(japanese text) but presumably I can still use ocg english when i play with people using OCG jp cards
since this is konami jp we are talking about here, konami actually does have good press when it came to ocg unlike tcg sometimes with the random rarity bumps
I saw this commented about magic but it's wild how "maybe this format isnt for you" becomes "maybe this game isnt for you."
Somehow this only just appeared on my feed but very good video.
We need more content creators like you that use their platform for the game they like and challenge the company when needed.
A playerbase increasingly concerned for moral and ethics is what the game needs more of.
Again, remember when there was a lot of C and R cards that were actually staples? Yeah, they're mostly gone now :/
What are you talking about Abundance Fairy with its conditional +4k boost and extremely rare +10k boost from set 12 will be a staple in every deck
@@windwaker0rules okay, but I said they're mostly gone. And I wish this was more widespread
@@Zarugoza5969 Yeah we need more staples like Abundance Fairy
Agree with this video. Cause right now I'm taking a break from it cause some cards are just too expensive like I'm trying to build my lianorn deck to get ready for set 13. Nope!! Resonance Dragon is like 25+ per copies and lianorn promo is almost 20$ per copies and you need a playset for both I believe. So that like at 200+$ for 8 cards cause your not including tax and you have to worried about set 13 prices from lianorn herself and the set's staples.
I feel I might visit my LGS to sell off the playset of Harmonics Messiah (original version) I possess...
It's gotten even worse with buyouts
Yep
Just print the promos in the set, how hard is it? There is not enough to supply and it causing people to quit the game over stupidly expensively staple promos.
The western world isn’t Japan, not everyone lives in train/walking distance of a local card shop.
This isn’t making the tournament scene more active, you are losing customers.
It’s not hard, you don’t need a business/economics/data science degree to understand this.
Barriers to Entry, in anything, sucks balls.

yea givin that claret sword HAS A 40 DOLLAR GRAD 1 PROMO
