Does it Taste Good? ║ How to Make Medicinal Herbal Soda │Healing at Home #5

  • Today I'm making homemade soda pop out of medicinal herbs. (I'm also sharing how I make a Mt. Dew-type syrup.) First we make the syrup out of herbs, sugar, Kool-aid and some minerals. Then we make it into a soda with a Fizzini and CO2 cartridges. I noticed this soda lowered my blood pressure when I drank it regularly. I don't know which herbs did it, or if it was the combination. My recipe changes ever time I make it because I decide to add new things each time. Here's the list of the exact herbs I used this time, but keep in mind it can be made in much smaller quantities with any herb you want (or with plain water rather than tea!)
    2 Tbs. Acai berry
    2 Tbs. Alflafa Leaf
    2 Tbs. Amla
    2 Tbs. Ascorbic Acid
    2 Tbs. Ashwaghanda Root
    2 Tbs. Astragulus Root
    2 Tbs. Bitter Melon
    2 Tbs. Butcher's Broom
    2 Tbs. Burdock Root
    2 Tbs. Celtic Sea Salt
    2 Tbs. Chaste Tree Berries
    1 Cinnamon Stick
    1/2 cup Citric Acid
    2 Tbs. Comfrey Root
    2 Tbs. Dandelion Root
    2 Tbs. Don Quai Root
    2 Tbs. Epsom Salt
    2 Tbs. Eyebright Leaf
    2 Tbs. Fennel Seed
    2 Tbs. Fenugreek
    2 Tbs. Ginger Root
    2 Tbs. Gymnema
    2 Tbs. Hawthorn Berry
    2 Tbs. Horehound
    2 Tbs. Horse Chestnut
    2 Tbs. Horsetail
    2 Tbs. Juniper Berries
    2 Tbs. Kava Kava
    6 packets of Orange Kool-Aid
    2 Tbs. Lady’s Mantle
    2 Tbs. Lily of the Valley
    2 Tbs. Licorice Root
    2 Tbs. Maca
    2 Tbs. Milk Thistle
    2 Tbs. Motherwort
    2 Tbs. MSM
    2 Tbs. Nettle Leaf
    2 Tbs. Oat Straw
    2 Tbs. Parsley Leaf
    2 Tbs. Pau d’Arco
    2 Tbs. Raspberry Leaf
    2 Tbs. Red Clover Leaf
    Several slices of Reishi Mushroom
    2 Tbs. Rhodiola Root
    2 Tbs. Sassafrass Root
    2 Tbs. Schisandra
    2 Tbs. Shatavari Root
    2 Tbs. Shepherd’s Purse
    2 Tbs. White Oak Bark
    2 Tbs. Wild Cherry Bark
    2 Tbs. Wild Yam
    Citric acid can be found in the canning aisle of most grocery stores. I buy mine in bulk from Bulk Supplements. That's also where I got the Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and the MSM powder.

    I'd like to mention that I bought my CO2 cartridges from Amazon in bulk. Some of the cartridges are a tiny bit long than others, but I've found if I leave the Fizzini door open and just load the cartridge directly into the Fizzini, I can usually jiggle it and get it in. I use it with the door open then. The slightly longer cartridges come out to 33 cents each so it seems worth the little bit of hassle.

    I don't drink soda because the fizziness and the sweetness does not agree with my stomach but here in Michigan people always say that our locally made ginger ale called vernors is a cure all for everything.

      My list just keeps growing every time I make it. I started out with a few things and then each time I think, "Oh, I should put some of that in!" I had 8 more herbs in this batch than I did the last one. There's definitely no true recipe here so just use what you have and give it a try!

    I can't wait to tell my friend Jen about this! I was telling her about you and your herbal remedies and so we are both going to start ordering and making tinctures, capsule sand salves! :) Now I have to tell her about your all purpose herbal soda--it's funny because my friend said to me, "Can I just buy a ton of different herbs and make one general tincture to take everyday?" We laughed about it thinking it wouldn't really work, but your herbal soda seems to be just that! Fantastic! I am learning so much and you are just great! I appreciate your relaxed attitude about things, too! Blessings, youtube friend!! liz in PA

    I haven't had a Mountain Dew in years and years but that beverage is not only magic , I was never able to drink just one. I always had to have two cans at a time. Mountain Dew is the only beverage that screams refreshment. I promise I didn't miss the point of your video but I just might add a 6 pack of mountain dew to my next grocery order.

