  • I released Episode 1 (5 String Materials) about a month ago, and if you haven't seen it, you can check it out here - • Racquet Strings [5 Rac...
Since then, a couple of viewers pointed out that there are more than 5 string materials.
    * Daryl mentioned Iso-Speed Control Classic & Professional Classic, which is made with 100% polypropylene ribbons.
    * Scott mentioned a squash string called Tecnifibre 305 made out of polyurethane.
Since we're on the subject, have you heard of Gamma Edge strings from back in the day?
    No Googling allowed (LOL).
In this video, I'll share the tension maintenance readings I took during the four weeks on three string material types.
PEEK (Zyex) - Ashaway MonoGut ZX Pro
    Nylon - Prince Lightning Pro
    Polyester - Babolat RPM Rough

Aloha, Thanks for your support! I hope it's as entertaining as educational. 🤣
Yes, it takes time to produce these videos, but it's fun to see what I can learn from it, too! It's especially fun when I get to include other people, especially my wife Heather! 😜

    Aloha Albert!
Thanks for diving into these Monogut ZX strings, I've been interested in them myself. I have a client who is a junior player, she's 14 and I've transitioned her all the way from a full bed of synthetic gut, to Multifilament, and she goes through a full bed of either in 2-3 weeks. Interestingly enough lately she's been breaking a cross string right in the middle of the sweet spot every time. I gave her a hybrid of a multifilament main, with a softer poly as a cross, Head Lynx Touch, and that seemed to do good, but after a month they came back and with now the multifilament main was broken.
I am going to try and give her Monogut ZX 1.27 as a main, and stick with a poly cross, and see how she does with this setup, before going full bed of firmer poly :)
I am also interested in trying this hybrid setup for myself! I've heard and read on the forums that MonoZX is a great main string to use in a Hybrid
    Mahalo! 🤙

      Aloha,
You're welcome, and I'm happy that this was helpful!
MonoGut ZX Pro is an excellent string for players (especially kids) transitioning from nylon to polyester strings.
Using these strings as the main makes sense if you plan to hybrid it with polyester. As an experiment, if she doesn't break the mains in a month, you could try what I did in this video (LOL). th-cam.com/video/TWahO045JCg/w-d-xo.html
One last word of advice: check the grommets thoroughly and avoid cinching the knots too tightly. These strings are super sensitive. 🤙

Aloha, Yep, you got it right! I wish I had my RDC and ERT300 back then. It would have been interesting to see how those strings maintained tension! 🤣

Great video and information! How do you know if a string should be pre-stretched? Does it say on the manufacturer’s website listing for the string?
Also, how do you prestretch string? Do you just set the tension 10% higher? Thanks!

Aloha Scott, Thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Some strings may come with specific instructions, but the more elastic the string is, the more essential it is to pre-stretch. After stringing experience with Lightning Pro strings and conducting tension maintenance testing, I found that 10% of the machine pre-stretch worked well. These strings elongate more than most other nylon strings, and I found that pre-stretching helped with the initial tension loss that occurs overnight. The higher the elongation, the more Power Potential the string delivers. If you want to take a deeper dive into this subject, watch this video - th-cam.com/video/Si8ZSmmUU4Q/w-d-xo.html 🤙
