    My local Volvo dealership helped me get a free software update without paying for the full $700 service you mentioned. Because my car was still under warranty she basically said I can get this free for you if you repeat after me: “my infotainment system is glitchy.” Not sure if it’s a Volvo wide *wink wink* kinda policy or if my rep was just really nice. Worth a try though

      That's the problem with these newer cars. The mechanicals can be fine, but a software update can compromise everything. The fact that he's glossing over he hasn't seen anywhere on the tires is revealing that the dealership realized there was no way on the tires. Therefore, there was no reason to recommend an alignment. These dealerships are meant to just upsell but not necessarily take care of your car. The fact that they're struggling with a sensor but was willing and ready to suggest an alignment for a car that didn't need it. This gentleman should be looking at this dealership side eye'd pertaining to future services here on

    Both of my s90 parking sensors are going berserk. Oddly, this followed getting 30,000 mile service. Thanks to this and your other video, I know what to expect when I bring it back to the dealer.

    Hi Ron, Recently purchased 2018 S90 T6 with Bowers & Wilkins. Love driving it. Ongoing problem is alarm randomly going off. Local dealer interrogated codes and thinks it's a sensor in driver's door, so that's going to be maintenance priority number one when they're able to remove door panels in a couple of weeks. We'll see. Under Carmax warranty, and they assured me it's covered. Still learning all the permutations of the Sensus system. Haven't yet tried Park Assist. Cheers.

      Very nice, color? AWD? Thats really annoying, does it go off while driving? Active cruise work well?

    • @usafmd1
      @usafmd1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RonRohde Silver. AWD. Not while driving. Adaptive cruise works great. Unfortunately, the alarm issue is turning into a deal-killer; will likely return to dealer before full refund time period runs out.

    Had the exact same loose sensor problem, same area even & the fix is adding a tiny ammount of sylicone seal before pressing it back in place. Never comes out again

    Hi Ron,
    I have a 2018 S90 T6 Inscription.
    I love my car so far but same as you I have had a few issues so far I bought it brand new from Niello Volvo of Sacramento. The service Department is horrible but since they are the only one in the greater area we have no choice.
    Since I've owned it I have had an injector replaced
    They replaced the entire dash because the leather was separating.
    I've noticed that when I'm at idle speed in dynamic mode the breaks will squeak. My service technician said its because the car brakes itself and there's nothing they can do.
    My satilite and GPS plastic cover behind my rearview mirror rattles.
    I've had to replace all 4 brakes and rotors which again our dealer said that with the auto breaking its normal..
    Our maintenance agreement is up next year so I went and bought the extended one and like you other than the brakes everything has been covered.
    I have tinted my windows and I debaged my car as I do it with all of my vehicle's which up until now never got me stopped being out to figure out what I'm driving.
    Let me know if or what you can find out please in regards to my brakes situation as I don't know anyone else who has a Volvo and what I've found online doesn't seem to help.

      Wow, thats a pretty long list of problems. How many miles? I replaced my rotors and pads recently at 40k miles. Paid out of pocket, so can update a video on that cost here in Dallas at the dealer. Not sure your question, I think the squeak is not normal. I'll take a video but my car doesn't make noise in Dynamic mode. PS. love your "mods" sounds identical to mine (tint and debadged)

    Apart from XC40, other Volvo models use the same 4-c engine platform which is easier to fix.
    From what I have read, Volvo has few mechanical problems, but mainly electric ones.
    It is cheaper to maintenance Volvos in Europe and Asia, as more people drive in these countries. (same for German cars)

      Yeah, lets hope that stays the same on the new owner/generation/design.

    I had the park sensor issue after a thunderstorm... It eventually went away. But then came back after a car wash... Then went away again.... I'm thinking it's an actual sensor problem. I'd removed the bumper and a loose sensor is extremely obvious. None of mine are loose.
    I have the built in Sweden 2017 so I don't know if that makes a difference

    • @RonRohde
      @RonRohde  ปีที่แล้ว

      ah, sensor issue would also make sense. I dont know if it always moves, but its 100% not perfect from Volvo!

    The biggest problem with Volvo is that a repair manual is not readily available for customers which suggest that you have to trust what ever any so called Volvo mechanic tells you weather if it correct or not, and it leaves you unable to determine the validity of any work done on your Volvo car, which greatly reduces the appreciation of your Volvo car as most mechanics and second hand future buyers of your Volvo will become too scared to touch it, making your Volvo become a nightmare in work horse 🐎 clothing, it should be a crime to sell a vehicle without a repair guide! So if anyone want to start a legal process this is what it should be with regaurd to Volvo a wonderful car with a self made problem of greed and lack of consideration for customers freedom of choice!

    • @DivaniKingston
      @DivaniKingston ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can get it. You just have to pay for it... And pay a pretty penny for it. Lol.
      But if you absolutely need it you can get access to the service manual for 3 days for like 60 usd... Goofy expensive, but if you print off or screen shot your instructions you can have them.
      I've needed to go in for stuff.

      @@RonRohde this is my experience too. The built in nav is actually pretty dismal. But the map is great. Just use Android Auto to navigate when you need to navigate... The stock map to zoom in and see where you're going.
      It's nice because the directions show up in the HUD but it's so cumbersome to get moving (and doesn't like finding destinations easily) so it's easier to just use Android Auto

      @RonRohde  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chinese yes, I think the interior has been tested enough to be reliable. There are strengths and weaknesses. Piano gloss has been excellent, no scratches, etc. Dash and surrounds are perfect no squeaks or anything. I don't love the seat wear...

      Oddly, the Chinese built car is more expensive than the 2017 model.
      I'd rather have the 2017 solely for the smaller moonroof.
      That screen on the panoramic roof is keeping no kind of heat out.
