    Take the bladder out and just use water bottles you can fit more bottles than the bladder water amount in that section and you can monitor your water supply as you use it. also, it forces you to take a break. I tape a dip drop powered to a bottle and use it as needed. and if for 1 reason if a bottle leaks you will not lose all your water.

      1. I'm surprised the bladder hasn't burst yet - it's a TIGHT fit! Plastic bottles would not hold as much and prob explode under the pressure exerted. I did order the CamelBak Crux lumbar, but apparently they're discontinued or on forever-backorder or something. Maybe why MR went for the sub-optimal option here.
      2. The point of water is to drink, not carry - there's both research and fire/ military "street wisdom" that show people hydrate better with bladders than bottles. In my experience (coming up on 20 years now full time in fire management), people taking breaks hasn't been much of a problem. Even Shots take breaks, and they're not going to be using this pack ever.
