My Dad owned (early 1970’s) the Ford Popular shown at 6:49. He part exchanged it for a Cortina and a few months later it appeared on this show having been customised. It was something for me to brag about at school 😂😂
Have been singing this on a loop for weeks. Being a fan of The Goodies this is a typical Oddie creation!!!! My three year old is now singing it poor kid. I was only 4 years old when it was originally aired🍌🍌🍌🍌😉
A member of the public phoned Southern Television to complain about the sight of the banana that greeted them as they drove across Northam Bridge, and past the studio complex. Apparently, the receptionist apologised 'if you are offended by it'; then reassured the lady that it 'is not a permanent erection '
Rumour has it that the TV show was originally going to be called the Saturday Bonanza, but someone misheard it and thought it was Saturday Banana and so the name stuck.
@@jackbuddenjb just read online that its still about but been off road along time being rebuilt- its been painted blue and also green over the years but curant owner wants to put it back to yellow but this time one straight colour with nothing on sides.
1978. Made by Southern ITV region. Not a patch on Tiswas or No.73 which would follow later, but it was one of the first saturday tv shows to try and be a bit more than cartoons and pop stars.
A pity T.I.S.W.A.S. was never fully networked. But that was Regional I.T.V. at the time. Would I like it back? Not really. Although there is space and time betweem Midnight 30 and 6 A.M. on I.T.V..
