What top coat should I use on my gunpla? I used a Tamiya top coat and all the paint I put on it disappeared 😅

Hey Homie, gave ya a sub today. I don't even do these Gun thingys but I dig your attitude and sense of humor, just from kinda lifelong sad dude to another, i know this is isnt easy. I digress, I wanted holla atcha and see if you've found anything recently even close to real chrome yet we can just spray. I've heard spaz stix over gloss black is pretty good. I do RC's I got started with because my son wanted one and since down that rabbit hole I've gone trying make him the dopest stuff out there. I'm an artist and I mostly make all sorts of art out junk people throw away, so having a good chrome (not silver paint ;) ) in the tool-belt would be pretty RADand thus far, I have nada. Holla back if you ever have the time, I'd sure appreciate your input because you're just as psycho as me on the details. Much love!! ✌️

chiefraub if you looking for airbrushes/compressors check eBay out.there is always some poor stuck that used them for a few times and didn’t do much with it after.

Helping that algorithm
Built my first Gunpla (An HG GN-0000 00 Gundam) the other day to see if its a hobby for me and today I just bought the RG Force Impulse Gundam Z.A.F.T. Mobile Suit ZGMF-X56S/a. I'm so excited to start it and see how different it is from the HG I built. Gonna build a few more and then depending on how I'm feelin about it, I'm gonna build a paint booth and start doing mods to them.
Thank you for sharing this with your fans, youre a genuine inspiration and I doubt I'd be doing this had you not started this channel. I'll be happy if I can become half as good as you are, luckily I have my tattoo artist girlfriend to help me out haha.

I used splash paints before getting back into gunpla. It’s great stuff. Used it to paint custom hot wheels.
I bought the entire range from Newtype, they sat for awhile but after I started using them, the more I like them. Not really a fan of premixed paint because its less bang for your buck but I do like the convenience of them. I found the same as you though, for highlighting and shading, they work great. Close the mac valve and you can do some really precise work. The metalizers are awraome though. Love the burnt Iron for frames.

even with the spraybooth, respirator, gloves and goggles, do you have any health concerns? I've been using these for a while and suddenly am getting paranoid after reading up on the contents of the 2k primers and clear coats.
@itsagunpla was trying to figure out what the hell a mr supreme airbrush was lol ok after a bit of googling i found that its listed on amazon as the mr supreme but the actual name is PS770 GSI Creos Mr. Airbrush Custom 0.18mm. This is a fantastic brush i have the Ps-289 procon boy its the cheaper .3 version . neways paying 600 is outrageous if you want the same air brush as Papa Gundam they have them at spraygunner for 275 with one day shipping that's also where i got my ps-289 and its around 100 both are fantastic airbrushes from Mr.Hobby and like gundam said there made in the same factory as iwata.

Nice video bro. I would like to suggest a series of tutorial videos. A updated one. A first vídeo showing your tool, sanding material etc. A aecond one showing the paint that you use etc. Another one showing your paint technics so on . People really like this kind of vídeos. It would give tour channel a lot o visibility. Its a win win situation.

my most recent build did use a lot of splash paint (the automotive ones). I really am not a fan of the primers, they were thinner than i like. I used a different ratio with more paint to get it a better results. however the royal sapphire pearl i used and it was amazing.

Did you make your own airbrush booth? Planning to make my own but looking at fans is giving me a headache, haha. Would love to know what fan you used if you did make it and what you think of it considering you're using lacquers, etc.
ive been painting miniatures since 2011. you should check out scale 75 paints, the absolute best paints ive ever used. airbrush or regular brush the stuff is freaking magic
also stylrenz primer is the best airbrush primer on the market

What happened to change your mind on alclad? Just bought a handful of paints for a candy gold and red sazabi
I don't use alcolad clears everything but glossy doesn't cure correctly for me.

Try using a dish dryer. I believe that's what Gunpla labs uses.

In you opinion other then priming is a spray gun nessacary
I find airbrushes are alot more controlled than spray cans. I tried to top coat with a Krylon Matte finish can and it yeets the spray out fast and soaked my kit no matter how fast i moved it across it. Luckily it dried without frosting or splotchy marks but that was scary .

I picked up a bunch of the metalizer metallics. I thought they would be good as a possible replacement for alclad. They don't look like metallic paints. They look more like car color tones. I'm a little disappointed with them.
The focus seems to be Car stuff mainly, they just started a mech line which is the stuff I grabbed.
I know this might sound nuts....but I want to see your stuff in the next Builder's Cup. No joke.

Ohh...
Just used these paints (Mecha Color from Splash) on my latest build, th-cam.com/video/8asEjlndwOk/w-d-xo.html and I agree with you. The paint seems to be more designed for fine even coat, it was hard to do shading and you need really fine trigger control. I also had problem with lacquer based top coat which made it a spotty mess. Acrylic varnish seems to work fine.
