TECHNOLOGY ~~~~~~~~ Technology is the impact of wealth creation by engineering. TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION is -a complex process -often takes a long time -requires investment -needs social acceptance Technological Innovation Process =========================== It is a sequence of activities by which technical knowledge is translated into physical reality and becomes used on a scale having substantial societal impact. BRIGHT'S 8 STAGE PROCESS- Stage I. The innovation can begin in one or both of two ways- +By suggestion and/or discovery +Perception of an opportunity Stage II. Synthesis of existing knowledge and techniques to provide theoretical base for the technical concept which usually comes from trial and error. Stage III. The verification of the theory or design concept. Stage IV. The lab demonstration of the applicability of the concept. Stage V. Alternative versions of the concept evaluated. a prototype was developed and subjected to field trial. Backup plans are included. Stage VI. Commercial introduction of the product Stage VII. Widespread adoption of the innovation. Societal impact is generated. Profit flows in. Stage VIII. When the product or its technology is adapted to use in newly defined markets. (This 8 stage process may not assume a chronological flow because any of the stages can see a backward flow or a forward flow in the process) NOTE- =>The idea of conversion into a product is conversion of invention to innovation. =>New idea or concept is scientific invention, but when that invention is used to create an impact or produce income, it becomes technological innovation.
