I want to personally thank the entire Dave matthews band. The OG 5, Dave, Stefan, carter, Boyd and the late great Leroi Moore. All of you touched my heart with your music, but Leroi was special, you know that. I also have to include Butch Taylor, and of course, the Lovely Ladies. Before these
crowded streets was just a beautiful ballad from beginning to end. I haven’t kept up with a lot of the newer songs, but I plan on learning them all and jamming out all summer, just in time for Ocean’s calling in September in Ocean City Maryland, that’s where I live now. It sold out in like 2 hours, of course, but I’ll get some tickets somewhere, and I plan to be close enough to touch all of your hands. So, stay blessed, stay well, and take grace in knowing you may have saved my life with your music, and at the minimum, changed my life forever.
    I ♥️ DMB.
Oh if it’s possible, could you slip in number 41 on the Setlist when you’re here, that’s my favorite. Like Dave said, I wrote 40 ssongs and then I wrote this one. I’ll never forget that. Sometimes I feel as though I’ve lived 40 lives, and this one’s gonna be #41. My encore.
Hands and feet are all alike.
    Yes they are,
    cry freedom,
    cry peace.
We have not lost our way.
    GOD walks with us.

The year was 1995, I was in 5th grade and asked my parents if I could play the electric violin because all I wanted to do was play Ants Marching! Took lessons for a year, but was no Boyd Tinsley!

You think it's hard to play the violin like Boyd? Try being a drummer and trying to play like Carter!! He's a lefty. I remember these guys at Woodstock 99. No one got more topless girls that needed a shower than Dave Matthews Band. If; could go back to the 90's for a day, I'd go around playing "everyday" and just hugging strangers.

The 90s were a better time. The simple pure joys in life seem less these days. Maybe it's by accident or by design. Whatever it is, I just turn the volume up, stop thinking for a time and sink further into my chair which briefly becomes a time machine, even if for 4:27.

You know how sometimes you dissociate when listening to certain songs? My dad made a compilation of 90's songs, and Ants Marching was one of the songs on it. I would listen to all of the songs in the car, holding on to every lyric...except this one. I didn't even know what it was about.
Then one day, I was eating in a restaurant when this song came on the speakers (you know how restaurants, and many other public facilities, play music in the background on speakers). And I was like, "This is one of the songs on Dad's 90's CD! But I forget which one..." Then I realized it was Ants Marching--the one song on the CD that, fittingly for the theme of the song, I never paid attention to. I started paying attention to it a lot more after that.
Fast forward a couple years, and my dad would give me his copy of Under the Table and Dreaming, along with many other of his CDs, when I was going through one of the hardest moments in my life. I listened to this song. I listened to it intently. I held on to every lyric (it helped that I read the lyric book) and finally made sense of what the song meant.
And this song helped me through one of the hardest times in my life.
    Thank you, DMB.

VH1 introduced me to dmb, with Crash Into ME. A couple months later, I heard this song on there. Thinking it was a new song I went to Walmart to find the album, but found out they were two separate tapes and bought under the table and dreaming instead. Didn't buy Crash until a year later.
