  • Estate cars are a bit of a grey area for Seat, especially given the current SUV trend, however, those of us old enough to remember the good old days, still have a soft spot for them. The younger generation are far more likely to opt for a hatchback, while those starting families may be looking at a Tarraco, Arona or even an Ateca. Amost half of Seats income is now accounted for by these popular SUVs. Seat hasnt had an estate car for quite a while. The Ibiza was sold as an estate until 2016 but Seat pulled it from production in favour of its small SUVs. The Leon, the car with which Seat is probably most closely associated, has been sold as an estate since 2013, although it was previously called the Leon ST now simplified to the “Leon Estate” for this latest update.

Well done, one of the few reviewers of an estate to show the seats folded down

I brought mine a year ago with only 480 miles on it and in the first week it's had issues, every message the car has I've had it at least once. Drivers seat retracting on it own over night, tailgate boot struts have failed. Don't expect anything with a new car. Seat won't accept a reject of the vehicle

I have an excellence sportstourer with full kit. Motor (1.5 eTsi) is good, cabin space is good. Otherwise its crap. DCC is very noisy even on moderate bad roads. Without DCC the Sportstourer is way to firm for a daily use on less than perfect roads. Mine had already got a new DSG gearbox, front strut bearing...overall refinement is noticeable less than on an >10 year old Golf 6. The overall operating concept without physical buttons just isn't as ergonomic and safe as in older VW group cars...besides this the whole system is laggy and full of bugs...very frustrating to use everyday.

Excellent and very useful review. I currently have an 11 year old Passat Estate and this, updated version of the Seat Leon I think ticks all the boxes. Love my estate cars! You got my thumbs up for sure, pleasure! Greetings from Holland!