    I know hawthorn helps my mother with high blood pressure... it's in your blend so that probably helps.. I am sure some others on there help as well. Neat idea to make soda from the herbs.

    Try water kefir! So simple to make. We like ours flavored with raisins. Gives it a dr. pepper type taste. I also like lemon and lime juice giving it a 7-up taste.

    I also wonder if the minerals and sea salt helped with your blood pressure!? What I have heard is that so many of us are deficient in the minerals we need and that getting our minerals can really help us in lots of ways.

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, I'm sure it helps. In fact, when I had Claudia and the whole fiasco with her birth, they prescribed me blood pressure medicine but it didn't do anything. I took a teaspoon of sea salt and within 30 minutes my blood pressure was normal. I try to take a lot of salt, but sometimes I forget. I can tell when I start getting heart palpitations that I'm neglecting my salt intake.

    • @lizlane6490
      @lizlane6490 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so glad you just said that! I also sometimes get heart palpitations and I just ordered a heart formula tincture that was recommended by someone for heart palpitations, but sea salt for that, too! Great idea and I am going to try it! How much do you use in a glass a water and how many times a day? So excited to try it!

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually put about 1/2 a tsp. in a small cup and drink it with a small amount of warm water. If there's still salt in the cup I add a little more water and finish drinking it. I've had heart palpitations off and on my whole life, but they got horrible when my friend and I decided we were going to do the "healthy" thing and drink a gallon of water a day. We both got horrible palpitations. When I'd lie down my heart felt like it was going to flutter out of my chest. Since it was happening to both of us, I realized it had to be from the water. The night I figured it out, I got out of bed and drank a whole teaspoon of salt. They stopped immediately. My friend ended up going to a heart specialist and having all sorts of blood work done, appointments and prescriptions. I think she was afraid to try the salt. It took her many months to recover. It's been about two years since that happened and now whenever I feel a twinge in my chest, I drink some salt and I feel fine. It's the first time in my memory I've been free of heart palpitations. (I read once that when food was preserved with salt, the average person consumed more than Tablespoon a day- way more than we're told is "healthy" now. I have no qualms with eating lots of salt anymore! We do use Celtic Sea Salt rather than table salt, though.)

    • @lizlane6490
      @lizlane6490 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right--sea salt is great for you unlike the regular table salt. I had a work up done, too and my doc said she has stack of files a mile high of women in their 30's 40's and 50's with heart palpitations that do not originate out of a dangerous place (not sure what that means but she could see that from me wearing a monitor) and she wonders if it just hormonal--which I think would all relate since minerals, salt, herbs, essential oils, etc can all help get our bodies (& hormones) become more balanced. Can't wait to try this sea salt in warm water! The heart formula tincture by Cedar Bear seems to be helping, too.Interesting about the water! I am currently trying to drink a lot of water, too! I will have to keep an eye on that! Have a great weekend!

      Andrea Mills I actually used the sea salt water to clear up a UTI. It worked so quick it was crazy. It was terrible to drink, but the relief it brought was well worth it.

    Help me understand here....did you select particular herbs to use for their particular healing properties and what you need OR are you just seeking to get a dose of general herbs? (I remember the extreme wrapping on your Fizzini. I laughed.) xoj

    • @TheMillsFamilyVlog
      @TheMillsFamilyVlog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a little of both. The first time I made it I started with a few herbs that I wanted for particular reasons, but each time I make more I think of new herbs that I want for particular reasons to the point now that it seems ridiculously general. As I'm pulling jars off the shelf I see something and think, "Oh, I should put some of that in, too!"

      Two things that really helped me with that are the Lower Bowel Formula I talked about in the capsule video and taking a Hydrochloric Acid/Betaine supplement. I used it for a month or so and I felt so much better. I stopped getting heartburn, too.
