Gevorg Hakobyan with his outstading, breathtaking and powerful voice is one of the greatest baritones in the globe. This is a real voice for Scarpia. One can feel himself a lucky person to hear such a marvelous and rear voice of great power.👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely superb I was very privileged to see this production last night and not only was it dramatically riveting and a new way of seeing this classic opera, but all the soloists and the orchestra were superb, of which Gevorg was outstanding. Believe you me we are going to hear a lot of him in all the great baritone roles, Rigoletto, Simon Boccanegra, the Count Di Luna, you name it he will be singing them and I for one would love to see him singing them. Bravo 👏
The living tryptic is reminicent of the art behind the Devil's desk in the film "Devil's Advocate"--- and just as goosebump raising. How I would have loved to have seen this production! Hakobyan is every inch Scarpia--- what a voice!
Have just watched the 3 Sat video of the whole opera and am shaken to the core!! Simply magnificent and truly wonderful. It is hard to find words to describe my feelings right now. A million thanks to each and everyone at the Opera for this world class production. I wish you would produce a DVD. Greetings from Cologne.
We were there at the Saturday 30th of April. It was a breathtaking beautifully scene. We loved the entire performance. Bravi to the whole cast and crew. 👏👏👏👏
This, is the student of my greatgrandfather! Whole europe says, you can sing softly until the age 17, even if you're voice changes! But so many people got broken voices, but my greatgrandfather was different. He said, you will only come to my class, when you turn 17! And look what great creations he made!
How can you make a statement like that, not when we had gobbi, london, herlea, bastianni, guelfi, ruffo, urbano,mc neil, capuchilli, warren, and many more, this man is very good but not in the same league as the others..but thats just my opinion and opinions are like arse holes everyone has one...but seriously watch gobbi in his black and white te deum
I cannot imagine quite how tremendous this scene must have appeared in the live theatre - Perhaps it would have warranted handing out sedatives! As a matter of fact, one of the nastiest details in the painting was borrowed from a work of art which terrified my childhood imagination for years. Certainly one of the best sets of my lifetime. The singing wasn't bad, either!!
[SCARPIA] Va, Tosca! [ALL] Te aeternum Patrem omnis terra veneratur!
Interesting concept of the finale! The baritone sings great though I feel his acting should be more pronounced and more detailed. Because all the visual dynamics and movement have been taken out of the scene, he really needs to carry the scene. The orchestra is great and the choir looks very scary on the video. I hear a bit too much of a Dutch accent especially in the whispering parts. It's not a big deal but it makes it a bit clunky.
Good baritone, but what an awful modern setting,te deum needs a church setting,priets,crosses..its called authentic atmosphere, the singer is good also the chorous but it lacks excitement and trepidation, scarpia should be instilling terror, try watching tito gobbi in this scene,or george london,or raimondi, guelfi, herlea, etc...
I feel privileged that I was able to watch this performance live in the theater. This scene was incredibly touching and will stay with me forever.
Same!
That triptych with the integrated singers is the work of a genius.
One of the best baritones of our day if not THE best. Much respect, mr. Hakobyan 🇦🇲🔥
A wonderful Scarpia, his emotional voice gives goosebumps.

Loved every minute of the evening. Outstanding performances and staging from the first to the last note.

Precies hetzelfde hier.

Wow! One of best versions ever made

Just watched the full opera on 3Sat. Congratulations. A great production.
I was there, fifth row. Still get tears in my eyes when I see this. It was spectaculair. Really hard to stay seated and not jump up from my chair.
Magnifique. Bravo մեր հրաշք Gevorg.

wtf is the scenography, makes any sense with the idea of the composer

Beautiful singing, albeit incomprehensibly stupid production.
