Not a huge fan of this band but...what energy and proficiency they have individually and even more collectively. It's impressive how they all feed off each other and trade off shining moments unselfishly without getting in each other's way. Ego free ensemble. Dave and his band are the antithesis of so much that is wrong with this Karaoke, American idol, the voice approach to music. They don't sound like anyone else and aren't interested in piggybacking on someone else's work. So many now get famous for singing other people's songs. Doing your own thing, being original, is always refreshing to see and hear even if it's so rare nowadays.
10 minutes ago. Sick. Listen to more. Their live stuff makes them. They don't play it the same twice. This band is so good and they have been together so long that they know what everyone is doing

I was at this show...DMB and Allman Brothers...I lived in Midtown down the street from Piedmont Park at the time and just remember how life at that moment was absolutely perfect. The most insane DMB show I've been to and still think of it, 14 years later.
James Maloney i disagree a little. as of late, their recording "style" and how their albums come together is different. in the 90s dave wrote everything. band added their piece on top of it. was a little more pure and had some magic that albums since busted stuff havent had. its more of a group think process. they are recording songs now which end up just being a skeleton of the song in years to come as they develop them more and more

The thing I have always loved about Dave Matthews Band, is that every song just sounds like a jam session that got out of hand. Almost like a pure adlib of music and lyric swirled in a blender.
That's pure jamming and having fun through every single set and the fans energize them everytime for more and more. Greatest live shows I've ever been too and I've seen MANY MANY greats bands
I saw DMB for the first time in Houston during this tour. The next year I saw them perform without LeRoy because of his ATV accident. Within a week of seeing them LeRoy had passed. RIP LeRoy. I'm thankful I got to see you perform in 2007!
Genius of a song. I write songs but can't even comprehend how his brain wrote this musically. So unique. When I listen to it I just find my head moving back and forth - it's like you feel the song rather than hear it.
They create together with chord progressions and riff/lick exchange. Someone hears the hook and bridge, chorus and verse fill in. It’s not hard to put together. It’s hard to find the people, the inspiration, the equipment, the time…
Kaul Farm ... well move to South Africa and learn some of their musical styles. Then have your sister get murdered so you have some inspiration. Get into a mixed group in the Carolinas that is inspired by Blue Grass, Blues, Rock and Jazz. Then I think you will have a shot of playing and making songs like him.
He is truly great, but there are more than a handful who exceed or have exceeded him. Check out Rolling Stones 100 top drummers. It gives an excellent run down of these percussion wizards. With that stated, I really like the work Carter does. My ultimate favorite is Neil Peart.
@@patch5588 the list is awesome, not many people focus on the drummer, of course being a Who fanatic Moon the Loon is top of my list, then Bonham the thing that pert has going is he is still jamming today, never a real Rush fan but he is fabulous, there is a big You Tube storm over Elijah Wood drummer for Shania Twain, not a fan very rudimentary and basic, hits it hard but no chops, Tal Bergman who plays for Bonamassa is awesome check him out

A great band that puts on a great show. You can feel how much they like what they do, playing their music for people, they LOVE it!!!!!! Each musician is real good at what they play. Just an awesome time at their show.
The best way to describe this bands music is it makes my brain feel like it's dancing when I listen too and watch these guys. I am not a Dave Mathews Band die hard by any means but these fellas together have accomplished and captured something that is generational.......
There's a reason DMB was the highest grossing band for a decade during the 90's. A band that is as good or better live than in the recording studio. #DMB
No one has ever sounded like the Dave Matthews Band. There's no genre to define their music. Really, Boyd Tinsley bringing the song home with a hoedown fiddle riff? That's crazy - except it's fantastic. The energy of their live performance is infectious. And Carter on the drums? Like a defensive end sacking the QB. Charlottesville, Va is very proud.
Me and a car full of friends drove from Tallahassee, were sold fake tickets from scalpers and had to sneak in, and my car broke down on the way back -- we still laugh about that weekend to this day. This video is incredible, man that crowd in infinite! And such a positive and happy vibe! Goosebumps! Also, the Allman Brothers Band opened. Not a bad night in the park!
A hidden gem from Charlottesville VA. Being from the B Burg/Roanoke Valley, we got to hear these guys before they were big. Grand days of college past. I met the original 5 in '92 and they loved what they did for a living. Very down to earth and active in the VA community, especially the 540.
I visited Piedmont Park back in 1969 when I was in the Air Force just before shipping out to Vietnam ... went to the HEART of ATLANTA MOTEL and spent the day showing off diving from their 10 meter platform ! Yee haww those were the days !
Man... what a PERFORMANCE!! I have heard this so many times, on my CD, on the radio, to the point I sometimes got tired of it... and then I hear THIS!!! I can't believe it, it's like my ears are hearing it for the very first time! Oh my word, I have work to do, but there ain't no way I can sit still at my desk after hearing this!! WOW. Just... wow.
I don’t even give a sh*t which show these come from🤷🏻♂️ My happiest moments as a human came from this jam played live as I followed these fools across the country

