I think some people that aren't familiar with the FPB concept don't realize these are among the finest, functional yachts ever built. They are fast, they are strong, they are efficient, they are safe, comfortable and every single detail has been thought out for life at sea. You give up some space for the length but you get performance, safety and ease of use in return. This has the space of a typical 80 to 85 +/- foot trawler type design but this can comfortable cruise at 12+ knots, sometimes way over 12 knots, through weather that would be truly frightening on a typical 80 foot trawler. Not to mention, at speeds the FPB yachts are capable of, you can simply avoid most bad weather. Fuel burn compared to a typical 80 foot trawler is nothing short of astonishing. This thing can cruise at speeds many 80 foot trawlers can't even achieve and burn less than 2 gallons per mile while doing it. I haven't seen the numbers on this but, based on other FPB designs, I would expect this could easily exceed a mile per gallon at speeds that would be considered fast for a typical trawler but would be a slow cruise on an FPB. The info on these is out there, take a look for yourself, the numbers on the entire line are truly astonishing. If you want a dock queen, buy a boxy 80 footer with every possible square foot of space crammed in. If you want a thoroughbred that can prance around the world as safely and efficiently as possible, you can't beat an FPB. If you listen, the first owner of this yacht put 50,000 miles on her in 5 years. They are made to run and the beauty is in their function. lol And no, this is not a paid advertisement, just a big fan of Dashew's designs.
I thought I would never see this yacht for sale. I did see a video 5 years ago on a smaller yacht maybe the same family. I remember they made a video about the yacht. They were in the arctic region. When I seen the video the yacht looked like a patrol boat. They had the yacht custom made for their family. I don't know much about these yachts, but I know they can handle most anything that a standard yacht can't. I hope someone that purchases it has as much fun and adventure as these people had.
@@sonicglitchexe3947 Was it www.buffalonickelblog.com you're thinking of? They are on a 70' version of this now, and were on a 64' to start. Or maybe mvironlady.com/ which is an FPB 78? Might be worth noting that the designers of these boats are on a 78' as well, they seem to have fit nearly all the amenities of Iceberg into the much smaller package.
@Mr. Cairo I agree, the Swans are fine, fine yachts, probably the best production sailing yachts made. I crawled through several of them at the Long Beach shows in the 80s and dreamed. Production being the key word though. Check out Dashew's Deerfoot yachts. No, they don't have the amazing woodwork seen in the 80s & 90s Swans but the Dashew's sailing yachts are every bit as impressive as the motor yacht designs. It was actually some of his earlier sail designs that got me hooked. World record breaking designs. Faster than a Macgregor 65, stronger than a Mason. No joke! Unfortunately none of his designs have been mass produced. They have all been made in small numbers.
Of the HUNDREDS of yacht tour videos I've seen, I don't think anyone has ever done it better. The floor plan inlay really helped the viewer keep a sense of where they are in the boat. Sue, you are very near a master. Maybe a slightly wider angle lens... but overall, just superbly done.
The problem is in a lot of these tours the hosts are trying to impress you with how clever or experienced they are. Sue has obviously walked the walk and doesn't need to talk that talk
It would be an honor and I would be thrilled just to step aboard Iceberg. Well done, Dashew! Sue, I could listen to you reading names from the phonebook for hours. That voice! Thanks for the great video.
I really enjoyed your presentation of ICEBERG- it was about the boat and not about the presenter- excellent work and comprehensive. I enjoy the video with your calming voice and manners.
A proper yacht for proper seas. A great walkthrough that showcases the practicality of this ocean-going vessel - I loved all the engineering spaces! Appreciate the plans of the boat that would indicate where we are on the walkthrough - a very nice touch
THANK YOU for actually spelling out what FPB stands for. Everyone I’ve ever asked over the years always pretends to know but they clearly don’t so I’ve never known. So thank you!
Steve Dashew has said himself it started as "F*@king" Power Boat back when the idea of abandoning sail seemed sacrilegious. "Functional Power Boat" is a bit of a backronym, but obviously you aren't going to use profanity and derision to market a $6 million boat. The Dashews have even use "Pilot" for the P, so even the official channels use some flexibility.
Remarkable, looks like a combination of sailing yacht and a navy vessel. To me it's a doomsday boat, suitable if you want to escape a large disaster or war. The ultimate bug out boat.
Circa Marina built this boat. They are in Whangarei, New Zealand. This is a very high quality boat built tough to go anywhere. In harsh conditions these boats are remarkably stable. This is no gin palace and is ugly but totally beautiful.
