    "With its stylish looks and practical interior, the SEAT Leon ST is a great small family estate car."

    At the start of the clip she described it as a "small family estate" then complained that the boot wasn't big enough. This car is for somebody who likes a hatchback but could do with a bit more room in the back. If you want bigger boot, go for a large estate, like an Octavia. You cant criticize this car for suiting its intended role.

    SEAT has reached a great DNA for their exterior design. I saw one of these the other day and I actually had to look twice. I live in Berlin and I see plenty of nice cars around. So well I like this SEAT design.

    Just out of curiosity, if anyone has any good reasons (apart from having a bigger boot, or badge, or more softer materials on the dash) to buy the Octavia estate or the Golf estate, than please tell me because I can't think of any rational reasons you would choose the blander, more expensive and heavier in house rivals than this. I personally wouldn't even look at the Golf or Octavia estate after the Leon ST.

    Actually when it comes to boot it is huge in fact. It shouldn't be a letdown. Just look, new Skoda Octavia is so long that it is close to being c onsidered a higher segment ( 4,66 metres length) while Seat has 4,54m and only 23 litres less of bootspace.( 587 l vs 610 l). If I was reviewing here, I would he for Seat since I drive Ford Focus estate which is almost the same length as Seat while Octavia is considerably longer. I am still a newbie in driving so length matters to me :)

    I agree with the VW golf comparison but it is essentially the same car.
    Altough you have different styling it is the same technology engine-wise...
    If you take a look at seat vs volkswagen cars, they are essentially the same most of the time especially the MPV's, however, the VW logo puts on about 2000€ more...

  • @FrightfulAccountant
    @FrightfulAccountant 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    For what is actually a budget VW, the exterior is quite good. Skoda's always look dull as hell, apealing to lawner men and geography teachers, but Seat manages to give their cars something striking.
    The interior is allright I guess. The look and layout reminds me a bit of a 10 year old Volkswagen, but if it was good enough back then, it should be now as well. ;)

    • @FrightfulAccountant
      @FrightfulAccountant 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Could be you are right. I am no that familiar with the Golf 7 interior. I do remember the Golf 5 interior quite well, thus that would imply VW's their dash has not evolved that much since then.
      It is far from a bad dash, though it does look a bit dull and over economic to me by todays standards.

    • @madant7777
      @madant7777 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrightfulAccountant
      That would imply you like the opposite of ergonomic, and that correlates perfectly with today interior style direction that everyone gushes about in pictures (Hyundai, Opel, Ford...). Because they are anything but ergonomic and a pain to use, just look good in pictures.

    • @FrightfulAccountant
      @FrightfulAccountant 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah, once you know the layout of your dash, it does not matter it is not 100% ergonomic :p

    • @madant7777
      @madant7777 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrightfulAccountant No, but when it is placed solely to support the design decision, like the Ford Fiesta dash like a mobile, then it is less than 50% ergonomic and that makes a huge difference.
      Firs drive when you juggle mobile phone, navigation, someone calling and you searching for a document while smoking and trying to lower or direct the aircon away from your face on 4 vents... and that is almost every situation when working... yeah, it makes a lot of difference.

    • @FrightfulAccountant
      @FrightfulAccountant 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the Fiesta is a bit of an example of a very bad dash (I would not say it looks all that good either, my guess it will look dated sooner then many can guess)... Brings us a bit back to some bad 80s Alfa Romeo dashes that featured AC & ventilition control bottons like the one on the remote of a stereo, the buttons for the windows intigrated in the rooflinings and the boot release hidden in the glove box. :p
      I am more like: VW controls are great, but maybe a bit dull. If you could return 10% of the ergonomics and get 20% more wow, it would be great deal.
      I think both the new Mazda 3 and the Honda Civic do well in this class when it comes to dash layout. I looks futurisic, but still familiar.
      Inside the VW group, the small but magnificant VW UP did it good as well, it is even one of the funniest subcompact cars to be in and it did not need any touchscreen stuff!

    • @Noah_E
      @Noah_E 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Imperial gallons are larger than US gallons and their test loops are more sedate than EPA tests. Ours are actually more similar to how people actually drive. They regulate emissions (focus more on CO2) and formulate their fuel differently (the UK doesn't have an ethanol mandate and they use less additives). That means their fuel is purer and more energy dense than ours. UK mpg numbers aren't comparable to US mpg.

    • @apalsenberg
      @apalsenberg 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carl Jude but that gives you 136km per gallon, not the l/km.

    "the entry level 1.2"?? How can these engines cope with added weight of modern cars? when I purchased a new A3 sportback I tried to choose an engine, but national dealer said "only thing available is 1.6, and if you want 1.8 you´ll have to pay...way more!" Damn car´s motor worked like an ass, 35oo rpm on fifth gear, two valves per cylinder, no economy whatsoever. Even a 2.0 S40 did better in economy figures. So I don´t get how smaller engines do better in fuel economy nowadays.

      Sam Sult Well, keep in mind that the US gallon is quite smaller than the UK's. Also, the measurement system (the tests that car manufacturers have to make to ensure the mpg) is quite different in Europe. To put an example, I drive a Civic 8th gen 2.2 CDTi, which had an official consumption of 44.38 mpg (US gallons), but I usually achieve only about 39.87 mpg (US gallons) with a good mix of town, b-road and motorway and my foot being quite gentle on the throotle. In the US, I'm pretty sure the official number would be much closer to the actual consumption you can do.