That's pure jamming and having fun through every single set and the fans energize them everytime for more and more. Greatest live shows I've ever been too and I've seen MANY MANY greats bands
Spot on...Totally !!!
I saw DMB for the first time in Houston during this tour. The next year I saw them perform without LeRoy because of his ATV accident. Within a week of seeing them LeRoy had passed. RIP LeRoy. I'm thankful I got to see you perform in 2007!
Up to this day, i do not know why I cry every time I her this song ot watch this video.
Genius of a song. I write songs but can't even comprehend how his brain wrote this musically. So unique. When I listen to it I just find my head moving back and forth - it's like you feel the song rather than hear it.
And here you have the essence. Everyone talks about the musicianship of this band, but no, it's the SONG. It's always the song.
They create together with chord progressions and riff/lick exchange. Someone hears the hook and bridge, chorus and verse fill in. It’s not hard to put together. It’s hard to find the people, the inspiration, the equipment, the time…
Have you seen the 60 minutes about him?
Kaul Farm ... well move to South Africa and learn some of their musical styles. Then have your sister get murdered so you have some inspiration. Get into a mixed group in the Carolinas that is inspired by Blue Grass, Blues, Rock and Jazz. Then I think you will have a shot of playing and making songs like him.
When in the car, this song makes me roll back the roof, open all the windows, & drive faster. Pours energy, joy & appreciation into my soul🤸♂️🥁🎼🎸🎷♥️🙏
Dave feeds my soul!!! I can listen all day and never get tired of this music ❤
Superbowl? Let's do it!
And after all these years, still can't help but shed a tear of joy after hearing this unbelievable awesome song for the nth time!
I was at that show, waaaaaay in the back and it was maybe the happiest I’d ever been.
I listened to this EVERY 3 DAYS YES
EVERY 3 DAYS😂 YES
I have new found respect and admiration for The Dave Matthews Band. They are phenomenal.
You got to see them live, the energy is off the hook!
@@jubenville00 Fucking Awesome.... Watched it again, got tear in my eye. I don't cry usually, but this performance really moves me.
Yes
God dammit son you did sell your soul to the devil
Yes…yes they are 😊
I bet Carter wakes up smiling. What a BEAUTIFUL 😃
I dont believe there is a more legendary band than this one
I mean that intro is insane every member shines as bright as the next one every live gigging musicians dream scenario
The drummer with the foot joy golf gloves on is one of the best drummers of all time
Carter Beauford is a living legend indeed

@@ThomNH6229 That was a great video. Thanks for sharing. My turn to share with you. While my favorite solo is YYZ, this one with him in Frankfurt shows off his virtuosity.

Charlottesville Virginia in the house. These guys are badass live
Drummer looks like happiest man in the world because he knows how freaking awesome he is that he's probably, if not the best, top 10 in the world best.
Well said my friend.
One of the best performance of ants marchig❤
EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE A BAND AS TALENTED AS THIS COMES ALONG AND JUST LAYS YOU OUT...
There's a reason DMB was the highest grossing band for a decade during the 90's. A band that is as good or better live than in the recording studio.
#DMB
Timeless classic.
Smile's are the moment to the monumental performance.
I come back to this one because I love the way Dave greets the crowd :p
Thank you God... that was slick!!!
best out there live
U ain't lying
the tom roll @ 6:20 is FIREEEEEEEEEEEEE
4:15 People in every direction. No words exchanged. No time to exchange.
Sad but true.
June 2023…and it’s grooving.
27 yrs later for me and this Band still makes me feel like that younger 20 yr old dude that found a sound to march to for life😄😆😁🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜
No one has ever sounded like the Dave Matthews Band.
Mr Violin is KNOCKING OUT of the park!!!!!
I never tire of this Man and his band , wonderful talent and engages with the audience like a community or family...
I love and thank you so much for your music lifting me still today
Will we ever return to this?
Booker T absolutely crushing it!
HOLY FUCK did not expect to get an adrenaline rush from watching this. The fiddle solo killed me rock the fuck on 🤘🤘💘💘
live concert music,is there nothing better,outstanding !!!!
Man... what a PERFORMANCE!!
Beauford is from a different planet
Genius! Sheer Genius! 😎
Bass player is spectacular; I think he joined DMB at 15
ABSOLUGDLY LOVE, LOVE THE BASS PLAYER, HE GIVES HIS ALL AND CAN TELL HE IS ENJOYING HIMSELF!
Lots of WOW!! BADDDDD BANDDDD!!!
DETROIT MAMMA ❤️
