    Yes! I was drafting some pocket patterns for my jeans, but that section where the jeans' pocket meets the side seam confused my brain for some reason. I thought, "oh no, am I going to have to unpick the side seams to do this the way the manufacturer did?!". And I am so glad I made myself stop and search this up on TH-cam, because you took away my anxiety and disappointment with your simple clip and sew method! I don't know why that didn't enter my mind! But I am so glad I found your video!
    Thank you for taking the time to make and post this!❤❤❤ you have saved my mental health today. 😅
    And I just wanna add as an aside, I'm not normally a tattoo person, but yours are works of art.

    A roll of that double sided basting tape would have come in handy for this project and no pins to stick yourself. Thank you for making this video it is a big help for me to replace torn pockets in blue jeans.

    Thank you so much! I love your attention to detail. I don't even put that much stuff in my pockets but mine are so short that my Chapstick keeps falling out. So annoying!

    Thank you for making this so easy to follow! At first I wondered why not sew this on a machine but now I see it would be a nightmare to sew it in place that way. What's a good thread for this? My usual bottom-shelf cotton thread seems to tangle every time I pull a stitch through.

      Waxing your thread should eliminate that problem! ❤️

    I need to make my husband’s pocket wider on one pair of his shorts… I’m going to try this technique from the side and then attach it to the top near the waistband. Thanks for the idea.

    Good video BUT @11:51 you show the stitching you did. Was it by hand or by sewing machine. I think it would be awkward to be able to use the machine. Maybe there is a trick to that ? Oops, the description implies only hand stitching. Thank You.

      By hand is definitely best - I have no idea how I would be able to get down into a pocket like that on a sewing machine! I did mine by hand.

    I found this tutorial a little confusing because she sometimes skips ahead and I think there are a couple of places that she actually skips a step at least doesn’t show it in the video and I got very confused. I also think that a lot of the tailoring details are admirable but totally unnecessary for this purpose. French seams are always nice and they’re easy to do, but creating these pockets with no visible raw seam is overkill, unless you are going to turn your jeans inside out and admire your handiwork. I recommend this tutorial as a much simpler choice: th-cam.com/video/DeBAyAl-KOE/w-d-xo.html

    But why wouldn't you show how you sewed it on your sewing machine?

    • @aitchdawg
      @aitchdawg ปีที่แล้ว

      For me, sewing in the kind of tight quarters that a jeans pocket requires, is super awkward and difficult. Hand sewing allows maximum flexibility, maneuverability, and adaptability in the moment. Imnsho everyone should develop basic hand sewing skills!

    I get women don't need larger pockets since their hands are smaller, but most of the ones made in the 3rd millennium (and a good deal made since the 70s too) seem comically undersized. Forget having enough room for a wallet and a hand, I don't think even 1/3 of them can fit their wearer's hand.

      Most of the jeans I’ve gotten recently have, I kid you not, two inch deep pockets. A woman can’t even carry a tampon to the bathroom in that without it potentially falling out along the way. The only womens pockets that are deep enough to hold anything are the ones in cutoff shorts - because, of course, those need to be long enough to stick out the bottom of the legs 🙄

      It's to force women to buy overpriced bags. How many women would still buy bags if they had enough pocket to carry their phone, keys and wallet?

    • @Kendrubbin
      @Kendrubbin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      "since their hands are smaller" is so funny considering that that is such an arbitrarily stupid way to measure pocket size, as opposed to the size of things you use pockets for such as phones or keys. Also assumes that women's hands are always going to be small, which is very much not the case lmao

    You cut it short. Okay. But where you really failed was NOT demonstrating the actual sewing on the machine. Epic fail. I'll look for another video.

    • @stellworkstudio4391
      @stellworkstudio4391  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I did not sew it on the machine. I did it by hand. I couldn’t figure out how to adequately film myself doing that.

      @@stellworkstudio4391 I understand. It's not an easy fix. I have at least 5 more shorts and capris to work on and I keep putting it off. Be blessed.

      Thank you for sharing this. I need to do this to every single jeans I own because all my pockets are so tiny that not even my Key Fob fits inside. WHY? WHY??? WHY can’t us ladies just have pockets like the Men’s jeans? It’s so unjustified!

    • @ggie39
      @ggie39 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use this. Much more doable on the machine although I had to do a little stitching around the side seam. th-cam.com/video/DeBAyAl-KOE/w-d-xo.html
