hey everyone, thanks for tuning in for this episode of the engine install, first fire up, and camshaft breakin on Dominic's 1968 Dodge Monaco Wagon 440!!
That's awesome! This one used to have the wood grain sides as well but the years and neglect have not been kind to the vinyl wood decals. We are going to paint the Monaco some time this winter and I'm pushing Dominic hard to put them back on. He is unsure just yet 😅🤞🏼
Domed pistons with valve reliefs. 10.6:1 compression. I ported the heads like the crazy. 0.480" lift I/E and 230 duration at 0.050" lift. 110 degree lobe separation. Internally balanced forged crank. She's healthy 😎
@ it was funny. He had a half tank of 87 in er when we broke the cam in. Once it was warm , it gave horrible spark knock on starting up. Then ran mostly fine. He's got a full fresh tank of 94 octane in er now and happily it's enough to no longer spark knock or rattle at all. I was very concerned about it but only one way to find out. lol
That Monaco brings back childhood memories. My family had one just like it in a light yellow color, wood grain sides, 440, etc. Love seeing one!

Any fun stuff in it?

@@dazeofgloryshopworks5806 I always use 10 as the magic number. I had one that was 10.5 ish and could never feed timing to it.
@@dazeofgloryshopworks5806 Here's the other part of that story. 3/4 ton 4wd with 4.11. 8 mpg loaded or empty.
