    Monogut ZX Pro are absolutely the best. Been using them for years as a full bed and they are so easy on the arm. Interestingly, the natural color strings feel slightly different than the black (the black ones have a more pronounced "ping" at impact), but they're both GREAT.

    Interesting talk! JW is awesome 😂
    Curious to give it a try...
    But TWU, why isn't Ashaway Crossfire II in the string performance database? 🙏

    Very interesting content . . . definitely learned more about Ashaway's strings and their unique qualities! Vantage strings were very popular back in the day (70 & 80's) when I first learned to string.
    I recently play tested the MonoGut ZX Pro 17 and found that the tension loss in the first week was similar to the full poly setup that I normally use. It held it's tension well from week 2 and beyond. This was even after I was advised to pre-stretch the MonoGut ZX the old fashioned way (wrapping it around a pole) before I strung it up.
    The strings snapped back well, but found out the hard way how easy it is to break it while tightening the knot. :(
    It was interesting to hear about the play test you did with the Kevlar/MonoGut ZX hybrid and the full MonoGut ZX! If you are looking for additional play testers to try that out, please let me know! :)

    Great podcast. Can you please give some tips on how to string MonoGut ZX without breaking it? Thanks and happy holidays!

    Also, how tight can I string MonoGut ZX? My current cross string is Prince Premier Touch 16, and I put that at 70+ pounds. (Mains is Ashaway Kevlar 18, strung 5 pounds looser than the crosses.)

    Is monogut zyex better paired with kevlar? Or polyester? Zyex for cross or mains,which is better?

    In a previous podcast Michelle mentioned some blistering from the Nike GP turbo.
    Wondering if anyone is experiencing the issue I am having. In my third session playing with the Nike GP Turbo I started to get a blister in a weird place, on both of my big toes just above the toenail. I have a narrower foot with a slightly higher arch and I stayed with my normal size which seem fine length wise but a little snug around the toe box.

      @Javace,
      I think I was the only playtester to have that issue but mine was more a burning sensation under my big toes (I get it often with Asics shoes), I definitely felt like I struggled a tiny bit with the sizing in that toe box unfortunately. That may have been my only dislike with that shoe. Maybe someone else can chime in, but I think the biggest reason I sized up a half size was my feet felt suffocated in there and sounds like the top of the toebox may be rubbing you even though the length seems ok. I can say, we all agree the shoe opens a bit after a week or so of use, so hoping this goes away and you can play blister-free!

    I am tremendously interested in trying out the Monogut ZX, but would really want to see how it works in a hybrid with a poly, in order to get the comfort and tension maintenance of ZX coupled with the inherent control of poly. I hit quite hard with a decent amount of spin, at around the 4.5 level, so I do mis-hit from time to time. Would you recommend using ZX in the mains with the poly in the crosses, or vice versa? I would naturally think about using ZX in the crosses, but I read that the material, being very hard in spite of its elasticity, and having to be strung higher than the mains, would end up digging into the mains very quickly and cause premature notching. Is this true? If so, would the solution be to use ZX in the mains at, say, 56lbs, and a round poly (say 4G or 4G soft) at 50lbs in the mains? I am using a Angell TC100, which is 100 sq.in., low RA in a very open 16x19 string pattern.

      We would likely prefer it in the crosses with a poly in the mains. As far as tension you would likely want to go tighter with the Monogut ZX. Troy, TW

      Thank you for this informative sharing. I have been curious about this hybrid for awhile. What tension would you advice for someone who likes his tension 56-58 lbs on a biphase to be for the crossfire zx hybrid? Many thanks in advance.
