  • As part of the National Geographic and Rolex Perpetual Planet Everest Expedition, a team of scientists and Sherpa guides sets out to collect information about glacial change in the Himalayas. By extracting ice cores from the highest glacier in the world, the team has begun to uncover details about climate change that have - until now - been hidden in this hard-to-reach ice. The National Geographic Society uses the power of science, exploration, education, and storytelling to illuminate and protect the wonder of our world. Learn more at www.natgeo.org

      I learnt that we need to think, explore and learn about climate change as much as possible. There are people out there who are working really hard to learn about such issues. So why can't we take small steps to resolve this issue

    As a Nepali citizen it was our responsibility to research and come up with the solutions to protect the resources that is geographically gifted to us. Sadly, we are not strong politically, technically and economically. I'm glad that folks out there from different geographical footprints are carrying these beautiful tests on behalf of us. I can't express my thanks since you deserve more than that. Thanks to the Sherpas who equally made the journey possible. They are the real Superheros amidst the threat the Everest poses on humans.

      @@leisuretime7417 True and that's actually sad. Nature gifted us everything and it's really sad that we didn't have a single person in political power capable of preserving it. Nothing as Mt Everest seem to matter to today's politicians. All they care is for money and power.

Base camp seems like a busy place and I heard it's polluted sadly all the bodies that were left on the mountain route. May they rest in peace. Ultimately what their learning gives us more insight than ever before.

      *I live in Nepal and thanks for this good comment*
      Well you are partly correct but nowadays the local government of Khumbu region has started various programmes to aware the "literate" foreigners to not throw garbage and also we have schemes like1kg garbage=Rs.100 and so..
      We started getting the pollution just some 50 to 60 years ago but now we are trying to minimize that too..
      And about the dead bodies; as far as possible when the message is recieved by Nepal Police or any other authority; the dead bodies are taken out and sent to the respective countries. One of the recent ones was of a Korean group(May they rest in peace)
      And sure; avalanches can be one of the most pathetic deaths in the entire world;I think it's better not to explain all of that suffocation and every other torture..
      But still Nepal is a beautiful country.
      If you ever wanna come here; you can.(Edit:you are most welcome)
      Nepal's Trivia:
      1. 8 out of world's tallest mountains(Annapurna is a must to go place)
      2. The park situated at the highest height.
      3. Diversity of land from 60m to 8848m
      4. Magnificient monuments that are made from single stones(Krishna Mandir in Patan) and single wood(Kasthamandap)
      5. Hundreds of caves; including one South Asia's largest one
      6. Lakes(Fewa,Rara,Begnas,etc){freshwater lake}
      7. Frozen Lakes(Gokyo,Chho Rolpa){You can play ice hockey too!!}
      8. Hiking and trekking is Nepal's other name
      9. 6600+ freshwater rivers with aquatic life in mostly all of them
      10. Dense tropical,sub tropical ,coniferous forests(Pinecones all over the route{especially in October})
      11. Any tall structure that is green; is not considered a mountain no matter how tall it is; it must cross at least 5000 meters.
      12. GoodFood(Dal-Bhaat,Momo,Khajuri,Jeri swari) ,Bon fire,River beaches(Sukute Beach,SunKoshi Beach)
      13.Small Isles(Koshi Tappu,Taal Barahi)
      14.Pagoda styled temples everywhere
      15.Stone carvings everywhere.
      16.Metals like copper,silver and gold might surprise you in the streets of Kathmandu alongside where temples are built.
      17.Stupas and Churches

      19.Springs and waterfalls(Hyatung,Tindhara,Devi)
      20.If you find anything that I have mentioned here to be untrue after coming here; I will do anything that you say..

    I've been "woke" for years about environmental concerns. Many of us have! But its a cold, hard fact that people have had less impact overall than corporations and companies do. C&C plan and execute plans. It starts at the top, not the bottom. And the top will never stop their selfish greed.

    • @1light4love
      @1light4love 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      But we can stop supporting them.
      From our diets, to our deeds... one person may not appear to make a difference, but in the end, that's all this world is-- and there are millions of us, each one person-- if you stop shining your truth, it'll be one less impact for change, and we need every Woke Heart out there-- shine, so that others may see the light as well.
      It all comes down to choice.
      What will you choose?

    Yesterday Azerbaijan attacked with missile rocked that named Scut-Elbrus by "Nagorno-Karabakh" or Armenian army while innocent people are in their sleep. I call all the community or press to see this wild and anti-human attacks.

    The species/sapiens goes to so much trouble to prove/disprove ideas rather than acknowledge things of benefit and distraction in itself. It’s very unfortunate it wastes so much time just to monopolize and capitalize time and space of others. I’m sure these people mean well, but this is Noah’s Ark, people will believe what they want to believe.