Thank you ,For 1 of the most well shown yachts, that I have seen in a least 2 years that I have been looking at, and I have gone and looked at even the new yacht shows and feel that you have shown this yacht better than a lot of the sales people, at the malty mil dollar yacht shows, that is my opinion. And want to say thank you very very much .
I am not saying i have knowledge about ships in general. But for this ship i have to say, and only by intuition, if you have the money and the will to travel around the seas, exploring and enjoying, this is a great ship. Safe, comfort, spacious, gives me a very good impression for adventure. And i am not a yacht expert, even more i am not from New Zealand. I am Greek and comment from Greece, then, my opinion is without any kind of interest. Only the thoughts of a dreamer 50 years old.
I saw Beowulf enter Hermitage Harbor N.F. with just the two of them aboard ,I was astonished ! They had come directly from Nantucket on a cruse from New Zealand just the two of them , I was in awe !!!
great job! loved the idea with plan inset and locator... this vessel reminds me of a navy ships ... loved the functionality and understatement... just right for familly and "country house" living aboard... I can see "crew"of a family taking this to places... again congrats on this vid, Girl... Great job!..
I like that they started by showing it in the North Sea, it is really a no-nonsense vessel. The woodwork is nice above and great seating. Huge spaces bit spartan in places but that's preferred really because you would want to customize those areas anyway.. in contrast to those areas you have amazing furniture pieces like that table and the mahogany. Bloody fantastic vessel, wish I had the coin.
I seen the doc on this sailing yacht. The owner designed this yacht while he was sailing another yacht around the world many times, so this yacht has a lot of thought put into it as the owner sat around on his other yacht and thought n thought to himself ( and herself too ) what’s the finest yacht there is n this is what he came up with. Imo this is a very nice blue water sailing yacht line.
Wow, fantastic yacht and presentation. Great looking yacht, all aluminum for rocky shores of the great lakes. Twin cabin configured for "little people"
Just recently stumbled upon these FPB's. Amazing yachts no doubt. The efficiency and ease of handling short handed means it won't cost a fortune in crew salaries and extra provisions etc. The one thing I don't understand, and a lot of brokers do this, the PRICE! Why must it be such a secret? If I were in the market for a yacht, it would be nice to know immediately whether I can afford it or not.
TH-cam is not our primary method of selling our listings. We include a link in the first line of the video description for every one of our videos, which will take you to further information such as price, full technical specs etc. Price is subject to change and if we were to include it in the video itself, it would become immediately dated and have to be replaced over and over. Kind regards.
I've done quite a bit of research into yacht design planning to place my order in 2023 and my list is down to FPB, Nordhavn & Bering. I love the military ship aesthetic of the FPB and it's leaps and bounds better at handling rough seas than any other manufacturer. I wonder if a large Seakeeper Gyroscope, or a pair of them, would be a big improvement in overall stability, not that it's a real issue. I'm more referring to port or starboard tidal movement or wind generated rocking while at port.
The FPB has flopper stoppers when at anchor, and really doesn't roll or hobby horse in big seas; it just slices through. Unfortunately they also stopped making the FPB series a couple of years back, and now you have just 18 in various sizes to choose from, should they become available second hand.
Beautiful MY. Could i politely suggest using a wider angle lens as this would very much help produce a better video tour.

Very nice, but needs a higher toe rail or eve a 1 foot high side shell extension for a safer side walkways. Good for pets and children. Finally a LRC builder who understands the need for large capacity refrigeration and freezer. I would only change the bow to have some upper flare for a dryer ride and to add buoyancy when pitching down in rougher seas. It plows like a sailboat and is very wet.
Many yachts claim to be voyage yachts but Dashew Yachts are actual voyage yachts and have done the miles in all sea states. Iceberg alone has sailed enough miles to go around the earth twice at the equator. Just about the perfect yacht if one wants to make passages.
Hi, this is a lovely yacht. The walk around is nice, but the camera panning is a bit too quick when viewed on anything bigger than a phone. Also, the sound levels between the narrator and former owner/designer need correcting for balance. Would so buy this if I could 😄
The theme of this design seems to be, "make it comfortable such that the family can all be together and comfortable regardless of where on the yacht they need to be at the moment. Even at the navigation consoles, there's plenty of room and comfort for the entire family. Quite uncommon.

One of the finest yachts ever created.
I really liked how the exterior of the boat looks utilitarian and all business, the interior is the opposite.
Just a gorgeous boat. I love the layout. Truly functional and what I would consider a family yacht. Not fancy modem museum pieces.
