My husband who is 57 today has just seen this for the first time, he’s the child on the left in the short sleeve shirt, behind Susan Tully, he’s told us about appearing on the Saturday Banana many times over the years. Thank you for posting this!
Long shot i know, but don't suppose you have any more Saturday banana clips. I was on it when a kid on the run-around part, nobody I knew had a video so I habe no record of it, it was the Saturday that the barron knights were on doing a taste of aggro
Hi Belinda. Sadly I only had access to the big video recorder for the two episodes I was on. And Southern didn't keep tapes of the shows. But I hope it remains a happy memory@@belindajohnson1198
And kids in the Tyne Tees region had Lyn Spencer as duty announcer linking a seemingly random selection of American imports and old films around this time - used to just get the duty announcer to link American shows and old films! Depending upon where you lived at various times across the year, you might have got any one of the following: Our Show, presented entirely by kids - a memorable moment from that saw a young presenter refer to the Monaco Grand Pricks; Saturday Scene, presented by Sally James before Tiswas poached her; Tiswas; Various regional stuff where your ITV region stuck the duty announcer in the continuity suite and got them to link American programmes and old movies; Programmes similar to Tiswas and Saturday Banana, but without the zany bits - some of which were probably not live!
@@TheChrisBalcombe Do you have any footage of X-Ray Spex on the show? If not the music then the interview footage would be amazing (for my gf who was a guest, around 11 years old at the time).

I'm so pleased Julie. Can't believe how the time has flown by. Best wishes to you both 🙂

Thank you for uploading this!
That summer, our coach from Taunton was heading to Southsea to catch the IOW hovercraft, when we passed the studios & saw the giant banana outside!
Ah. The good old days! Thanks for commenting. Happy days.
I am the 500th subscriber! Thank you for this clip! :)
Many thanks Ray! I think I have to find another 500 before I get a fiver each month from TH-cam! Best Wishes. 🙂

Meanwhile, kids in the ATV region were enjoying Tiswas.
Or suffering it!

Thankyou for sharing this clip. Do you have any more of the band who were appearing here (Darts)?
I do, but sadly TH-cam won't allow me to upload the full sequence due to copyright breaches :-(
Yes, I understand that. I did comment on your Facebook posting recently. :-)
@@cdabbs71 Apologies. My memory isn't what it was.
It's no problem at all. Many thanks for your reply. :)
