I got one of those, one time. If my memory serves me right, I think I ended up adding WAY more than 8 ounces of water to the eggs, because they kept soaking it up, & soaking it up. 🤔
It’s hard not to over add water but you just drain it and you’re set

To be fair to the MCW, while it requires water the conditions its meant to be used in probably have a lot of snow to boil.

Very cool meal friend. Nice to hear your voice once again sir! I lucked into one MCW, Yrs. ago. I have new one here upcoming. I wish one upcoming, will be this. I love eggs and bacon! Sides seem cool, just minimal distress. These meals, unless you add water slowly, can be, well, soupy. I add less than required, add slowly more, to my consistency. Keep mixing. You do the same I see. Glad you still have cool stoves sir. I make A mess every meal anymore. I just laugh and go on. It Lets my friends have A good laugh. Sides , drinks, main, look excellent. You had an awesome meal. Peace from Ky., John.

well the closest I could find was 1918 US mess kit. I wish the people who supply our military would use more "brand" foods like other countries instead as cheap as possible stuff. There's no reason to have a tradition of rations being barely edible, when they could use companies like mountain house etc.

Rations are messy
I would be in such danger of eating the freeze dried meal without heating it.
Also, I wonder why they bothered to double-wrap the Fig Newtons. I assume the commercial packaging is fairly shelf-stable anyway?
Probably to dip them in warm water in case they froze. Also the packaging and more shelf life

I just want to clear out this food-terminology once and for all: "Entrée" means "meal starter" or "apetizer". So saying "Main Entrée" is kinda oxymoronic: it's either a Main *or* an Entrée - it can't be both! ;P

Here's a great idea that I have already tried and it turned out excellent......use a pack of instant sausage gravy or country gravy and this ration is GOLDEN!🤌
I will keep that in mind
